The game is a HUGE improvement in every sense imaginable! Amazing cutscenes, refined and expanded battle system and clear resolution on TV and docked mode. Don’t be fooled by the shills trying to review bomb it for some reason. Great game and a total must buy if you love this series or like JRPGs in general.

Better than DE and Torna, maybe even XB2 in my opinion, imo it is obvious that anyone who enjoys what Monolith Soft does will really enjoy XB3. The switch is hard showing its age which is going to drive away some players.

Best in the series by far, as it should! Masterpiece, they keep introducing new mechanics way past the opening chapters, this could be complicated but everything is explained and the slow approach makes it feel like im learning and even evolving the characters. Many games i just put down, but this i cant put down.

Handheld or docked, i like both. It runs very good in my opinion and is

Chronicles of Tedious Design: The Game. Another mediocre modern JRPG with clumsy "depth" and "world building" that actually just amounts to uninspired padding and awkward pacing. Tons of potential unrealized in this series and this is the same.

Best comedy game i played in years but after awhile it gets hard to enjoy the terrible dialog and cringy moments cause characters constantly repeated the same 2 lines and everything takes to long.

Level design and story does not live up to original Xenoblade Chronicles. It's a solid game with beautiful graphics and music but it struggles to bring something new/better than original game. Characters are bland and mostly generic.

Expand

    Better combat machanics.

    And remarkable characters.

Being totally new to the series I went in fresh. After about a dozen hours of play my thoughts are:

+ Automatic hack & loot action RPG that is easy to pick up and good for on-the-go plays + Nice graphics considering the obvious compromises made to run the game on the legacy hardware. - Terrible storytelling, cliche, slow paced and overwrought. - Emo-teen cast, cliched storylines

    - Terrible storytelling, cliche, slow paced and overwrought.
    - Emo-teen cast, cliched storylines and very repetitive voiced (combat)lines
    - “Open world” blocked by invisible walls and one-shot enemies that forces you to stay on the main route
    - The many systems “layered” upon one another are rather superfluous. The combat mechanics are rather easy and enemies fall (too) quickly. This causes you to level-up (too) fast which in turn means you are overpowered for many encounters.

Despite the many lack luster elements, the hack & loot mechanic has me hooked and frequently returning. As such, I currently rate this a 6 but perhaps it will improve as the game slowly opens up with more play.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After being so overwhelmend with XBC 1 and especially 2 this game is such a downer. The characters are boring as hell. No jokes at all because everyone is sooooo sensitive and woke and thus maximum boring and unapproachable. One might almost think it was produced for the new western market where every character needs to be totally correct and mindful so that no gamer might be offended in some way. The result are shallow characters. And then the world. Damn, I mean, big worlds are nice but this is just running and running and running for nothing. Maybe the story is thrilling? Not yet. I am in chapter 4 now. But so far it could be a more stupid and artificial narrative of good and evil (oooh, humans fight each other but it turns out they are just the puppets of some evil masters... laaaame). It is just so predictable that even a spin will not be satisfiying. But maybe the combat and looting system is fun? NO! It is just repetitive and intransparent. I mean a group of 6 + 1 hero whereby 6 are controlled by AI. Wow. When the combat system in XBC 2 was fun as hell imo this one is kind of the opposite. Even the chain attacks are just not satisfying. After Monolith soft convinced me with XBC 1 and 2 and even their assistance in Zelda Breath of the Wild I bought the game plus the extension pass for 100 Euro. Well, a huge disappointment. I dont get why so many people here rate that game so high. I don't play that many games but if this is considered great for the majority I don't wanna know how bad it can be on the market. Maybe some positive thing: The side quest are not that useless as in XBC 1 and 2. Thus 5 points as I am playing it but always with a bad feeling in the gut and unsure to continue. Expand

This game is a steaming pile of garbage. The greedy developers are charging $60 for a mobile game. The graphics are a joke. The ground textures are pathetic, it literally looks like it was ported from a GameCube game. The story is terrible. The combat is boring and repetitive.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 I have no doubt is my personal Game of the Year after consuming roughly 200 hours of my life. I can say now that I've finished all 200+ quests, maxed out all affinity in every area, found every collectable and unlocked every class for every character - This is the everything the series has built up to and more.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is the most emotional journey yet. Taking place in a world consumed by endless war, the stakes have never been higher nor has the situation of the main cast ever felt more hopeless. If the world of the first game was a struggle, and the story of the second was an uphill battle, then the third entry is a seemingly bottomless pit with only a glimmer of light to chase after. Building from the intense cutscenes already perfected in 2, each story moment in 3 had me hanging off the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next, and how the heroes could possibly come out on top. This made the feeling of hope mean more in this game than either before, and gave us easily the best villains of the franchise thus far.

