Framerate is surprisingly relatively smooth and consistent compared to the console releases. The only complaints I have are the inability to reverse the A/B button (you were able to do this in (S)Witcher 3) and the game will pause sometimes in the middle of gameplay to load for a couple seconds with a brief loading screen. This was at seemingly random times and a bit annoying. Not an issue for me, but some people might find it hard to read the text on handheld, especially switch lite. There's an option to increase subtitle font size but no menu/notes/books/HUD etc.. Hopefully these things can be patched if enough people have issues with them. Finally, at release this game is kind of expensive ($50 at release) since it has been out on other systems for a year now ($14 on sale on PS store). But that's just nintendo tax and also probably the cost of porting it. Luckily switch games have a solid resale value and don't depreciate a lot. Expand

I went through this game twice upon its initial release on pc and absolutely loved it ! Saber interactive have worked miracles porting this to the switch , there are of course visual cut backs but the game retains its visual identity and is an absolute gem .

Great atmosphere, solid characters, and the level at which you can upgrade your character is deep but not daunting... That being said the game can be a real slog! The combat is fun but the boss fights are so hard you'll begin the hate the game. Plus if you use an item and then die that item will not reginerate so you better pray you don't die in a boss fight or youl find yourself slogging through the city for 20 minutes trying to get items back for the boss fight... Hard to recommend based on how bored and frustrated I got but if you're a fan of this style of game it has enough going for it that you should try it out. Expand

Poor framerate and controller lag still haunt this game since release. It doesn’t bode well that it’s version 0.4 and we haven’t gotten one update since that day one patch. Game seems like it could be fun but I highly recommend pc, ps4, or Xbox for a more fluid experience. Seems this was a quick release for cash and zero support. It is not getting any better I’m sure.

Fix the combat and you've got a very good game here. Otherwise, Vampyr is a tedious slog through some amazing environments, coupled with poorly realized button-mashing and wayfinding that borders on cruelty. The Switch version holds up well, but the source material wasn't strong enough to warrant a port in the first place.

Vampyr is an ambitious attempt at boring the player into submission.

It's worth purchasing in the bargain bin.

Vampyr is a hard game to criticise. It is ambitious and inventive. It oozes charm and builds a fascinating world. However, it is also very flawed. The rpg elements are decent, but nowhere near as good as the best RPGs. The combat is souls-like, but nowhere near as good as Souls. It's hard to pinpoint a failing in vampyr but very easy to feel underwhelmed and under satisfied.

I really wanted to enjoy this game but far too often it is impossible to do so. I think it is worth giving it a go, bit I don't think it will be remembered fondly.

The port is very shaky... in the five hours I’ve played so far, it Has crashed multiple times, loads at inopportune moments, and looks a bit fuzzy. But it’s still the whole game, and the story and dialogue is great. Recommended if you play on easy and just enjoy it as more of a visual novel.

The combat does get a little boring after a while but the story, world and the character interactions kept me intrigued. Also playing it during a pandemic.

Aun así creo que es un buen juego para invertir un tiempo y jugarlo.
Espero que estos estudios puedan tener mayor oportunidad en desarrollar juegos nuevos.

This is quite a great game and a great port.
We get some distracting annoying loading screens, but this is a great game to be played on portable mode where I play the most.
Is such a great way to play this titles.

I really enjoyed the game play and the story, is easy to understand. You can choose how to spend your experience points: learn new attacks or defensive moves; improve the ones that you already learned or increase your life and resistance points. On the down side, the graphics are just OK, nothing incredible and the battles aren't very difficult to win, so it's not a very complicated game.

I am reallly into this game i dont want to beat it. i know that sounds crazy but its just a fun well done game. The story is well done along with the combat and controls. Took a few min to get used to with the RPG elements, but once i picked it up it was alot of fun from there. Looks great and has a great errie feel to it.

"Vampyr has a fantastic narrative filled with layered NPCs that are a joy to interact with, interesting quests, meaningful choices, and stellar voice acting. However, it is let down by a myriad of technical issues and dire combat. For anyone out there looking for an RPG focused on Vampires, I would highly recommend this game – but play it on Story Mode difficulty so you don’t have to worry"Vampyr has a fantastic narrative filled with layered NPCs that are a joy to interact with, interesting quests, meaningful choices, and stellar voice acting. this game is on the fence for me. it does have a great story, but the graphics on the switch port is just ps1 quality. the graphics ruins the fun the game has in the story as everyone looks like a boiled potato. i expected more from the port as it was done by the same people who did the witcher 3 port for switch, and the graphics looked amazing. Buy it for the story, and nothing else

Horrible port for Nintendo Switch. Bad graphics, bad textures, frame drops, one of the worst nintendo switch ports.

If you’re looking for a game on the go that’ll last you a few dozen hours (if you’re the completionist type), Vampyr delivers that. But that also means spending a few dozen hours with a game that’s not particularly interesting, and I don’t know why you’d want to bother with that.

The port appears to be faithful to the original 2018 game, so if you enjoyed your time with that, London is yours to explore on the go. But I would be hesitant to recommend this game to most people, especially to those who expect a Life Is Strange-like experience from Dontnod. That being said, if a stale combat experience wouldn’t distract you from a strong narrative or if you are especially fascinated by the vampire aesthetic and its attached dilemmas, Vampyr might just be worth sinking your teeth into on Nintendo Switch.
