Project Zero 2: Wii Edition

A friendlier game than the original, but a scarier one, too, like a zombie that tidies up after it rips you apart. The best horror game on Wii, by some margin. [July 2012, p.89]

Eight years after its' initial outing the age is somewhat evident with the visuals – but it doesn't really matter. Because it is much more important that after all this time the concept, direction and atmosphere of Project Zero 2 are as good as ever.

Project Zero 2: Wii Edition is a bleak, nasty horror game that scares every step of the way.

A horror adventure with classic flavour, something we miss in current times. Its story is really interesting and its combat system is great. It also has a great atmosphere, and the game knows how to mantain the player in tension and fear. Although its controls are quite archaic and it has much to improve technically, this is a very recommended game.

Apart from being one of the most compelling survival horror games of the past decade, there's no getting away from the fact that it still feels as fresh and unique as it did almost a decade ago.

Project Zero 2: Wii Edition is a competent and respectful remake of one of the best survival horror ever made. Of course the mechanics feel really dated today, but the great setting and terrifying atmosphere are still intact. It's a shame that the controls aren't really optimized on the wiimote capabilities.

The Remake has a lot of great improvements, like a better character-design, a more detailed ghost-design and a better graphic-appearance in general. The nightmarish and dark atmosphere is amazing and nearly makes your heart stop. Behind each corner a ghost may attack you and they look horrible and frightening. Unfortunately there are negative aspects as well. The controls for the camera-obscura are awful; the same goes for controlling Mio. This causes a lot of frustration during the game and makes it even harder. The multiplayer seems awkward and unnecessary. All in all a great and shocking horror game with poor controls.

One of the greatest PS2 horrors that's been ported onto the Wii console. It offers better graphics as well as new controls, yet at the same time the game loses nothing of its original great feel. Even though its gameplay is somewhat lazy, and the controls might be more fluent, the game still delivers its highly atmospheric horror experience.

Unusually dark and scary horror is not suitable for the feint-hearted. Wii-remake is a proud successor to a nine-years-old classic. [Issue#220]

Project Zero 2: Wii Edition has a good amount of scary moments and is better than it was on the other consoles. The graphics are very nice and every horror fan should get this. It's a shame however that things can get a bit repetitive after a while.

As Resident Evil continues to follow the Michael Bay school of thought on tension and Silent Hill struggles to finds its identity, Project Zero is really among the premier survival horror game franchises.

Despite that Project Zero 2 is a remake of a nearly ten year old game, it doesn't feel dated. The developers created a more threatening atmosphere with, mostly, technical adjustments. Especially the dynamic camera and convulsive Wii-controls make this an extra uneasy experience. The game has gotten a nice makeover in the graphics department and is worth checking out for those who are unfamiliar with Project Zero II.

In the end, once you've gotten to grips with the awkward controls - which, again, could take a few hours - you'll start to understand why this game has been given the praise that it has.

One of the most frightening games ever created, period. The Wii version may not have any truly new additions (besides the 3rd person camera), but itʼs a game you must play whichever console you own.

A new third person view, controls adapted to Wii, additional modes, extra endings... Wii trembles with fear thanks to the return of Project Zero II, probably the best game in the series.

No big guns, unlimited ammo and a save point every three seconds; Project Zero 2 is creepy and frightening, as a horror game should be. Play this game in the dark and you'll cower in fright more than a couple of times.

A classic survival-horror effort. For the last few years fans of the genre have more or less had to take what they can get, and while many seasoned players will have already experienced the game in its earlier form, it's still one of the better straight-up horror efforts available right now.
