With that being said, Affordable Space Adventures still is a fine puzzle game. If general puzzles aren't your thing, this may be the type of puzzle game you're looking for

If you’re measuring with the typical genre yardstick, Affordable Space Adventures isn’t a particularly great or noteworthy puzzle game, but as an exercise in designing to the Wii U’s strengths and delivering an entertaining, one-of-a-kind co-op experience, it’s a pretty solid success.

One of the best uses of the Wii U GamePad so far and one of the most atmospheric games of the year, even if it does run out of new tricks before the end.

Affordable Space Adventures is an example of a game which is competent and creative enough to keep the player focused on it for a while, but whose technical limitations, slow pace and lack of compelling rewards turn it into a rather dull effort after a certain amount of time.

Affordable Space Adventures fails to deliver a world that demands to be explored; it is far too generic and lacking in fun puzzles, instead only producing too many a tedious moment. Patience is a virtue with this one.

The use of the gamepad is by far the most enjoyable aspect of Affordable Space Adventures. In fact, it's so well done that it's close to being the best use of the gamepad on the Wii U so far. Sadly the game is held back by some serious game design choices, and while it's still playable, it's just not the kind of game that deserves to be remembered as a classic.

Even though it has interesting puzzles and charming art direction, Affordable Space Adventures feels like a missed opportunity.

Fantastic game with a unique co-op mechanism, allowing for someone to control all the ships equipment on the gamepad, while the other steers the ship.

More and more abilities unlock as you play, but its the way the mechanics interweave each other that gives you the "aha!" moment when you figure out what is best used where. It uses the gamepad like no other game before it, and it showcases potential experiences developers can unlock with the platform if they are willing to think outside the box. Full Review »

I play a lot of puzzle oriented games, but this is a cut above all the other similar games I played in the last couple of years. Excellent blend of atmosphere and gameplay. For all sci-fi fans who like ironic/grim tones (Kurt Vonnegut, Douglas Adams, Ray Bradbury), players who enjoyed Portal and Half Life, and people interested in novel, tight gameplay in general.
