Nov 25, 2012The Wii U version of the title is practically the same as the other console versions, but unlike Wii U ports that originally came out months ago, it's possible that prospective buyers have still not purchased it. If that's the case, the Wii U version is as fine option as any, but those who have the game have absolutely no reason to buy it again. Still, forgetting its a port, Assassin's Creed III is the best game in the Wii U launch line-up and should be a must-buy for those yet to experience its incredible adventure.
-
Nov 25, 2012The Wii U version of Assassin's Creed III doesn't endanger what has made the game a masterpiece, and adds a few neat tricks of its own. The GamePad's map and horse calling features are useful tools that you'll enjoy, and being able to play it away from the television can't be understated. If you're going to purchase Assassin's Creed III for a console, the Wii U version is the king of the hill.
-
Dec 7, 2012A right port, with an interesting off-screen function and slight improvements in graphics. There isn't anything new in terms of gameplay. Ubisoft has missed the opportunity of taking advantage of the GamePad functionalities, but Assassin's Creed III is still a great videogame for Wii U.
-
Nov 28, 2012In more ways than one, this fifth installment (of the core console franchise) feels like the definitive Assassin's Creed experience.
-
Dec 4, 2012Technically very close to the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions, Assassin's Creed III on the Wii U takes advantage of some interesting (but is not revolutionary) innovations. The map and the few commands on the GamePad screen are nice, as is the ability to play without TV, on the GamePad itself, but for the rest, the experience is the same and AC3 remains an excellent game.
-
Dec 4, 2012A good port of the best entry in the series, but Ubisoft could have used the gamepad a bit better.
-
Dec 1, 2012The same experiences we've enjoyed on other consoles, keeping all its strengths and weaknesses. There's little use of the GamePad, but Ubisoft didn't want to force the experience.
-
Nov 28, 2012The Wii U adds nothing to the experience, but neither does it take away from what is one of the year's most feature-packed and enthralling epics.
-
Dec 2, 2012AC3 on Wii U has the same content as the other versions with several minor enhancements for the GamePad controller. It's a shame that the frame rate is a little lower and all the bugs of the other versions are still there.
-
Games Master UKJan 15, 2013Almost identical to the Xbox and PS3 versions, but limited GamePad features are disappointing. [Feb 2013, p.75]
-
Dec 7, 2012The great Assassin's Creed 3 suffers of a strained optimization on Wii U. The "Nintendo version" is the worst version of the Ubisoft's latest masterpiece.
-
Jan 8, 2013Assassin's Creed III sure as hell provides one of the best gaming experiences so far on Nintendo's new console. Despite some technical issues the recall value and the hunt for Templars once again round out a great game.
-
Dec 7, 2012If you have yet to pick Assassin's Creed and you recently picked up Nintendo's newest home console it is definitely worth looking at. The perk of playing on your GamePad is a plus and apart from the lack of achievement/trophy hunting (if you're into that sort of thing) I found it to be a solid experience that matches up well with its counterparts.
-
Nov 22, 2012Although it hasn't reviewed the bugs or added important things, Assassin's Creed III is still a great sandbox adventure, with lots to do and a powerful story. One of the best Wii U titles for Christmas.
-
Nov 20, 2012Playing Assassin's Creed III on Wii U's Game Pad is a tad disappointing -- it looks a bit low-res compared to other console ports.
-
Dec 11, 2012It's fantastic, and filled with excitement. "Fantastic" that such a good title has been part of the initial release, and the "excitement" comes from seeing the obvious graphical potential inside the machine, waiting to be exploited by future developers.
-
Dec 26, 2012A massive, lovingly crafted game that's stuffed with things to do, but the limited GamePad functionality and linear mission design are disappointing.
-
Nintendo PowerDec 14, 2012With a few exceptions, the setting, the characters, and the gameplay are excellent. [Dec 2012, p.90]
-
Dec 10, 2012Assassin's Creed III pushes the foundations of the series forward in many new directions, and while a degree of these go sideways the title still manages to pull off one of the most impressive and immersive game worlds we've seen in some time.
-
Dec 6, 2012The Wii U version of Assassin's Creed III is still great, but the lack of cool features for the new GamePad has to be noticed. A number of frame rate issues and some bugs are enough to judge this version of ACIII the less impressive out there.
-
Nov 27, 2012AC3 is a fantastic game that is hampered by its problems, and the Wii U does little to solve them.
-
Dec 7, 2012The story's excellent, the new gameplay elements are a breath of fresh air, and the incorporation of the GamePad make total contextual sense while acting also as a proof of concept for the hardware itself. Without the snafus, I'd say Ubisoft has a Wii U winner on its hands. But some of those glitches are just too hard to overlook.
-
Dec 6, 2012It should have been the same experience as on other consoles. But technical issues, mainly the pop-up distance and frame rate issues hold this assassin back. Not to mention the underutilized GamePad.
-
Nov 28, 2012It's a shame that the Wii U version of Assassin's Creed III is so prone to bugs and performance hitches; fortunately, the joys of exploration still shine through, allowing you to get lost in the bustle of cityfolk going about their lives.
-
Nov 28, 2012At its core, Assassin's Creed III is a very big game with an amazing setting, great exploration, solid gameplay, and a wonderful story. However, it constantly pokes holes in this experience with poor pacing and a myriad of minor issues. Despite this, I still recommend this game to every person who has an interest in the series or its revolutionary setting. It is a good game, but it could be so much better.
-
Dec 4, 2012Combat is incredible, and the cities of Boston and New York deliver some of the strongest open-world gameplay you'll experience this generation. And yet, it's still an extremely uneven experience, even if the strong gameplay outlives the issues to make for a solid package.
