Despite a few bumps along the way, Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution is the best Yu-Gi-Oh video game I have played in years. Opening booster packs to build your best deck out of the cards you have is the perfect simulacrum of actually playing the trading card game (unless you’d prefer to just buy the single cards you need online), and the choice to include no real-money purchases whatsoever helps mitigate the cost sink that has kept me away from the physical card game in the past. There will never be a Yu-Gi-Oh game that is quite the same as simply playing with real cards, but Legacy of the Duelist is the closest that we have ever gotten to the real thing.

Collecting the cards from any TCG series is fantastic and rewarding, but realistically not everyone can afford to participate in such a hobby. Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution gives players a way to access over 9000 cards by simply playing and earning them as they go along. No micro-transactions or DLC keep them locked behind a wall; it’s all wrapped up in one package. Those who love the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG will be happy to know this is an amazing experience for as simple and straight-forward as it is. It’s hard to stop playing when there’s so many cards waiting to be unlocked, a variety of modes and near endless decks that can be made. There’s no better time to duel than with the current best digital take on the TCG that is Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution.

Despite not having an ideal system for obtaining cards and that the online mode needs a revision, this title reminds us of how entertaining a TCG can be. Konami offers a very funny product that fans will appreciate.

9000 cartes a collectionner, une quantité importante de duel tirés de la série.
Fan du Yu-Gi-Oh sauté dessus, c'est le meilleur jeu de la série.

The best Yugioh simulator you could ask for! You get to replay the storylines of the first six series, using either the story character's deckThe best Yugioh simulator you could ask for! You get to replay the storylines of the first six series, using either the story character's deck or your own. Building your own deck is easy and cards unlock very quickly, in fact you start out with a basic beat-down deck that is more than capable of beating the early opponents. Once you beat a computer character, you can do a "reverse duel", where you play as the person you just defeated. After beating that, you can unlock a much harder version of that character.

The game is a perfect balance of storyline and straight up dueling. If you want, you can skip all the cutscenes and use your own deck, making it like some of the Yugioh games of old. Or, you can read through all the story text and use the deck accurate to the character you're playing as, the choices are yours. In that way, I think the game will appeal to all Yugioh fans.

On the negative side, there is the repetitive music. There are only 5 or 6 battle tracks, and for most of the story you only hear 3 of them. Also, the VRAINS campaign has only 4 characters (unless you download the update).

this is everything you loved about the original and much much more there are now 9000+ cards in the already massive game. however the oldthis is everything you loved about the original and much much more there are now 9000+ cards in the already massive game. however the old ruling is gone and i loved master rule 3 i think there should be a switch to change it. although it fixes some things like load times and the attacking animations being gone replaced with the summoning animations much like duel links. over all this game has much that separates it from the original but still maintains that original yugioh charm. definitely worth a buy. This is everything you'd want out of a Yu-Gi-Oh! game.
However, I would have loved to see an open world experience like in the Tag Force

    Still a great time though.

The singleplayer is great, the online experience is tolerable, a good yugioh game that tries to tell the stories from the shows

I think the dev team did a great job buildingI'm a huge fan of the original manga, so my review is based on the campaign of the first anime. I think the dev team did a great job building these decks. They captured the essence of the manga very well. For example, in the duel against Bones, you have to use sword and shield to defeat his strong zombie monsters who have 0 DEF; in the duel against PaniK, his cards keep you from attacking, so your key card is Catapult Turtle. The matches are not always balanced very well, so winning a "reverse duel" against the story deck can be tough. But this is a minor issue. The decision that the player can chose between their own deck and the well-crafted story decks is also great. And the switch controls make it easier to play with touch controls.
However, I have one major complaint: The game is too slow. It's not possible to change the gameplay speed in the options. Even compared to old titles such as NIghtmare Troubadour or Stairway to the Destined Duel (for the Game Boy Advaced!), the gameplay is so slow. The game constantly asks where you want to put a card, although it does not matter at all for the first generation of Yu-Gi-Oh. The AI takes a long time to deliberate. For a simple game like first generation Yu-Gi-Oh, this is taking a ridiculous amount of time.
Other minor issues are the boring presentation: The story is skippable, the backgrounds and music extremely simple and monotonous. But even when it is watered down like this, Yu-Gi-Oh is still a lot of fun.

    Garbage.
    The story campaign is unplayable.
All of the story decks are absolute trash, resulting in 100% of your losses coming from a brick hand instead of your own lack of skill. Meanwhile, your opponent's deck will always have actual synergy. Totally unfair, poor design, who on the dev team let their 6 year old build these story decks?
Wins do not come from skill, but from pure raw luck, you just need to hope and pray you don't have a garbage opening hand full of high-level Monsters you can't even use.
I know I could just use a deck I build myself, but the point of this game is to feel like I'm playing the anime, and I can't do that without decks themed around the characters I'm playing as. The game fails at it's "play through the anime" selling point. If I was gonna play a game where I build my own deck, I'd either just play the actual card game in real life, or I'd go play Tag Force.
Oh, and not to mention sometimes the game crashes during a duel.
When I got to the duel with Dartz, that's when I decided to call it quits and play a game with actual gameplay in it.
    Done with this.
Sorry, Konami, but I only play good games.
