At first this seems like a great game, but eventually the levels become poorly designed. Specifically, they are designs where if you get through the first part of the level and you get to the second part [yay! i did it!] at the wrong time in the second part's sequence, you die instantly. You have to predict the exact timing of the rest of the level, and that isn't fun. If you surviveAt first this seems like a great game, but eventually the levels become poorly designed. If you survive the first part, you should have a chance at the second part, [it should be a "sure you could die instantly, but in an avoidable way" situation], this is just immature gratuitous game design Expand

1001 Spikes is a fun, varied and well-designed 2D platformer that makes use of old-school mechanics to impose a steep difficulty curve and a thousand and one obstacles that even experienced players will find challenging. A very welcome addition to the eShop’s library.

But somehow, the small scale trials found in the levels of 1001 Spikes bring me back. Grabbing the key and making it inches from the stage door before dying carries a similar weight, and makes realizing the far-fetched goal all the sweeter.

The sheer volume of content on offer here is quite impressive, as is the presentation.
