I bought this game for baseball. I got a storyline and many characters, including that epic little Baby DK!
It is fun, and is sort of like MLB 2k series, but is not as serious. Anyway, great game!

So far this is the only baseball game I like, the items put an interesting twist on the gameplay and the different fields also make gameplay both fun and interesting. Even single player gets interesting at times.

This game is totally awesome! It is just insanely fun. A million times better than real baseball. The graphics are great for the Wii. The character selection is the best ever. The gameplay is amazing! The challenge mode is an awesome story mode. This game is one of my favourite games of all time and it's definitely worth buying.

I hate baseball, but this game makes baseball fun, Mario Super Sluggers makes the real baseball look stupider than it already does and that's saying something.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Best Mario Sports Game period. Mario Super Sluggers has a lot of awesome stuff it has to offer: The Best Character Selection IMO, Addictive Gameplay, Awesome stadiums/stages, and some of the Minigames. Minigames I don't play that much but I've played them before and I guess it's okay. The main thing about this game though, is Baseball. Just love the Gameplay, controls, and how you can set your team up.

The Characters...not much to say except it is the Best Roster I've seen in any Mario Game IMO. Some of the characters are just a total badass, some are weaker than others, and some have more skill at different stuff.

The stadiums/stages - Luigi's Mansion is actually my favourite one because of the design and just how it looks. Hell, it even has a Remixed Version of the Ghost Theme from the Original Luigi's Mansion on the GameCube. I haven't played that (seen videos) but I have played Dark Moon on the 3DS.

Overall, Mario Super Sluggers is a great Sports and Mario Game and I totally recommend it! And if you hate MSS, you're BEYOND silly as JB.

I haven't had it long enough to talk about the longevity or difficulty at higher levels but so far this game is everything I was looking for out of a Mario Baseball game. I'll look elsewhere for my simulation fix but when I want to shoot shells at the opposing team while they're trying to field the ball or do crazy super jumps to prevent a home run this is the game.

I'm kind of shocked with the low critic reviews this game has. Sure the game's not flawless, but it's still pretty good. Fun stadiums, good controls, cool, yet very short story mode, great character roster, and just pure fun. This is my favourite Mario sports game that I've played.

This game is really not very good. The single player mode took me 20 minutes to beat Bowser. I'm not lying. The characters all have certain ratings for speed, catching, batting and pitching. Which is fine. The problem is that these ratings are all false.

I don't see why everyone is hating on this game. Sure the graphics aren't improved much from the gc version, but there are like 10-15 new characters, more stadiums (also playable at night), and I thought the single player mode was a lot more fun than the original's. There are also gameplay improvements, and the wii controls feel great, as they usually do! I give it a 7.5. I don't see why everyone is hating on this game. The game runs smoothly, and is so realistic to real baseball that I forget quite often that i am not really in the game, and i sometimes speak in whatever mannerism the character i was playing in the most recent game for up to 3 days. I am currently in the professional leagues, and my growth to get here has been the most fun journey i have ever gotten the pleasure to experience in my life. When i won my first world championship was far and away above things like graduating from high school and college, and getting married. While i warn you that your job and school may become a second priority, and there could be potential consequences, i still think that you should buy and play this game, even if it puts you in debt. This game is worth more than money, and if you value yourself at any level you will understand why this game is priceless. As much as i might try, this 5000 character limit could not show how much joy and love Super Sluggers has given me. The community, developers, and everyone involved in this game is fantastic, and they are my true family (don't tell my wife haha) I really think that this game has shaped my life for the better, and has guided me into becoming a better, happier, more loving person, and there is no way to thank the developers enough for what they have done for me, and the world entirely. The core gameplay is quite decent and the motion controls work well for hitting and pitching. The story mode got a massive upgrade, where you can now explore the different areas on the island around each stadium and gather up all the characters individually, and it’s super fun to play through! The game has been visually enhanced from the GameCube version and everything looks more detailed. The soundtrack is full of exciting tunes and a lot of the stadium themes are remixes of Mario songs throughout the series. Although story mode is short, it still contributes to the game's basics. The one game you can rob home runs by buddy jumping. This is better than playing a simulated baseball game relating to MLB. Chemistry can be a question for all characters, especially other characters being allies. For example, Luigi and Yoshi. Like all Mario games back in the day, it goes by character. Its a fun multiple game and there are plenty of challenges you can do in the game playing solo. Challenges include the "Mario Super Sluggers Gauntlet" (the challenge to defeat every captain in the game), "Mario Super Sluggers Dinger Derby Challenge" (hitting a home run with all 71 characters that includes the Mii with a home run/inside the park home run), facing one of the greatest rosters of all time, and many more. I was inspired by the man himself, Coach Chizplays, the GOAT of Mario Super Sluggers who brings a lot of great times and laughs. There are three ways to play the game, which include the nunchuck. I prefer motion controls playing defense and playing sideways to play with more manual inputs and to be a master at playing the game. It would be awesome to have online multiplayer in this game and customizing your Miis with the stats you choose (power, speed, pitch, and running abilities). The variety of characters from Mario and DK franchise is awesome to see. Playing with items can also be awesome, but also chaotic which features friendly fire. The Boo and POW Block are the best items in the game. Imagine if this games gets ported with new courses, enhance story mode, and more characters. Winning close plays, creating errors to your opponents, home runs/inside the park home run, robbing home runs, and buddy tossing to victory are great feelings. Why play simulated baseball when you have the Mario aspect of baseball. Mario Super Sluggers and Mario Strikers Charged are the last great Mario Sports games. Expand

This baseball diamond loses some of its luster with occasionally confusing or clunky play (it's too easy to accidentally pitch or swing prematurely), but the game's simplified approach is great for sports-curious gamers looking to avoid the complexities of a real simulation. [Oct 2008, p.87]
