    This is one of the best New Super Mario Beros games of the whole series. Its especially fun with friends even with your brother. Messing around in this game with your brother throwing shells at eachother is so fun.

    As the first video game I ever played, Mario served as my gateway into all other Nintendo titles and gaming as a whole. I will always be thankful and nostalgic towards this game as a result.     I truly believe that this is the pinnacle of 2d Mario. I may have bias because this was my first video game, but it’s by far the most difficult 2d Mario, excluding the lost levels. The multiplayer also allows for a lot of backstabbing and rage which is a blessing and a curse. I’ve never seen anyone else say this, but this game is amazing.     Perhaps my favorite 2D Super Mario game, I've played this game for so many hours with my siblings.

    The level design awesome, and the gameplay mechanics are very enjoyable. Many power-ups to choose from, and all of them serve their purpose very well. There's a big variety of levels and minigames. The different worlds have their own gimmicks and unique levels, making the game feel fresh    Perhaps my favorite 2D Super Mario game, I've played this game for so many hours with my siblings.

    There's a big variety of levels and minigames. The different worlds have their own gimmicks and unique levels, making the game feel fresh every time. The underwater levels are quite annoying though because water restricts your movement and slows down the pace by a lot.

    The soundtrack is very iconic and exciting to listen to, it has its own personality in a cute way.

    Lastly, multiplayer works very well, and it's the best way to play the game.

    (8.5/10) - The multiplayer made this so fun to play. When I tried to go back to this game I realized that the controls were really difficult, so I don't know how I got so far when I was a kid. Never beat it though :l

    Presentation wise the game is    Platformers have been my go-to type of video games ever since I got into the hobby and I have this game to thank for it. New Super Mario Bros. Wii may not be the best platformer out there, but it's still very much a fun one. In this game we take control of Mario and friends to save Princess Peach.....plot summary over. (it's a Mario game what'd you expect)

    Presentation wise the game is pretty good though that's about it. In fact the lack of originality is this game's biggest issue. The world themes are the same as NSMB for the DS and if you know that game, you'll know that they're pretty generic. Not to mention the graphics while pleasant, aren't anything special and the innovation is non-existent. The music also isn't one of Mario's strongest, though there are still some bops in here. My favorites include the athletic theme, map overworld themes, final boss, and end credits music. If you're looking for a platformer that breaks the mold, you won't find it here. That said, this game makes up for it with its controls and level design.

    Mario and friends control really well and in a platformer that's especially important to me.. There's plenty of moves you can perform as this game incorporates moves from 3D Mario games. it may seem like a lot but it won't take long to get used to it. It's fluid, varied, and satisfying. To make things even better we have the power ups. All of them are winners. The classics are as fun as ever and the new ones are great additions. The Propeller Mushroom can be very handy to gain heights and it comes with a nifty drill move to rain death from above. The Penguin Suit has a really fun slide ability and is able to freeze enemies (which makes the Ice Flower obsolete, oops). Overall the controls are very satisfactory and the power ups are fun.

    The levels themselves are also very good. There isn't anything that special about them but they're at least mostly consistent in quality. Some worlds are more fun than others (World 5 and 8 are my favorites while 2 and 6 are my least favorites) but there is none I dislike and their gimmicks do enough to set them apart. The best way to play these levels is to speedrun them. It's really satisfying though not all levels are designed for this playstyle and I did lose most of my lives due to recklessness. Though to be honest, unless you're extremely impatient, you won't lose many lives.

    This game's difficulty curve is mostly balanced. There's a small difficult spike here and there but it basically starts off easy and by the end it's mostly standard. This also applies to the boss fights which aren't all that great. Each world has two fights with a Koopaling. The first fight all play mostly the same. Really easy to dodge attacks and three hits before death. The second battles are more interesting and a few can get rather tense but they're nothing that special still. The exceptions are the Bowser Jr. battles. These are still not that hard but they're all satisfying. (Especially the second one) Also the final boss is sick, If a little easy. So if you're looking for a challenge, then you'll only find it near the end of the game. Though if cooperation is your only weakness, then don't play this with three other players.

    Multiplayer is a great addition to this game. I played this with one other person and it was fun. (Especially the sabotage) Plus the mechanic that allows you to go into a bubble at any time to save you from harm or a bottomless pit is rather useful to help younger players to get into Mario...(or cheat). So definitely consider this for some good multiplayer fun. Fair warning though: More than 2 players will more than likely lead to chaos.

