  1. The final surprise the game offered was its at first vanilla, then definitively Vanilla Sky storyline.
  2. Despite all of these complaints, I can see fans of the original game enjoying this revival. It’s faithful to a fault, and I can think of plenty of older niche games that I would love to see get similar treatment. But if you’ve got no connection to the original, you’ll likely wonder what all of the fuss is about.

Klonoa is one of the best platforming games on the Wii.
  4. A perfect remake: shiny graphics and some new contents that increase replay value. Still, is a game from 1997, some puzzles are too "childish" and the main adventure don't last more than 5 hours.
  5. A mixed success. In terms of its childlike spectacle, Klonoa is quite brilliant, offering a number of memorable set-pieces and an unforgettable, wistful ambience throughout. But its challenges, while obvious, are often fiddly to overcome, and the sense of deep achievement that comes from completing one of Super Mario's tasks is here replaced by mere relief that it's over.

    A disappointingly underwhelming title. [Mar 2009, p.69]
  7. The more than ten year old game is still charming and will attract younger players. Let’s hope Klonoa 2 will hit the Wii as well.

Solid and enjoyable stuff but also incredibly shallow by today's standards. [Aug 2009, p.84]

Puzzles are too child-friendly, their solutions more fiddly than mentally taxing. The pleasure earned from cracking Miymoto’s designs is instead targeted by flashy 2.5D level design – snaking sights that admittedly look wonderfully crisp on Wii – and set-pieces for the impatient. [Mar 2009, p.95]
  10. A strange choice of PSone update, but an enjoyable platformer only let down by its lack of challenge.
  11. The remake of Klonoa for Wii is a colorful and cozy game that's perfect for the younger generation of players. Unfortunately, the experienced player has not much to get here more than a dose of nostalgia.

It has very cute characters and a story that fells like a tale. The Levels are very well designed as well. In these Levels you sometimes actually have to use your enemies to succeed. You can use your them for example to jump over a hole that's so big, that you couldn't jump over yourself. You also can or even need to use little enemies to defeat very big and too strong enemies, so it has pretty smart gameplay mechanichs. All in all I had a great time with this game and it was so great, that I played it multiple times. :) Full Review »

This was definitely one of those series that I always wanted to play and I finally got the chance to do so! And overall I'm not disappointed, as it offers classic platformer gameplay that many games are failing to do so. Not only that but it also has a very interesting story going with it. Yet the game is fairly easy and short, except the very last level that is only difficult because it makes you jump on platforms that are very small and make you slip easily. But aside from that little moment, you can finish easily this game. And while that is not particularly a bad thing, it becomes a bad thing considering how short the game is. Otherwise this one would definitely be superb, yet I can't wait to see the second part come to the Wii, please. Full Review »
