Titan Quest

Titan Quest appears on Nintendo Switch as a classic but renewed game with high customization options for the character, an online game that can express the ultimate experience and an epic soundtrack. Even with the current flaws it presents, it does not prevent you from progressing and enjoying the game.

An unforgettable memory that, although it may feel outdated since its original release, it is worth being replayed and discovered.

Titan Quest falls short when it comes to some technical aspects. Even so, it still manages to deliver a very engaging experience where you won't notice the time pass while you hack n' slash your way through enemies searching for better loot.

When everything's working smoothly, Titan Quest is a very enjoyable game. It doesn't push any boundaries (it's more than a decade old now, after all), but it runs the classic Diablo formula well, with plenty of depth for character builds and a stunning world to explore.

Essentially this is a bare-bones port of a decent hack ‘n’ slash action-RPG.

Although not as old as hoped for in the mechanics and with some stumbling in the technical aspects, Titan Quest is a solid and addictive game.

That core loop of killing satyrs in four hits before finding rare loot that destroys them in one is as compelling as it ever was. Disappointing visual glitches and the occasional crash give the impression that everything is held together with nothing more than sticky tape and a prayer, but it was never enough to stop us playing. Handheld mode is a massive boon for any RPG and, as long as you’re not expecting miracles, this Switch port delivers the core experience well enough to warrant investigation.

In terms of content this is the Titan Quest you love. But technical or interface problems in handheld and even more so in docked mode, hold this action rpg classic back.

There’s fun to be had from the mechanics of a Diablo game set in a Greek mythology universe with its gods and monsters rather than exploring the depths of hell. It’s clear though that its inspiration is also where its limitations lie, and they painted over cracks in the foundation that are showing through. And like Clash of the Titans, Titan Quest has a story, setting, and characters that end up being completely forgettable. That said, it fills a gap in the genre offerings on Switch, and if you’re looking for something to scratch that itch until something more recent gets announced, it’ll fit the bill.

Titan Quest does not represent the pinnacle of action RPG and this remastered version for the Nintendo Switch shows its twelve years of age, even if its gameplay remains fairly interesting. While sometimes its content in terms of objects and weapons feels too much, its local and online multiplayer modes are an added value. On the downside, the game feels too repetitive and its outdated visual component becomes a handicap.

This new version of Titan Quest shows so many failures and problems about graphic and technique, maybe due to the low quality of the whole work done too fast and with less content than the previous editions, alas.

Titan Quest for Nintendo Switch is just as insufficient as the other versions. Despite its virtues, this jewel of 2006 hasn't stood the test of time well. It's only a good option for those who didn't play it in the past.

The game is put together competently, but missteps and minor issues are repeatedly encountered to the point where they grow large in scale. A good concept and the intent to make a strong game is there, and by trying to reap a niche market, the developers clearly have the passion to make a great game. However, there aren’t enough hooks to keep you strongly invested in Titan Quest.
