Stupid game made me feel a lot of things. Incredible. Anything under 10/10 is too low for this one.

Boring combat system where I am just sitting there with the controller in my hand waiting for the character to finish an auto attack. The world looks bland but I can live with that.

Amazing game 100/10, this time they made sure to have a strong start different from XB2. It has an incredible soundtrack and the combo system / gameplay is top notch.

I'm tired of people complaining about the graphics when the game is already pushing beyond the limits of the switch, I also wish it was in a more capable console so the game could shine even more, hopefully one day Nintendo

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After being so overwhelmend with XBC 1 and especially 2 this game is such a downer. The characters are boring as hell. No jokes at all because everyone is sooooo sensitive and woke and thus maximum boring and unapproachable. One might almost think it was produced for the new western market where every character needs to be totally correct and mindful so that no gamer might be offended in some way. The result are shallow characters. And then the world. Damn, I mean, big worlds are nice but this is just running and running and running for nothing. Maybe the story is thrilling? Not yet. I am in chapter 4 now. But so far it could be a more stupid and artificial narrative of good and evil (oooh, humans fight each other but it turns out they are just the puppets of some evil masters... laaaame). It is just so predictable that even a spin will not be satisfiying. But maybe the combat and looting system is fun? NO! It is just repetitive and intransparent. I mean a group of 6 + 1 hero whereby 6 are controlled by AI. Wow. When the combat system in XBC 2 was fun as hell imo this one is kind of the opposite. Even the chain attacks are just not satisfying. After Monolith soft convinced me with XBC 1 and 2 and even their assistance in Zelda Breath of the Wild I bought the game plus the extension pass for 100 Euro. Well, a huge disappointment. I dont get why so many people here rate that game so high. I don't play that many games but if this is considered great for the majority I don't wanna know how bad it can be on the market. Maybe some positive thing: The side quest are not that useless as in XBC 1 and 2. Thus 5 points as I am playing it but always with a bad feeling in the gut and unsure to continue. Expand

XC3 is probably the best in the series as a 'game': the combat system is in top form, the side quests are fun and actually worth doing (side quests are garbage in XC1&2), and progression feels compelling. I haven't yet gotten bored at 40 hours. Also, the game gets bonus points for taking the Nopon mostly out of focus. They have always been cringe and stupid.

*HOWEVER* -- strangely, I still *liked* XC1&2 more. The story of XC1 - the whole Bionis/Mechonis situation - is simply unbeatable, and outshines any of its gameplay flaws; it is the best. The characters of XC2 -- Pyra, Mythra, Nia, Gramps, Rex, and the rest of the (non-Nopon) party -- are, to me at least, highly loveable and fun to be around. Even though XC2 is infuriating in many ways, I always stuck with it because I just loved adventuring with its characters. XC3 doesn't meet XC1's story or XC2's characters, and so, even though it may be the best constructed game in the series, I just like it a bit less than the others.

That said, I am currently in Chapter 6 of 7, and the story is really starting to open up. Once you start to learn about what's 'really going on' in the world of XC3, it gets good. -- But it took me 40 hours to get to that point! And that's too long. The writing up until Chapter 6 is a little bit too vanilla and there's not enough chemistry between the characters to save things, as was the case in XC2.

Despite all this ... XC3 is still a great game! Really enjoying my time with it, and I'll definitely be beating it soon.

The best in the series and probably the best RPG since Chrono Trigger. 10/10 OST, 10/10 story, 10/10 gameplay. Graphics are surely held back by the Switch but are still as good as they could have gotten.

I’m a huge fun of JRPG but after a long time of waiting, I have to admit that this game disappointed me.
The first 4 chapters of this game is so boring that I couldn’t concentrate on the game. And then a pretty ridiculous plot twist happened between chapter 5 and 6, honestly I didn’t feel any emotional frustration during these events. Then chapter 7 had the most unfinished-feeling ending in the whole Xeno-series. Also, there were so much plot holes in the story I just can’t make it up and understand what exactly happened.
It’s time for Takahashi to retire. If XBC and XBC2 are 9/10,I’ll give this game 0/10.

Almost perfect. My only complaints are the obnoxious, unskippable tutorials and how hard it is to find certain quest markers later in the game. Story is amazing, game play is amazing, music is amazing, environments are amazing.

MonolithSoft deserves so much credit for their fantastic work on Xenoblade 3. They have managed to create a modern JRPG masterpiece. XB3 has taken the best parts of 1&2 and added a ton of new, impressive systems to combat, traversal, and party customization all the while keeping the wonderful world building, music, characters, and awesome art style of the Xeno franchise. Best game in the series and I loved the first two games! Special shoutout to the complexity and smart design of the combat. The variety is sheer madness when it comes to party customization with classes, mechs, and chain attacks. Incredible improvements to the quality of life elements added to all the menus, navigation, etc in game compared to the first two games. Highly recommended! Expand

If you like this game, you probably also like sniffing paint. I have never played a more soulless, lifeless RPG than Xenoblade. The gameplay is awful, the storyline might as well not even exist. It's incredibly boring. Nintendo fanboys need to submit this to Goodwill and go play Final Fantasy VII remake. Not this low budget piece of crap.

The story (darker than the previous ones), characters, soundtracks, graphics (for a Switch of course) everything is great. If you like JRPG, i strongly recommend you to give it a try. The handheld mode runs pretty well and it wasn't the case for the previous games of the series.

I really respect the opinion of other people, but I do not understand why Metacritic allow haters participate providing their useless opinion in this platform.

This is a love letter to all Xenoblade fans when it comes to all the references of past games. Without getting into too much detail or spoilers there is just a few caveats to the game that hinders it to have a perfect score, like the fact that all initial tutorials are vast and not skippable.

Now for the goods things: The combat mechanic is mostly unchanged from previous games, in fact, it feels like a combination of Xenoblade 1, 2 and Torna DLC, while also simplifying its chain attack functionality. Leveling became non tedious thanks to the existence of new mob category (ELITE) which grants a minimum of 150% EXP bonus, combined this with overkill, a chain attack function which adds a 300% EXP bonus and you have the recipe of easy leveling.

Story is very intriguing and it doesn't shy away from the concepts of betray, grief, despair, death and fear. it shows a very crude reality of war, while also introducing concepts of existentialism something that most Xeno series include on their stories.

Overall, its a well rounded story, gameplay is smooth and dynamic, cinematics are incredibly filled with emotion from the characters involved, and the game engine can handle heavy amounts of passive and aggressive NPC without feeling slow or stuttering, making its vast world feel alive and not empty at all.

Definitely a decent game with an interesting story but after 70 hours, I can’t help but notice that the characters just aren’t as likable as they were in Xenoblade 2 and I just don’t care as much about the cut scenes. Are Japanese devs dumbing down characters to appease the blandness of present day western culture? That’s the vibe I get.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is a clear improvement over its predecessors in almost every way. It streamlines so much and avoids past pitfalls, though there’s still work to be done in terms of balancing the difficulty. There’s a grounded story here with a solid cast of characters, and the basic plot is much easier to digest. The world design exceeds past efforts with ease, and the implementation of Hero Quests is a game changer. While the devs have done an admirable job making the battle system easier to grasp, it feels like the series has fully explored and exhausted these core combat mechanics, signaling it’s time for the next game to change things up. As a whole, it stands as a phenomenal RPG with a one-of-a-kind sense of exploration you can’t find anywhere else.
