Great atmosphere, solid characters, and the level at which you can upgrade your character is deep but not daunting... That being said the game can be a real slog! Too many locked doors and blocked pathways force you to take a 30 minute trek through the city to do one simple task. There's no fast travel so you'll find yourself backtracking non-stop!!! The combat is fun but the boss fights are so hard you'll begin the hate the game. Plus if you use an item and then die that item will not reginerate so you better pray you don't die in a boss fight or youl find yourself slogging through the city for 20 minutes trying to get items back for the boss fight... Hard to recommend based on how bored and frustrated I got but if you're a fan of this style of game it has enough going for it that you should try it out. Expand

Poor framerate and controller lag still haunt this game since release. It doesn’t bode well that it’s version 0.4 and we haven’t gotten one update since that day one patch. Game seems like it could be fun but I highly recommend pc, ps4, or Xbox for a more fluid experience. Seems this was a quick release for cash and zero support. It is not getting any better I’m sure.

Fix the combat and you've got a very good game here. Otherwise, Vampyr is a tedious slog through some amazing environments, coupled with poorly realized button-mashing and wayfinding that borders on cruelty. The Switch version holds up well, but the source material wasn't strong enough to warrant a port in the first place.

The port is very shaky... in the five hours I’ve played so far, it Has crashed multiple times, loads at inopportune moments, and looks a bit fuzzy. But it’s still the whole game, and the story and dialogue is great. Recommended if you play on easy and just enjoy it as more of a visual novel.

"Vampyr has a fantastic narrative filled with layered NPCs that are a joy to interact with, interesting quests, meaningful choices, and stellar voice acting. However, it is let down by a myriad of technical issues and dire combat. For anyone out there looking for an RPG focused on Vampires, I would highly recommend this game – but play it on Story Mode difficulty so you don’t have to worry"Vampyr has a fantastic narrative filled with layered NPCs that are a joy to interact with, interesting quests, meaningful choices, and stellar voice acting. this game is on the fence for me. it does have a great story, but the graphics on the switch port is just ps1 quality. the graphics ruins the fun the game has in the story as everyone looks like a boiled potato. i expected more from the port as it was done by the same people who did the witcher 3 port for switch, and the graphics looked amazing. Buy it for the story, and nothing else

If you’re looking for a game on the go that’ll last you a few dozen hours (if you’re the completionist type), Vampyr delivers that. But that also means spending a few dozen hours with a game that’s not particularly interesting, and I don’t know why you’d want to bother with that.

The port appears to be faithful to the original 2018 game, so if you enjoyed your time with that, London is yours to explore on the go. But I would be hesitant to recommend this game to most people, especially to those who expect a Life Is Strange-like experience from Dontnod. That being said, if a stale combat experience wouldn’t distract you from a strong narrative or if you are especially fascinated by the vampire aesthetic and its attached dilemmas, Vampyr might just be worth sinking your teeth into on Nintendo Switch.