    The last thing I wanna talk about is the completion process. The only thing you need to do is find all of the secret exits, collect all the star coins, and AVOID THE SUPER GUIDE AT ALL COST!!!. (Trust me) I think this is definitely worth it as it forces you to go off the beaten path at times and come on, who doesn't love collecting shiny things? The reward for 100% all may not be very special but this is a case of the journey being the real reward. (But the star coins do unlock some other things that are really cool)

    Overall, I'd still say this game holds up. There isn't anything amazing or original about it and it's on the easy side but even ignoring my nostalgia it's still a consistently enjoyable game. The controls are satisfactory, the power-ups are mostly strong, the levels are generally well-crafted, the presentation is still good, and the multiplayer is fun. It's not the best 2D adventure the king of platformers has to offer, but it's still a fun one and a great intro to the genre.

    Score: 8/10 (probably a high 7 at best but I have nostalgia for this one. It's the first game I ever beat. Cut me some slack. :D)    … Expand

    goated game, i have beaten it so many times. controls are great, level design is fun and interesting, and the gameplay (ESPECIALLY COOP) is fun as **** and playing this game with 4 people… some of the most fun you’ll ever have

    - interesting use of motion controls for platforms. Trying to move left and right while tilting the wiimote to move the platform is challenging. - new power ups. Lastly they brought back the mini games from Super Mario bros 3. My only problems with it is that the graphics are the same as new super Mario bros ds, the physics are floaty, it's too easy to get 1This game is great.     Right amount of difficulty, well projected Multiplayer department with the bubble system, Yoshi, the introduction of the true Ice Flower (Galaxy doesn't count), the Propeller mushroom (one of my favourite powerups in the series), the OST... this game has everything! A must-have for every Wii owner :)

He extends his disturbingly long tongue and devours any poor creatures that gets into his path. This game's level design is simple and can offer some great experiences.     Good Wii game, but after playing bros U it’s not flashing. The game makes fun, it was the first time with the cooperlings, so that is not a point which is bad. The final boss is awesome and the 100% realistic. It’s a good not so long game. The price worth

    People hate on this game so much for being similar to the DS entry into the series, but I personally think that this game is one of my favorite Mario 2D platformers of all time. This game took my family 6 years to beat, and it was all worth it. The 4 player co-op can be a little hectic in normal play, but if you do two-player, or do the special modes, this game can bring so much fun.

I guess that makes it fun to watch speedruns of this game but it doesn't really have much other purpose. I love the multiplayer mode, but i just don't really come back to it as often as i should. I feel like this is one of those video games that is trying to please too many people at once; this is due to the fact that it plays everything incredibly safe. The difficulty isn't very hard (although, I will say, I did one hundred percent complete this game, which was quite taxing); the final boss fight is laughable (even in the second phase) and all of the other bosses are quite similar. The individual levels are fun, though, and are, clearly, handcrafted with care, showing off level design that is flexible to each player, allowing multiple play styles to succeed. Contrarily, the bosses are simple: Just jump on each of them three times; I understand that this is a Mario game, so they need to be accessible to a wide variety of audiences, including the younger, more inexperienced market, but that doesn't mean that there can't be anything for the more skilled players.… Expand

    So I'm rating this a 10 out of 10. Sue me. Nonetheless, this is my absolute favorite Mario game and my overall most favorite Mario game of all time. Sure, the story is tired and used up, but the gameplay and the graphics definitely make up for it.

    Es el mejor New Super Mario Bros Wii la experiencia en solitario se disfruta muy bien como los Mario se toda la vida pero cuando hay 4 personas es una experiencia magnifica que debe ser sentida y recordada por todo game, para mi el mejor juego de la Wii RECOMENDADO al 100%

