With a long-running series like DDR, it's a risk to mix up the core gameplay that made the franchise a success. But with this year's tweaks and music refresh, DDR Hottest Party 2 is definitely stepping in the right direction.
-
The new features breathe some life into the stagnating DDR formula, but so little of it is actually fun that it quickly devolves into plain old DDR with a few gimmicks — the game even calls them gimmicks.
-
An above-average dancing affair for the Wii that delivers familiar graphics, forgettable songs and no online options. If you liked the original, you might dig this one, but it's not worth our time.
-
Definitely a disappointment. The original Hottest Party did a lot for the franchise by adding the hand movements, and it would have been nice to see some more innovation implemented in the sequel. As it stands, however, Hottest Party 2 is almost exactly the same as its predecessor, just with different songs. Since the majority of those aren't even that good, it's better to just pass on this party.
-
Dance Dance Revolution: Hottest Party 2 isn’t the hottest party on the block. Gamers who own another console besides the Wii should consider one of the many other versions that have been released.
