With a new handheld format comes a new Yu-Gi-Oh! title, and while Link Evolution offers a compelling and modernised take on the Card Game for both fans and novices alike, with almost infinite play styles and strategy possibilities, it retains the stale interface and storytelling of its original form.

There’s no doubt that Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelists: Link Evolution has a few problems of its own – the delays between actions and the randomness of card deliveries still rankle – but that doesn’t stop this from being the best version of the game yet. Hardcore devotees will notice that its 9,000+ card archive is missing a few key special cards, but as a virtual representation of the long-running TCG, this is a formidable beast. With no microtransactions, a constant stream of cards to unlock and a streamlined recreation of all six seasons of the anime, this ranks as one of the best CCGs on Switch – if you can overlook its somewhat irksome issues.

Despite some minor issues that hold it back from being the ultimate Yu-Gi-Oh! game, this is a fantastic reminder of how enjoyable the card game is and why players fell in love with it in the first place.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution! is the definitive encyclopedia of the famous card game.

this is everything you loved about the original and much much more there are now 9000+ cards in the already massive game. however the oldthis is everything you loved about the original and much much more there are now 9000+ cards in the already massive game. however the old ruling is gone and i loved master rule 3 i think there should be a switch to change it. although it fixes some things like load times and the attacking animations being gone replaced with the summoning animations much like duel links. over all this game has much that separates it from the original but still maintains that original yugioh charm. definitely worth a buy. This is the definitive Yu-Gi-Oh game! I play the TCG since year 2001 and the campaign mode is awesome, so many memories from when I was a kid.