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. New Super Mario Bros. Wii works in many ways and I'm very impressed. You can play as Mario, Luigi, Yellow Toad, or Blue Toad to play. Of course, Princess Peach is captured by Bowser and you have to save her by going through 8 worlds and beating Bowser and his kids. Here's a description of each world:
    World 1: The enjoyable and easy grassland world with Princess Peach's castle in it. Enemy: Larry.
    World 2: The desert world that is a bit harder than World 1. Not really hard and partly enjoyable. Enemy: Roy.
    World 3: A fun snowy world that is easy and very enjoyable. Enemy: Lemmy.
    World 4: The beach world. I personally hate the beach world the most because you have to go under water in some levels and enemies like purple cheep cheeps are down there and I hate them. Enemy: Wendy O.
    World 5: The poisonous jungle world. I love this world a lot. A bit hard and super fun. Enemy: Iggy.
    World 6: The mountains world. Partly hard and partly fun. Enemy: Morton Jr.
    World 7: The sky/cloud world. Quite fun and in between easy and hard. Enemy: Ludwig Von.
    World 8: The volcano/lava world. This world has Bowser's castle in it. Mostly hard. Enemy: Bowser.
    After completing those worlds, you continue to World 9 which is a star world.
    Overall, New Super Mario Bros. Wii is an excellent game that I recommend.    … Expand

This game really wasn't a standout it felt very much like a rehash of the previous N.S.M.B. but with the four player action and the great graphics I was able to see through that. The boss battle was great and the new worlds offered some great new game mechanics.     esse jogo foi muito bom pra relembrar os jogos da franquia mario em 2D, ele transformou um estilo antigo de mario em algo inovador, dando pra jogar até 4 pessoas ao mesmo tempo, usando o sensor de movimento do wii para voar, o modo de batalha pra cassar moedas tudo muito bom. só não dou 10 pelo fato de não dar pra jogar o modo de cassar moedas online, po ficaria show.

    The Perfect game for Mario fans and those of you who think Mario is okay I say the game is worth a try. It's basically like the Mario bros but it has a funny opening seen and it has a lot of power ups. Overall: If you have a wii it's worth a try though the DS version is better.

    This game is awesome! The 2nd best NSMB game. The graphics are great for the Wii. The level designs are awesome. You can play as Toads which I like. The multiplayer is very fun. New Super Mario Bros Wii is an awesome game and you should definitely buy it!

    This was my All-Time Back up favourite game. New Super Mario Bros. 2 just came out in 2012 when I was obsessed with this game. Fufufu and I played together for at least 30 min. and one time, my Aqua Blue Nintendo 3DS needed to be fixed, so I had to play this instead of NSMB2 for 2weeks or so. You should totally get this game. It is FLAWLESS! I'm on World 9.

    The biggest new addition in New Super Mario Bros. Wii is 4-player multiplayer. Mario, Luigi, Blue Toad (Bucken Berry), and Yellow Toad (Ala Gold) are playable. It's a shame that the first player still always has to be Mario but it can be overlooked. Multiplayer is a bit too hectic at times for my taste which is why I always prefer single-player in this game.

    The bubble mechanic featured in multiplayer is a great addition if this is the first Mario game you've ever played. A more skilled player can race to the goal while you're in the bubble. Of course, another person can pop the bubble at any time, making it a bit unpredictable. The level design in the game can ranges from grassland, desert, and beach to ghost house, lava, and poisoned forest. These kinds of levels are featured in almost every Mario game, but for some reason it seems a lot more varied than its predecessor.

    The famous Mario foes, the Koopalings return from Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World. They all have different attack patterns and their fights are really unique. You fight against each one twice. The first fight is always really simple but on the second fight, the wizard Kamek appears and gives them a special power or changes up the terrain. The bosses in the game are designed incredibly well and the final boss *no spoilers* is fantastic and does not disappoint.

    My only true problem with the game is the difficulty. The game can be a bit tough at times, especially during multiplayer which is why I wouldn't recommend it. Your character might not respond at times to the controls but it's an extremely rare occasion. The difficulty isn't a huge problem as it was fixed in later New Super Mario installments.

    Overall, New Super Mario Bros. Wii is a huge improvement over its predecessor with great level design and arguably even better bosses. It definitely deserves a spot in your Wii library.    … Expand

    My Dad and I played and completed this game in one night. Although it didn't use motion controls, it was still a fun game, and the graphics were great. Nintendo did a great job with this one. Defiantly recommend it for a Mario fan.

    positive: first time that there are the koopa bros after Mario bros 3, two new power-ups (penguin and propellor), an entertaining story, one of the finest wii controles, GREAT music, epic bosses and FFFFFFUUUUUUNNNNN multiplayer mode.
    negative: not THE most creative game ever, star world gets cheap.........that's it.
    ONE OF MY FAVORITE MARIO GAMES OF ALL TIME.

    New Super Mario Bros. Wii is better than the first game in EVERY WAY. From the gameplay, graphics, to EVERYTHING ELSE, this game is a blast to play. The only thing I hate about this game is the difficulty spike (World 5 & 8.......just saying) and the "too chaotic and cheap" multiplayer mode.

