After 40 hours, the game is close to customs clearance. There are some small problems, such as no atlas, but the game is excellent on the whole, and the system has evolved a lot. I personally like the story, but it is a little slow in the early stage。

I'm shocked by the amount of complexity, and even more-so that this level of complexity was made palettable. The class system is truly innovative, and the side mechanics like gemcrafting and cooking feel genuinely useful. Other systems such as inventory managment, ether collecting, and temporary party members serve to make an overarching system more complex than I could've anticipated. But not in a way that takes away from the grand picture, rather, they simply make it even more beautiful.

Combat is revolutionized in this game with the ability to change the class of any character. When classes are mastered, abilities can be shared between classes. You can freely switch between party members in and out of battle, all if whome have their own classes with mastered abilities and inherent strengths and waeknesses. Combine all of this with the fusion and chain attack mechanics, and there's never a dull moment in battle. I couldn't have said this about previous titles in the franchise... not to say they were dull all of the time. One thing they nailed in particular is the feeling that weapons actually weigh as heavy or as light as they look. When you're beating an enemy around with a giant hammer every swing takes it's time; when the swing lands you send the enemy flying, and upon contact you feel a satisfying rumble in the controller and witness a brief pause on screen. All of which emphasizes the gravity of each blow.

Another impressive feat is that sidequests don't feel unbearably generic like in past titles. Don't get me wrong, collecting mushrooms for some nameless NPC is a staple of just about any JRPG. But I'd be lying if I said it isn't a breath of fresh air to feel like I'm doing something meaningful, even when completing quests apart from the main questline. "Hero" quests categorically speaking stand out as interesting side-plots with the always satisfying reward of unlocking a new class, which can then be used to master new abilities as well as unlock fasion in the way of new outfits. Speaking of the main questline, it is undeniably the strongest in the series. Where the others touched on similar subjects, they failed to make them feel truly heavy or meaningful like they feel in this latest installment. Monolithsoft has struck the perfect balance of light heartedness and soul crushing peril.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is an obvious must-play. Now standing tall above the rest of its peers as a shining example of what others should shoot for in terms of complexitiy, digestibility, and overall narrative.

+ Good battle system but a bit of annoying un-skippable animation.
+ Large map with beautiful graphic (the best on the Switch I think)
+ Decent music though weaker than XBC and XBC2
+ XBC and XBC2 fans will happily see some familiar faces
    Cons
    - Too many boring memory movies in the first 3 chapters of the game, revoke my feeling of watching anime, but I cannot speed up, hopefully, next time they will add fast forwarding function (not skip or I need to check the movie after the game).
    - The tempo of storytelling is awfully stepped back from XBC and XBC2, I didn't really get into the game until finishing chapter 4.
    - Some of the most important information about the world in this game is in subrequests that you don't need to finish, and even some are in subrequests after you finished the game. I don't think this is a good subrequest design pattern. You shouldn't put the main story into the subrequest to have some decent requests.
    - The ending, gives me an unfinished feeling. This is the true drawback of this game. Is this implying the DLC contents? Why publish an unfinished game then?

    I'd give this game 5/10.

The game optimizes many shortcomings of the previous game. The design of the regional task is a big breakthrough. I like it very much. The plot is very deep. I have to think about it before I can understand it. In general, xc3 has completed the evolution of the series. I look forward to the future xc.

The last chapter of this wonderful JRPG trilogy (I would dare to say, the best of this millennium), could not close in a better way; really EVERYTHING does well.

It is almost impossible to do a better job than what the Monolith guys have achieved with this game, which improves (and even makes it look outdated in several aspects) its predecessors, which were already geniuses for the respective release times.

A story that refocuses the tone of the franchise, but not only superficially, but in a deep and substantial way with the great mythology that ended up being established.

Memorable cast of characters (the best of the trilogy), with many layers of depth, thanks to its great development and well-cared dialogue.

One of the most complex and ambitious combat systems seen in any single-player video game in history.

The world is incredibly vast, very well crafted, full of views, heights, forks; things to do, which not only help to make the content of the game more robust, but also help to improve the internal lore for the world in question.

Memorable soundtrack; Yasunori Mitsuda never disappoints, with one of the best selections of melancholy-sad music ever seen in any video game, and with a lot of influence on the diegesis of the world, due to the theme of the flutes.

Tons of improvements to the interfaces and menus, as well as help to make the game more accessible to practically everyone (which is quite ironic, since this, along with the XCX, are the most complex Xenoblades).

In short, we are facing perhaps the game of the year 2022 in general terms, probably the best game of the entire Nintendo Switch console, and, roughly speaking, one of the best video games ever created.

    Many congratulations to Monolith Soft.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Muchas felicitaciones a Monolith Soft.

    + Graphics

    - Story well said, but uninteresting and very slow pacing
    - bigger party size make mess on screen and its hard to see whats going on, not even think if tactics is optimal
    - side quests seems to be repetetive and not rewarding
    - even lower sense of progression than in previous games
    - some builds are much stronger than other which force to play those to be efficient
    - chain attacks are slowing game way too much
    - Special form of characters is weaker than characters without it

Edit: After 50 hours in i stopped playing. rating of 7/10 remains unchaged, as i see XC3 to be worse in many aspects as its predecessors.

This game is pretty awesome thus far. (20 hours in) Slow in the beginning and I actually started skipping cutscenes as they rival MGS4 lengths, as I just enjoy exploring the open world (which is massive) I'm familiar with the FF12 style of JRPG grinding so this game is my jam.

I really didn't enjoy Xenoblade 2, therefore this game automatically placed ahead of it, but I must admit, I

I really didn't enjoy Xenoblade 2, therefore this game automatically placed ahead of it, but I must admit, I think I still enjoyed Shulk and the gang more... Maybe it's just me but the MC in this game.... well his man bun kinda looks weird in my opinion..... lol. But no big deal. Must be getting old, Just thought Shulk looked so much cooler.

This game is certainly worth the buck, but probably an acquired taste for the hardcore JRPG fanatics. I would have given this an 8.5, but the review bombs are pretty laughable. So gotta show this game some love.

Ok I'm hooked, eagerly awaiting the 4th entry now on the Switch 5000. lol

Played XB1 but never finished it. I really hated XB2 so much that I dropped it. XB3 will probably be the only Xenoblade game I will complete. The combat is so fun. it's what drew me into this game in the first place. The gameplay alone is worth trying this game out. Beware the early game on hard mode, it is extremely hard. Expand

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is a clear improvement over its predecessors in almost every way. It streamlines so much and avoids past pitfalls, though there’s still work to be done in terms of balancing the difficulty. There’s a grounded story here with a solid cast of characters, and the basic plot is much easier to digest. The world design exceeds past efforts with ease, and the implementation of Hero Quests is a game changer. While the devs have done an admirable job making the battle system easier to grasp, it feels like the series has fully explored and exhausted these core combat mechanics, signaling it’s time for the next game to change things up. As a whole, it stands as a phenomenal RPG with a one-of-a-kind sense of exploration you can’t find anywhere else.
