Jul 4, 2016If you want a fun party game this is a great choice… you have the “brand” of the Olympics plus the characters you know (and at least some you probably love). The controls aren’t overly taxing which can be a negative if you like a challenge… but are great for when you just want to enjoy the game, especially with friends.

Jul 3, 2016If you’re looking for a game to take the place of titles like London 2012 or Beijing 2008, then bypass this one. However, if you’re after a game that can offer a few hours of fun for your family a week this summer, this is a must-have.

Jun 29, 2016I love the way Mario & Sonic at the Rio Olympic Games is presented. It’s a truly gorgeous game and matches with every expectation that I have for the atmosphere and aesthetics of the Rio Games. But this is an Olympics cash-in game, which means most events boil down to minigames, rather than fully-fleshed out games dedicated to a particular sport. A good half the events in here are games I would buy if they were built further into stand-alone takes on the sport, but in a package like this I’m basically done with them after playing them a couple of times each.

Pelit (Finland)Sep 28, 2016Mario & Sonic are at it again, and once again the game series breaks its personal best. Although the lack of content is still an issue, this time all the events are planned carefully and the online multiplayer gives something for the lone sportsmen, who don't want to enjoy the newest Nintendolympics in the living room. I'd give this title a bronze medal for effort. [Aug 2016]

Jun 24, 2016Mario and Sonic marks a new record on Wii U and they get the silver medal. It has some problems, related to the lack of challenge and gameplay momentum, but it's still a good olympic videogame. You don't need to wait another four years.

Jun 22, 2016Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games introduce new Rubgy event and new gameplay solutions for existing Olympic events.

Jun 22, 2016Mario & Sonic go back to basics in this new installment of the long-running franchise. Now only a few buttons will suffice for all sports, in a way that reminds closely the gameplay of old Sega arcade titles such as Virtua Athlete. Also, the new "Duel events" add random items, so typical of the Mario Franchise, to three sports for a more "party" approach. However, it could have packed some more sports and scenarios to compete, as it falls short in that regard.
