Aug 15, 2012With an engrossing story, immersive gameplay, and enough scares to get the heart racing, Project Zero 2: Wii Edition continues the trend of strong Wii releases in 2012 and is the perfect plat du jour after the tasty entrée that was Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir.
-
Nintendo GamerJun 25, 2012A friendlier game than the original, but a scarier one, too, like a zombie that tidies up after it rips you apart. The best horror game on Wii, by some margin. [July 2012, p.89]
-
Jul 11, 2012Eight years after its' initial outing the age is somewhat evident with the visuals – but it doesn't really matter. Because it is much more important that after all this time the concept, direction and atmosphere of Project Zero 2 are as good as ever.
-
Jul 9, 2012Project Zero 2: Wii Edition is a bleak, nasty horror game that scares every step of the way.
-
Jul 5, 2012A horror adventure with classic flavour, something we miss in current times. Its story is really interesting and its combat system is great. It also has a great atmosphere, and the game knows how to mantain the player in tension and fear. Although its controls are quite archaic and it has much to improve technically, this is a very recommended game.
-
Jun 29, 2012Apart from being one of the most compelling survival horror games of the past decade, there's no getting away from the fact that it still feels as fresh and unique as it did almost a decade ago.
-
Jul 9, 2012Project Zero 2: Wii Edition is a competent and respectful remake of one of the best survival horror ever made. Of course the mechanics feel really dated today, but the great setting and terrifying atmosphere are still intact. It's a shame that the controls aren't really optimized on the wiimote capabilities.
-
Pelit (Finland)Oct 14, 2012Still a very good horror adventure. Too bad the bit too shaky camera controls are not an improvement. [Sept 2012]
-
Aug 6, 2012The Remake has a lot of great improvements, like a better character-design, a more detailed ghost-design and a better graphic-appearance in general. The nightmarish and dark atmosphere is amazing and nearly makes your heart stop. Behind each corner a ghost may attack you and they look horrible and frightening. Unfortunately there are negative aspects as well. The controls for the camera-obscura are awful; the same goes for controlling Mio. This causes a lot of frustration during the game and makes it even harder. The multiplayer seems awkward and unnecessary. All in all a great and shocking horror game with poor controls.
-
Hyper MagazineSep 18, 2012A great survival horror with combat that exacerbates the tension rather than distracts from its. [Oct 2012, p.65]
-
Aug 24, 2012One of the greatest PS2 horrors that's been ported onto the Wii console. It offers better graphics as well as new controls, yet at the same time the game loses nothing of its original great feel. Even though its gameplay is somewhat lazy, and the controls might be more fluent, the game still delivers its highly atmospheric horror experience.
-
LEVEL (Czech Republic)Aug 10, 2012Unusually dark and scary horror is not suitable for the feint-hearted. Wii-remake is a proud successor to a nine-years-old classic. [Issue#220]
-
Jul 28, 2012Project Zero 2: Wii Edition has a good amount of scary moments and is better than it was on the other consoles. The graphics are very nice and every horror fan should get this. It's a shame however that things can get a bit repetitive after a while.
-
Jul 16, 2012As Resident Evil continues to follow the Michael Bay school of thought on tension and Silent Hill struggles to finds its identity, Project Zero is really among the premier survival horror game franchises.
-
Jul 13, 2012Despite that Project Zero 2 is a remake of a nearly ten year old game, it doesn't feel dated. The developers created a more threatening atmosphere with, mostly, technical adjustments. Especially the dynamic camera and convulsive Wii-controls make this an extra uneasy experience. The game has gotten a nice makeover in the graphics department and is worth checking out for those who are unfamiliar with Project Zero II.
-
Jul 8, 2012In the end, once you've gotten to grips with the awkward controls - which, again, could take a few hours - you'll start to understand why this game has been given the praise that it has.
-
Jul 6, 2012One of the most frightening games ever created, period. The Wii version may not have any truly new additions (besides the 3rd person camera), but itʼs a game you must play whichever console you own.
-
Jun 28, 2012A new third person view, controls adapted to Wii, additional modes, extra endings... Wii trembles with fear thanks to the return of Project Zero II, probably the best game in the series.
-
Jul 26, 2012No big guns, unlimited ammo and a save point every three seconds; Project Zero 2 is creepy and frightening, as a horror game should be. Play this game in the dark and you'll cower in fright more than a couple of times.
-
Jul 9, 2012A classic survival-horror effort. For the last few years fans of the genre have more or less had to take what they can get, and while many seasoned players will have already experienced the game in its earlier form, it's still one of the better straight-up horror efforts available right now.
-
Sep 14, 2012Project Zero 2: Wii Edition is a state of the art survival horror, and this alone should be enough to tempt the genre's aficionados.
-
Jun 27, 2012Project Zero 2: Wii Edition is an interesting remake but it shows that this survival horror has not aged well. Multiplayer, new endings and little extras. All for new audiences to know Tecmo Koei Japanese terror.
-
Jun 25, 2012Brown trousers all round, if you don't mind the unwieldy control method. [July 2012, p.102]
-
Aug 11, 2012This Wii version of Project Zero 2 will please fans of horror games, especially those that haven't played the original.
-
Jul 11, 2012It's still a great experience for survival horror fans, although graphics and control could be much better.
-
Jul 11, 2012The Wii version of Project Zero 2 has a good number of interesting changes, but the new control system spoils a quite solid experience. This creepy survival horror aged in a great way and if you'll be able to survive to the Wiimote/Nunchuk combo, you'll have a very good and scary experience.
-
Jul 11, 2012Project Zero 2's gameplay is pretty basic throughout and showing its age in areas - although the graphical makeover, bar some dodgy textures, is very good. But with the lights off, it's as spine-tinglingly scary as any game I've played, with some truly haunting moments and gasp-inducing set-pieces delivered as it reaches its disquieting climax.
-
Jul 6, 2012There aren't many games that have you anxious to slide aside a curtain; Project Zero 2: Wii Edition does. It's a fine example of a survival horror game despite some awkward controls and an over-reliance on cut scenes that occasionally break the moment. Even with these problems the tension remains consistently high thanks to its bleak, intriguing plot, an atmosphere that is second to none and excellent presentation.
-
Jul 4, 2012Despite its obvious gameplay failings this is still one of the scariest video games ever made, and this Wii edition a surprisingly effective update.
-
Aug 2, 2012If Project Zero 2 remains identical to the version released in 2005 on PS3 regarding its hair-raising universe and its original gameplay, the Wii title won't give the IP a new lease of life. Graphically the same, Project Zero 2: Wii Edition also suffers from bad game controls, the Wiimote clearly better for party-games. It's really infortunate when you know that horror titles are not many on Wii.
-
Jul 20, 2012Project Zero 2 is a functional game, but it's really nothing to write home about. It's a great concept poorly executed and even though it has been slightly updated, it still plays as it did a decade ago.
-
Jul 5, 2012Eight years after its original release, Project Zero 2 still remains a very good survival horror game, far from Resident Evil's shotguns and blessed with a deliciously terrifying atmosphere akin to the best japanese horror movies. Very good storyline, wonderful sound design, and with refreshed visuals, the game could have been a super hit if it wasn't deeply flawed in terms of the control scheme chosent for the Wiimote/Nunchuk couple, which isn't far from being a complete mess.
