    The sun has frozen over, succumbing to the Wildfrost. The town of Snowdwell and its survivors stand as the last bastion against an eternal winter... Build up a deck of powerful card companions and elemental items, as you battle to reach the Sun Temple and banish the frost once and for all!

    • Perfect your card battling skills and craft a deck unique to you, as you journey across an unforgiving frosty landscape.

    • Collect and upgrade card companions, ready to withstand waves of deceptively cute Pengoons, Gobblers and brutish boss monsters.

    • Plan ahead in battles with the help of a dynamic counter system to map out your next move and fend off frosty foes.

    Wildfrost is refreshingly well made and innovative, and quite addictive, so if you like a card game that never gets monotonous, then Wildfrost is just the thing for you.

    Wildfrost is an excellent roguelike deck builder, able to stand out from the crowded genre with fresh ideas and outstanding presentation. The ice-cold level of difficulty still needs a bit of fine-tuning.

    While the difficulty can become a little too frustrating at times, Wildfrost’s card-based combat is consistently fun. Seeing the town of Snowdwell progress is a fantastic incentive to keep playing, and it’s more than enough to keep you coming back for ‘just one more’ run.

    Sleek presentation and engrossingly deep gameplay makes Wildfrost a distinctive roguelike deckbuilder. It’s a brutal learning curve that might snow you in, but if you persevere and learn you’ll have an overall great time with the game.

    So far though, I’ve liked what I’ve seen in Wildfrost. I’m a big fan of how cute the art is in this otherwise brutal game. Plus, it was really easy to just pick up and play. But I wish that the game allowed me to refresh my options in the beginning or made expanding Snowdwell feel a bit more rewarding. I enjoyed unlocking new cards, but there was never much fanfare. I also wished I could use leftover bling instead of accomplishments to add more cards to the hub. You really needed to get lucky with RNG to get the necessary cards. Nonetheless, Wildfrost is a game as beautiful, cruel, and cold as its sunless environment. Players going in will have to prepare to sink hours into building their dream deck… and punching their pillow.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game has hours of enthralling gameplay allowing you to create and use a variety of different cards to create insanely overpowered combos. However when you beat the final boss it makes your deck become the final boss.
    This makes the game so much fun as you delve into runs creating teams that are strong enough to beat your last team progressively increasing the difficulty as you make better and better teams to beat your last one.

To start with, the game is tricky for sure. It has a lot of unique mechanics and it took me a while to start winning runs. Key things to grasp are positioning and recall of units, and not leaning into one mechanic too heavily. Once this game clicks it's fantastic - each run is different and there are fun ways of "breaking" the game with overpowered synergies. There's a tonne of value here too - three factions to learn, a daily run with online leaderboards and a tonne of fun achievements to shoot for. The visuals and general theme are fantastic and the music is catchy but non-intrusive. Don't listen to the haters - give it a try and spend some time learning the mechanics.… Expand

    Beautiful card design, game mechanics that are well made, and good music.
    The gameplay is different. At one side easy, at other side hard.

    At first, I spent a long time trying to finish the game; now I'm trying to beat (spoiler) my former team (/spoiler). It's frustrating at times, but maybe that's why I enjoy it. Finally, a game that doesn't try to please everyone but stands up for itself.    … Expand

    So many things are wrong with it, how it limits your potential for trying new build.
    punishes you as a new player and basically making it impossible to beat a run on your first tries just because the game didnt unlock enough meta progression stuff. WTFFFF.
    Dog **** of a game.
    I give it 2 for visuals, that's it.
