  1. The series is one of the more original console offerings out there and worth the time for any gamer looking for something a little more real.

It's a shame, because if it weren't for that one infuriating aspect of the game, Shipwrecked would be a real winner. [Dec 2008, p.102]
  3. Overall it’s just too much work to really keep a person interested. And when the audio, graphics and visual design aren’t adding to the appeal, it’s a little too likely that you’ll suddenly ask yourself, “Wait – is this actually fun, or is it just tedium?” and realize you can’t quite tell any more.
  4. Just like the DS versions, the concept for Lost in Blue: Shipwrecked hits all the right marks, but it's the execution that fails. A stupid, impractical A.I. companion and the unrealistic stat maintenance make playing it just about as much fun as being stranded on an island in real life.
  5. Exploration is as good as ever, and the Wii Remote mini-games, from cooking to building to foraging for food, are solid. But the problem with the health gauges really detracts from the experience, and it’s getting more and more difficult to overlook that problem as we see it in game after game.

I could bash the game for having less than stellar graphics, repetitive sound or even the lack of plot, but I was just looking for a fun game that ended up feeling more like a task, than anything.

All the extra content and intriguing exploration aspects are rendered null and void by the fact that you'll spend the majority of your time babysitting health bars, though. The developers at Hudson nailed the survival aspect a little too well -- now they just need to work on making it fun.
  8. For the majority of people, this game is just not that pleasurable and can be quite tedious or difficult. I will give the developers some credit for attempting to add a story to a collection of mini-games, but unfortunately, this continues the trend of Wii games that is rushed out the door and not given the attention it could have used.
  9. 50
Overall the game just feels too rough, and strays way too far away from the formula. As always, the concept is great, but the execution is flawed.
  10. Nintendo Gamer

Different protagonists, same game. [Christmas 2008, p.66]
  11. The pleasures of island life are cast away by constant frustrations in this tedious survival game.

But it is something that i like to come back to, play 2 days straight, and then put back on the shelf for a month. Graphics aren't that great, and sound is choppy, but it has a good story line and you can get the hang of scavenging and foraging constantly, and if you stick it out long enough, i gets easier. Not for someone who likes the short, all-in-one-day completions. Has a lot of (somewhat annoying) realism, and meters can be a pain, but it's fun. Full Review »

The graphics are definitely not something special, it's tedious, and difficult. It wouldn't be as terrible, if you didn't have a partner to take care of, along with yourself. It's literally as if she can't do anything for herself (and yet you find her chillin' with her own shelter). And if that's not enough, your Hunger, Thirst, and Stamina meters drop WAY too quickly. Which obviously makes exploring nearly impossible without rushing back to camp for rest, or to help Lucy to remember how to breathe if you've left her alone. Probably better to take her with you. Also, it's really hard to find certain required supplies. Like, you have to travel 2 miles out of your way for a piece of wood. Which obviously decreases your stamina, hunger and thirst. Characters get really whiny and annoying if they haven't eaten for 5 minutes, and get sick far too easily. The last thing you want to do is get lost, as that's the quickest way to death, especially if you've left Lucy back at camp. Even if you've hunted and eaten boar meat, it only fills a third of your hunger meter. And if you're low on stamina, and can't sleep, you're forced to sit and rest that way. The only thing wrong with that is, your meters drop faster, because you're sitting down. -.- So it's really not worth the tiny bit of stamina it replenishes. Bottom line, definitely not worth a buy. If you don't wanna bother reading my excruciatingly long rant, just rent the game and see for yourself. You're definitely better off with one of the DS versions. Full Review »
