    Sega you have only two options to save this battered and dead franchise now... Sell Sonic to Nintendo as they know how to represent Sonic in the way that he deserves. Or sell the franchise to Naoto Ohshima! You know...the guy who made the BEST 2D SONIC GAME EVER?! You have proven yourself utterly incapable of ever making a good Sonic game, and when you make decent games its just a lie, a sick lie to draw fans in only to get drawn and quartered by complete alpha build **** such as Sonic Boom. Sonic Adventure 3 is the only hope for the franchise yet day by day I believe that this dream of a great Sonic game will never come to fruition due to such a horrible game.

    I think this could rank up there with the worst games of all time. Do not fall for the propaganda reviews of 9 and 10's. They are mostly new accounts that have only signed up to rate this game and the other sonic boom release. Very fishy, it seems a lot of places are doing this when their game flops? Naughty.

    This was awful. A complete disservice to fans of Sonic. The game breaking bugs are compounded by the fact that Wii U does little to no patches. This should have been a return to the Genesis days of glory but instead we have just another terrible Sonic game. Fans of Sonic avoid. Everyone avoid.

    The only bad thing about Sonic Boom is that the game is terrible in every way.

    But this game is just really bad, It just feels really rushed like it's still an Alpha build.

    This game is an abomination. I refuse to accept this as a Sonic game, this just doesn't feel fat or fun. I guess if you wanted to play Sonic '06 with a new skin you could buy this game, but I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. This game poorly designed with terrible textures and glitches. Avoid this game at all costs.

    Adding on to my other review (I hoped this game was going to be good, but it was not. The freaking combat in unleashed is WAY BETTER than this combat, where you can only get like a 2 hit combo... Also a slow sonic game?? Gimme a break...)

    Honestly, there's nothing I can say that can't be said. There is no speed, fighting is a chore, the characters are one-sided and the game is a glitchy mess far more than Sonic 06 ever was.

    A zero is the only thing this will ever deserve. Thanks for nothing, Sega.

    Then there's the music. Sonic games are renowned for having top class OSTs, no matter the quality of the game itself. Here, they gave up. That's all I can say. None of the songs had me humming; none stick in my memory; they don't even sound finished.

    I've clocked 7 hours playing the game, and somewhere along the line, I realized that this game *couldn't* have ever been good, unlike Sonic '06, which was at least a thumbs-down Sonic Adventure rehash. The idea behind this is like the spiritual successor to Sonic Heroes, but without any of that game's nostalgic charm or so-bad-it's-good cheesy dialogue.

    If you want a game to satisfy the little ones for a few hours, here's some shovelware for ya. It'll be selling for $4.99 in no time anyway, so don't buy it now.    … Expand

    In the absolute bottom of the barrel, you'd expect to find a really bad game. But look further, under the bottom of the barrel. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING even compares to the sloppy, unfinished piece of crap that is Sonic Boom: Rise Of Lyric. This game makes Sonic '06 look like an absolute masterpiece.

    An embarrassing rush job and an inexcusably bad game in every way. The graphics stink, the gameplay is boring as crap, the cut scenes are vomit inducing, the music is canned. Even if it weren't so sloppily made, the game is so uninspired in design and concept that it would barely merit a rental anyway.

    This game has earned its spot in hell. Hell is the only place for Sonic Boom. With the incredibly repetitive writing, constant glitches, an awful story, and bad graphics, Sonic Boom may very well be Satan himself. Even as a Sonic fan, it is extremely evident that Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric is not good. Poor Sonic.

    I guess you could say that Sonic Team starting doing their crystal meth again and forgot what a Sonic was. And by crystal meth, I mean that Sonic Team must have thought there were bugs all over the game and tried to pick them off. Thus the game has so many scars and cuts because of that.

    The controls are broken have too many button sharing issues. 'A' is used for too many things for example. Movements feel strange and unnatural half the time. Also, the camera tends to act weird and even stop moving with the characters for example.

    The story is very bland and the writing is embarrassingly bad. The "humor" is almost dehumanizing. SEGA really needs to stop making their games so awkward. You can really awesome characters that are funny and witty too, it's definitely possible, just don't make them the way SEGA does. Easy as that.

    No signs of any care from the developers, they didn't even TRY polishing the game. 3 years in development? More like 3 years of slackin' off eating greasy burgers and talking about how much money their wallets can carry.

    Fun Fact: When this game first came out, the officials didn't even allow any reviews of the game to be out for a while, just to reel in as much money as possible. That's... just, pathetic.