The graphics are good for the most part they are nice and cartoony and really what graphics in a typical Mario game should be. I also like that we see the Kooplings again, it was good to see them return after not seeing them since Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga (or Super Mario World if you don't count spin-offs). One problem I have with this game is that I think that it is recycling the same world themes in this again off of the DS game and other level types, I really think that if you are going to have the word "New" in the title, you should have some "New" things in each entry and I see that the later games on 3DS and Wii U have the same problems in fact those games recycle music from this game (which I think is absolutely blasphemous for a video game today), of course I don't think any NSMB game that came after NSMB Wii should exist, I think two was enough. It's one of those games that you can sit down with your friends playing for hours, trying to get every last coin, star, and powerup. The multiplayer is really solid, the level design is great, and the graphics are, well, Mario. Although it's not the hardest game in the world, you will need to replay levels over and over to get it perfect. And that's just it. The replayability is one of the best parts of the game. There are some levels of this game that you can play as many as ten times in a row, and not get bored of. However, the best experience is when you're playing with two other people away from everything else in the world. Just sheer Mario, super-fun, platforming gameplay. So, if you're looking for a super fun game to play, buy this for ten bucks somewhere.
    (Although, and as much of a Mario fan as I am, I find games like Super Meat Boy to be more fun. If only that game had multiplayer.)    … Expand

    Very Good. Recently bought a Wii to get in on last gen for cheap (skipped last gen entirely). This is a faithful recreation of traditional Mario game-play. Best Mario game on the console (Galaxy is kind of boring and Paper Mario disappoints me).

    It's good! It's as good as Paper Mario. I like playing it with my Mom and my Dad. It can be four players. There's a castle and you only have an amount of time in each level to get through it. If you don't get it, it's time up. You can also get stuff for Mario.

    New Super Mario bros. is a great game. It makes lots of references to past games and gives you new powers that are so much fun, i'm not going to spoil the ending but it is probably one of the best endings to a Mario game in a long time

    This game pays tribute to former games glory, difficulty, and story. Actually, that was it's only downside, the fact that I knew Bowser was gonna pull his same old trick. But, then, the game absorbed me into fun levels, new power-ups and enemies, and Toad houses to win 1-Ups, Power-ups, and Star Powers in every world.

    The next new power-up is ice mario. This lets you freeze enemies then chuck their frozen bodies at other enemies. This is a good power-up, though the good ol' fire flower beats it by a mile. Lastly there's penguin. This is merely ice power with a few extra abilities. So it's not really new. The fire flower also returns, good news for any mario fan.
    One of the biggest additions to New super mario bros wii is multiplayer. This is great, chaotic fun due to players getting in the way of each other. While this may sound bad, in reality, it just increases the challenge. But while someone powers up, gets hiy or dues, the screen freezes for a split second. So if you're making a jump when that happens, the momentary freeze will de-sync your jump, probably cause you to plummet to your doom. This results in largely broken multiplayer.
    The graphics and sound of NSMBwii are good, but hardly great. The music is the same sort of bubbly, predictable, but catchy tracks you heard in New Super Mario Bros, while the graphics are a bit disappointing, even for a wii game.
    Level design, meanwhile, is the mario we've come to know. Every single level is created with skill, offering a decent challenge and throwing in many different mechanics, though I was disapointed in the lack of many uses for the wiimotes motion sensing.
    The bosses are the same ones from mario world- the koopa kids. Each has a twist that changes it from an average boss fight to something special. Every single boss is different and well thought out.
    In conclusion, NSMB wii is a fantastic game, and one of the best 2D platformers on the wii. It does have flaws- mainly broken multiplayer and lacklustre visuals and music- but overall, it's a challenging game any fan of platforming games will enjoy.    … Expand

    I really like this game because you can unlock levels after level 9 and you get lots of different suits that Mario can wear. My favourite suits are Flower, Ice Mario, Penguin Mario and Propeller Mario.

    That sense of cohesiveness isn't always present in New Super Mario Bros. and it makes for an uneven experience that's difficult to score.

    New Super Mario Bros. Wii is an excellent game with friends, and I had a great deal of challenging fun with the solo mode. But if you’re looking for a new Mario adventure that’s tailored to creating the maximum amount of fun for just one person, you’ll have to wait for next year’s Super Mario Galaxy 2.
