    The 8th generation is here. Never before has a Cabela's game been grittier, darker, and more mature. The killer app for the Wii-U, Cabela's Dangerous Hunts 2013 retains the core gameplay Cabela fans have come to love, but makes it more accessible to people newer to the series. There is nothing like shooting your way through a stampeding buffalo herd, dropping them by the dozens, only to have your car drive through a tunnel, and you find yourself in a stampeding elephant herd. And boy, let me tell you, do those elephants take a lot of shoots from your desert eagle before going down. There is traditional Cabela hunting segment mixed in as well, such as one segment where you follow a path through a winding jungle, before a cut scene reveals that you must fight a ferocious lion in an enclosed jungle arena.     Cabela's Dangerous Hunts 2013 takes the established and respected Cabela's brand, and launches into the next generation with the Wii-U iteration. Though remaining the traditional hunting simulator that fans have come to love the series for, it does this in an entirely new context. The health and weapons mechanics have undergone a serious overhaul to modernize the game and make itCabela's Dangerous Hunts 2013 takes the established and respected Cabela's brand, and launches into the next generation with the Wii-U iteration. Though remaining the traditional hunting simulator that fans have come to love the series for, it does this in an entirely new context. The health and weapons mechanics have undergone a serious overhaul to modernize the game and make it competitive with other shooters on the markets. Health regenerations automatically now, provided you take cover of course. This leads to frantic and realistic gameplay as you scramble for cover after being charged by a White Rhino, rather than tediously trying to perform first aid on yourself. Guns fire and reload quicker now, allowing the player to put themselves in the thick of things more often. The addition of a story mode provides the breath of fresh air the series so desperately needed. Rather than just being a nameless hunter, wondering the wilderness aimlessly looking for animal to hunt, you are now Andrew, ten years after your father was mauled by a grizzly bear. His death caused a tragic schism between you and your brother, but one more epic hunt may reunite. The context of the story allows for more exciting missions that would have felt out of place in previous games. You can now man the guns in an African safari jeep, mowing ton hordes of buffalo during a stampede. Or you may find yourself defending your winter cabin from wave after wave of ferocious and endangered grey wolf. The intensity never lets up!

    All in all, Cabela's Dangerous Hunts 2013 updates and revitalizes the game series, without sacrificing its core values. 10/10.    … Expand

    As a tie-in game for a line of hunting gear, Cabela's Dangerous Hunts 2013 is surprisingly capable. It's by no means a flawless experience, and we find it hard to recommend it very strongly, but anyone who does decide to give it a shot - so to speak - may find themselves pleasantly surprised.