    Hey, what's more funny?: The fact that this game is about as broken as the infamous Sonic '06 or that a group of people thought this was a complete, playable, and fun game for the world to enjoy?

I just hate their new character designs; after all, Knuckles should never take steroids. The gameplay is just plain atrocious. They didn't make up their mind if they wanted it to be a Beat em' Up, a Platformer, or a RPG. I know this game is for kids, but thisI knew from the start that this game would suck.     I played the demo out of curiosity, and had to put it down after 5 or so minutes because it was so awful, the controls are horrible, the combat is clunky, the frame rate is horrible, and the voice acting is worse than all of these thinks combined, on the plus side the music, while it's not good, doesn't make me want to kill myself.

    MAN, OH BOY, I can't believe why this game even exists, this game was a complete fire that will from release date 'til forever, Sonic only jogging, glitchy speed sections which only run at 10 FPS (frames per second), And most of all, knuckles infinite jump glitch that got patched out makes the game and the series worst 8th generation game!

    What do you think of when someone brings up a Sonic game? The gameplay? Not here! The story? Why would you ask about the story? At least the music... No they screwed that up too. Glitches? Sorry they patched those... If you need a Sonic game on Wii u, pick up Sonic Lost World. Sonic Lost World isn't great but still more fun than this.

    When I rated sonic 06 I game it a 10 as a joke, but now, play time is over, first of all, the music is extremely bland, but that's not much of a problem because no one will ever shut up, both games have glitches, but at least in sonic boom you have to go out of your way to exploit any glitches, the only good things to come out of this is the cartoon and fire and ice

    No speed stages (Not boring speed sections) Cheesy and corny dialogue and bad story with no replay value and get this if you play on 2p in story mode the game becomes a downgrade EPIC FAIL SEGA    I was Hyped for this game 2 years ago but what Sega and Big Red Button delivered is a broken, buggy, low frame-rate, unpolished game even demo's from the e3 looked better than the final product.

I at least got some enjoyment from Sonic 06. Sonic Boom? No. The music is generic, the levels are generic, the game play is generic, it's all just so generic. And don't get me started on the cardboard cutout characters. Sonic isn't too bad (just generic Sonic with no personality), but Tails is a stereotypical nerd, knuckles is a stereotypical dumb brute, and Amy is the stereotypical girl. Then there's Lyric. He is the most boring, generic antagonist I have ever seen. He has no personality whatsoever. If you want a better Sonic game that actually feels like a Sonic game, I highly recommend Sonic Generations or Sonic Colors. This game isn't worth your time or money. It blows my mind that this game was once $60.… Expand

    Simply put, there are no redeeming qualities in sonic boom. The graphics are poor, the animation is anything but smooth, the framerate hurts your eyes, and the voice acting isn't great either. The music is forgettable as well. At least Sonic '06 had decent music. Do NOT buy this game even at a discount. It's a waste of money and time.

    Tons of bugs and glitches, low frame rate, the fact that the characters won't shut up and even more in this sorry excuse of a game.

    Play any other Sonic game instead of this one.

Missing frames, terrible dialogue, it’s not cleverly written in any way, there is no real threat unless you touch water, the glitches and bugs are so incredibly apparent everywhere, sloppy animation, and uninteresting NPCs.     This sub-franchise in general was only created to satisfy the little kids that liked Sonic '06 and those awful Wii games (except Colors). I gotta admit that this game, along with the TV show made me feel embarassed by being a Sonic fan. Thankfully, Sonic Mania came to clear the damages that this sub-franchise (along with the aforementioned bad games) caused to the Sonic franchise.    … Expand

    It boggles my mind how 100+ people like this game. It's easily one of the worst games I've ever played. The controls are janky, the graphics look like early PS2, story is trash and the game is so acutely unfun. It feels like a LEGO game, starring Sonic the Hedgehog.

    It's a horrendous game, with s**t gameplay, and equally bad graphics. The gameplay is extremely boring, and it feels nothing like a Sonic game. This feels like a cheap LEGO Video Game rip off, but the LEGO games are actually fun. Rise of Lyric is a massive waste of time, it didn't need to exist.     Possibly the worst Sonic game of all time, it's not worth your time. Yes, and all Sonic games from the 10s have certain problems, but in the case of RoL, you shouldn't even pay attention to this.

It is an objectively bad game with almost NOTHING redeeming about it.     Simply put, Sonic Boom is one of the worst Sonic games in recent memory: the concept is bland, the design is awful and the execution is incredibly poor.

    Sonic Boom Rise of Lyric is a real disappointment for Sonic fans. There is basically nothing positive to say about this game. Sonic deserves much better.