It must be also be said that this is my favorite cast of characters to date, and that's a result of the brilliant writing right from the start of the journey. Getting the entire cast within the first hour or so is initially jarring, but because of that I grew to love them as a whole even more than any of the cast before then. With an air of mystery about each one, traveling with them and growing with them, watching their struggles and achievements as I learned about them. All these factors led to me becoming emotionally invested into each one, leading to many smiles, tears, and laughter, sometimes all at the same time. Even all the extra party members you gain along the way were super enjoyable and well written, making each one feel like a full cast member with the time spent with them. Between the amazing writing of both the plot and characters, each twist and turn of this journey had me just as invested as the highlight moments of 1 and 2, and that feeling kept with me the entire game.

Gameplay wise it's a no-brainer that this is the best. 7 party members battling at once, incorporating the combat systems of both the previous games into an amazing hybrid that goes a step further with the fusion mechanic. Chain attacks are at their best, interlinking adds a fun element to the game, and you always feel great engaging in every battle. Changing and unlocking new character classes always made the battle feel fresh and fun. Some of my favorite tracks from the franchise to date come from this entry, including a new version of "You Shall Know Our Names" that equals the original to me in every way. The world is the biggest and most vast it has been yet, and even after dozens of hours of pure exploration, I'm certain I've not yet seen it all. The new way the areas and affinities are handled was my favorite yet, giving me a feeling of being more invested into the world of this game than either of the other two games (which says a lot when considering Colony 4 in the first game; every area felt like that to me). I wondered how they would surpass the Blade Quests from 2, and the Hero Quests did that and so much more. Thanks to them the line is now forever blurred between main quests and side quests, and I couldn't be happier about that.

The amount of content in this game is just incredible. The biggest world yet to explore, filled with so much to see and do. The most in-depth quests, the biggest chapters each filled with intensity and emotion, and an amazing soundtrack that pushes all the above forward. A perfect cast, an amazing story, and a journey so unique and unlike anything I've ever gone on... Yes, to me, this game was perfect. To go a step further, I now consider Xenoblade to be the perfect trilogy of games. Each one tells its own story, but they all connect to each other in some way, and each one really grows from the entry before it and can be appreciated more by those who played their predecessors. I'm not certain I can ever pick a favorite anymore, as each game delivers an experience unlike any that came before it, forming a perfect triangle - three pillars that stand strongly and independently, but hold one another up to new heights. Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is no different; a bold new entry delivering an experience unlike any I've felt before, yet still managing to raise the bar the series has set before it.

Easily one of the best JRPGs of all time and for a good reason. It's incredible how well the characters are designed and how they develop over the story. The combat is smooth and super fun if you understand the mechanics. The only problem I currently have with the game is that the final boss wasn't well-designed compared to the other installments in the series.

This is definitely a must play

    It's disappointing and angry
You created XC and XC2 with your own hands, but chose to destroy everything in XC3.

I loved the first 30 hours I played and then the next 50 were a mix of love hate and almost giving up.

Finished the main story at a bit over 80 hours. The decision to leave several dozens of hours of side content unfinished was a difficult one but one that was necessary for me to make. The story is the best thing about the game...up until about halfway. Any time a story gets so

The story is the best thing about the game...up until about halfway. Any time a story gets so long I need to set down my controller and start checking my email, go to the bathroom, make a sandwich, and check my email again because it still hasn't finished is too long and something many JRPGs suffer from. This one didn't start out that way. The story which begins as an exploration of self and identify ends on a lofty scifi trope that is played out and you really miss those more personal interactions.

    The graphics are dated.

The environment is HUGE! So big and grand that you stop many times to just take in the view. However the creatures feel repetitive and like a mmo from 2 decades ago.

Combat is interesting but mostly pointless. You control 1 character out of 7 on screen so the A.I. is doing most of the fighting. You are just there to manage and hit some appropriate timed strategy actions.

Based on my first week of play I might have given this game of the year. Now I can only say that if fell short in a few areas. Not a bad JRPG but not special enough to be remembered long.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is a clear improvement over its predecessors in almost every way. It streamlines so much and avoids past pitfalls, though there’s still work to be done in terms of balancing the difficulty. There’s a grounded story here with a solid cast of characters, and the basic plot is much easier to digest. The world design exceeds past efforts with ease, and the implementation of Hero Quests is a game changer. While the devs have done an admirable job making the battle system easier to grasp, it feels like the series has fully explored and exhausted these core combat mechanics, signaling it’s time for the next game to change things up. As a whole, it stands as a phenomenal RPG with a one-of-a-kind sense of exploration you can’t find anywhere else.
