At no time during our adventure we’re our minds collectively blown, but there were certainly high points during the game, making it worthy for a rental or used purchase.
  2. Another licensed movie game of lackluster quality and play-value. Although being true to the feel of the films, the gameplay is dreary and the control scheme is unrefined.

Between the dog-eared visuals and repetitive gameplay, it's only just bearable. Shame, really. [Aug 2007, p.98]
  4. The gameplay is shallow, monotonous, and straight forward while remaining fun. I wouldn’t dip into my treasure chest and spend my loot on Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End, but I can easily recommend it as a rental.

The characters and scenes have a wonderful resemblance to the movies, while the soundtrack adds more authenticity, all of which will be appreciated by fans of the film trilogy. However, with repetitive, linear gameplay and very limited sword-fighting action, even fans of the film will struggle to really enjoy the gameplay and if you haven't seen the films then At World's End definitely won't fulfil your expectations for an action game.
  6. With some authentic music and almost-decent graphics, this game is good enough to fool your kids into thinking it's a worthwhile Pirates of the Caribbean experience. But for anyone looking for a good action/pirate game that stands on its own, this is definitely one to be avoided.

The safety of brand outweighs the desire to innovate. Sword fighting doesn't work with the remote. [Aug 2007, p.47]
  8. The dull, repetitive combat and uninspired mission structure prevent At World's End from being much fun.
  9. While it does take advantage of the Wii remote to good effect, there is not enough variety in the game play to make for a swashbuckling experience.
  10. Poor execution dystroyed this game, with a little polish and better design work this could have been a really fun game.
  11. But when all the parts are added up, this is just another on a long list of licensed games that fail to actually get past the low standards set for the genre.

Action packed battles, clever stunts, witty remarks from a highly convincing Captain Jack Sparrow, and furiously fun controls. The missions stay true to the films, as well as revealing many unseen parts of the plot, maintaining the feel of an adventure and suprise. The game features plenty of humour (even during the sword fights!), which provides the perfect atmosphere. A must have! 11/10. Full Review »
