Nintendo PowerI can't help but like this two-pack...[but i]t's not $30 worth of fun. [Oct 2010, p.89]
-
While you might not get as much life out of this as you would your typical Call of Duty or Halo title, I think it's a unique game that really should be experienced by anyone with a passing interest in the Light Gun genre, and I definitely feel like it's worth checking out.
-
At the asking price, Gunblade NY/LA Machineguns is a steal. While Gunblade is showing its age a little now, LA Machineguns is still an excellent shooter with an interesting combo system that should bring players back to hone their skills.
-
Much like this review this collection is short and sweet. Arcade junkies will appreciate these two niche titles finally being available outside of tracking down the cabinets, and the Wii is the perfect platform to release them on.
-
For barebones-but-respectably-polised arcade fun (and all those terrible voice clips), the Gunblade and L.A. Machineguns pack isn't a bad pick-up.
-
Sega's Arcade Hits Pack is like a great piece of gum: it's not exactly fulfilling, but it's fine while it lasts.
-
Except for running through on two harder difficulties, there is little reason to play beyond the initial 20 minutes.
-
Fun but criminally short, Gunblade NY: Special Air Assault Force & LA Machineguns: Rage of the Machines Arcade Hits Pack is probably not for most of us.
-
Sega dredges its archives for two of its more obscure lightgun games. Both work well enough, but your Wii remote still deserves better.
-
Official Nintendo Magazine UKTwo ancient arcade machines on one disc, and not much else. [Oct 2010, p.85]
-
A short, but fun, and visually outdated, but still enjoyable, combination for a reasonable price.
-
It is LA Machineguns that makes Gunblade NY & LA Machineguns Arcade Hit Pack worthy of a look.
-
Since the games are fun to play and well preserved, Gunblade NY & L.A. Machineguns Arcade Hits Pack is well-worth a one-night rental, but only devoted fans of the originals or arcade enthusiasts should consider a full-price purchase.
-
Arcade maniacs may be the only ones getting a kick out of this compilation but I still have a hard time recommending it. Perhaps these two titles would have been a bit more interesting as $5 WiiWare releases.Instead, they had to go retail. Ah SEGA, you used to be cool.
-
Nintendo GamerTwo of the least memorable lightgun games we're ever played. [Oct 2010, p.61]
-
It's hard to rate Gunblade NY and LA Machineguns Arcade Hits Pack without looking at it through the eyes of a nostalgic. The pack contains two very old lightgun shooters which have nothing to do with the several nice titles of the same genre released for Wii in the last years, and it's not gonna be sold at a budget price.
-
There isn't much use trying to analyze the content in this combo pack of games. It feels so far removed from the arcade roots that it would be hard to believe that these were once a bonafied exhilarating arcade experience. The only saving grace is the $30 price point, which is essentially the price of two downloadable game titles. Still, without the smoke and mirrors of a busy arcade, this pack of games shows how shallow they are at the core.
-
Oct 21, 2010As modern games go, this one looks pretty bad, is short, and has very little beyond the core game.
-
In rudely flipping Gunblade NY & L.A. Machineguns onto store shelves for some quick cash, Sega has shown that they can't be bothered. If that's true, then why should anyone else?
-
Quotation forthcoming.
-
Even though Gunblade NY and LA Machineguns are indeed decent titles of the genre, it's difficult not to take in to account the scandalous price of this bundle ; the true value of both titles is more one for the heart, than your wallet.
-
If you're looking for two super short light gun games that require no skill, then boy do I have the Wii compilation for you. Gunblade NY & L.A. Machineguns Arcade Hits Pack manages to package these two games together, but it doesn't do much more than that. Even at $30, that's still too much to pay for two forgettable arcade shooters!
