All in all, Starwhal is an excellent couch multiplayer game that'll doubtless be a house favourite in many establishments.

For its price and the fun factor alone, this is thoroughly recommendable.

Starwhal is an unusual and overall unique game that fully reveals itself on multiplayer. Its original and amusing gameplay and very entertaining multiplayer experience make this an option that will surely satisfy those who invest on it. Pity that its single player experience is a shadow of its multiplayer component and there’s no online mode to make up for that.

STARWHAL is a weird, quirky and vibrant game that looks great. Its fun to play with friends in short sessions, but unfortunately the gameplay quickly feels a bit hollow.

If you're rocking it solo, don't even bother picking up the controller. [Issue #18 – November/December 2015, p.18]

For a party game, it has its merits, but not enough to justify the rest of the experience.

It's simple to control and even easier to get into; the slow-mo on near misses is everything and helps build the hype instantly. We only play this as 3-4 person multiplayer and primarily the main mode but some of the alternatives are fun. For what it costs, it earned its value the night I bought it. It's also something you're not going to be playing for longer than an hour unless you have a mass of people switching in and out, but it's always something to go back to. If you ever wished Nidhogg was more than 2 players, this is your consolation prize as far as stabbing your friends in the chest goes Full Review »

The frantic gameplay and ridiculous costumes will have you and your friends/family screaming at each other in delight.

    I seriously love this game.

Note: This is really a multiplayer-only game. Probably a 5/10 if you're playing by yourself.
