Nov 26, 2010Colors is a definite improvement on Sonic Unleashed. By no means is Colors the 3D Sonic you've been waiting for, but if you can get through all the frustration, there is a lot of fun to be had in this package.
-
Nov 23, 2010Thanks to the added dimension brought by the new powers and the slimmed down presentation, Sonic Colors is a fine example of a modern platforming title as well as the best 3D Sonic to come out in many years. It is the less-heralded of the two Sonic games to be released this year, but it is the one most deserving of a purchase.
-
Nov 19, 2010The latest game featuring Sonic is a mixed experience. It's the best Sonic-game since the 2D Sonic games and it's a fast, beautiful game with a lot of great levels that you can play many times over and over. But the controls can cause quite some problems and the multiplayer part isn't as good as it could have been.
-
Nov 18, 2010A giant leap forward for Sega's mascot. It represents the first time in more than a decade that I have enjoyed a Sonic game.
-
Nov 18, 2010The steering lacks precision, and the quality of the level design is a bit wobbly at times. But Sonic Colours still surprises with its quality, and it seems that Sega and Team Sonic have finally understood what makes a good, modern Sonic game. One of the strongest Sonic games in ages.
-
Nov 15, 2010Sonic Colours is Sega's first step in the right direction towards making a great Sonic game, but they're not quite there yet. This isn't the second coming of Sonic, but it's fun enough for kids and fans of the series.
-
Nov 14, 2010There is still work to be done on this series; the physics still need work and the difficulty still needs to be more carefully balanced. However, it's hard to hate any aspect of this game, even the parts that don't work so well, as it's the most successful attempt yet at recapturing the magic of the original games.
-
Nov 11, 2010The road to Sonic's redemption is a long one, but this is a much surer step towards it than any other game in the last 15+ years.
-
Nov 9, 2010Sonic Team's most recent Wii offering is evidence that it's attempting to claw its way out of a deep grave crammed with disappointing titles. Some diehard Sonic fans with unlimited patience may find enjoyment here, but the rest of us should pick up one of Sonic's fully 2D titles until they get it right.
-
Nov 9, 2010It both loves and hates the player, and this degree of love or hate depends on the type of player. Some could find its frustrations unforgiveable, while others will delight in its cornucopia of exploratory offerings.
-
Nov 9, 2010Sonic Colours is by far the best Sonic game in ages with nice graphics, high speeds and fresh platforming ideas. Recommended for gamers of all ages.
-
Nov 9, 2010Apart from a few brief glimpses of hope, Sonic Colors is a bit of a disappointment. Haphazard levels and unresponsive controls have been the bane of 3D Sonic games, and Colors does little to address these issues. It attempts to mask its shortcomings with shiny new trinkets that only briefly distract you from the glaring flaws.
-
Nov 28, 2010Niggles aside, Sonic Colours is a step in the right direction, albeit a well overdue one and is for the most part an entertaining ride. It's just a shame that the domineering conclusion from the final product is promise, still leaving us waiting for the definitive 3D Sonic title.
-
Edge MagazineNov 24, 2010A collection of ideas executed with variable success, which at times coalesce to form an effective whole, and at others feel like flashy distractions from an otherwise unambitious central formula. [Christmas 2010]
-
Nov 11, 2010Sonic Colours never feels like a world you want to hang out in. There are smart ideas and neat challenges here, but in the end there's probably too much stuff and the untidy interface makes it hard to get at the goodies.
-
Nov 9, 2010Not great enough to bring Sonic back to the pantheon of heroes from platform games, Sonic Colours is still a pleasant game which maybe lack a bit of originality and substance.
