DO NOT BUY THIS. The game is barely 5 hours long, it has HORRIBLE framerate issues, it goes from 60fps to 30fps constantly, I'm utterly shocked that Nintendo would ship a broken game that costs $60 USD. Again, if you want to experience the original, play it on an emulator for free. Between this and the awful Pokemon game (thankfully I didn't buy it) I'm starting to lose respect for Nintendo.

The last point is the price. €60 is too much to ask for a relatively short game that's a remake from a game that's 30 years old.

For me this game is a hugely missed opportunity to breathe new life in a fantastic classic. A shame.

The frame-rate issues really keep this from being an enjoyable experience. It's astounding, and an indictment of modern games journalism, that this is getting such positive reviews. I could see giving the technical issues a pass if this were a $20 game, but at $60, it's impossible to recommend this remake to anyone, even the most die-hard Zelda fan.

Literally 3 seconds into the game and I have already experienced FPS stutter (or whatever it technically is called)... Every half a minute, the game stutters. It is quite dizzying, and is terrible for me trying to unwind after a long day. How on earth this game get past quality assurance, I have no idea. Such a mess, and yet the ask price is $60. Absurd. Such a shame, because the game is so beautiful. Yes, $60 is still expensive even if the stutter is fixed, but at least then it would be an overpriced game, and not both irritating and expensive..

I normally read reviews moaning about frame rates and think stop being pathetic and just play the game but in this though it is ridiculous, it is like the screen has HD rumble sometimes. It is the worst I have seen on Switch and much worse than Stardew Valley 2 player, which I thought wasn't possible. Why does the Switch struggle so much with birds eye view games but then I can play much more detailed 3D games that don't have the issue.

The graphics were an outright bad choice because between the cheesyfied music and matching graphics, it completely loses all that Zelda vibe and emotion. It's like a kiddy fest. Young kids at that.

To be honest, I am considering selling this and just playing the old one that I sideliaded on my SNES mini. I never played it before but I'm guessing it will be better.

Looks like we might have to wait for Skyward Sword to actually get a decent Zelda on Switch.

I gave one point because there were a couple of fun bits in the dungeon. If I finish the game I will adjust my score accordingly but at the moment I am wanting to trade in.

It’s trash, total cash grab by Nintendo, runs horribly with terrible frame drops and they have the nerve to sell a 6 hour half assed game boy port for $60. I gave it a 1 because they triggered my nostalgia enough to trick me into buying it but I would return it if I could.

The frame rate drops are totally unacceptable and are an absolute detraction to anyone playing the game: It truly ruins the enjoyment of the game. - Get ready to experience frequent, unjustified frame drops. It is so bad that at times it ruins the immersion. if Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze runs at a steady 1080p/60fps there is no reason whatsoever for this game to drop from 60fps to below 30fps at every scenery load.
    - The Depth of Field effect is just horrible. There is simply not enough perspective in the game to justify any DOF, and the emulated blurred bars look hideous.
    - 720p? Seriously?

Note: my score is a 0 not because the game sucks, but because I don't feel to give any merit to the dev team.
They had a complete masterpiece in their hands: storyline, dungeons, maps, everything was made for them 25 years ago.
All they had to do is make it look great (which they did, to a level) and smooth (where they failed miserably).

They should have gone the route of Triforce of the God's 2 and just made it a sequel (minus the blur).

In the same vein as Samus Returns or Link Between Worlds, I think this game is properly priced at $40 around launch. But to put this at the same value as Breath of the Wild or Super Mario Odyssey just makes it feel like there's a disparity in content. And that shouldn't be the focus because the game is great in its own right, but price by comparison makes it feel lacking. The moment this game is permanently reduced in price I will properly amend this score, but as it is now, it needs to be known that this is a great game boy remaster that is unfortunately disproportionately priced. I don't understand what all the mostly very positive reviews are about. The game is nicely reworked and looks cute.
However, the game mechanics are no longer up to date and somehow the game doesn't captivate me. The blur effect (blurring at the edges) is annoying most of the time, there is no option to turn this off.
I also don't understand why many of the Switch's features aren't used.

I also don't understand why many of the Switch's features aren't used. You can only place the additional items like bombs or grappling hooks on X and Y. Why aren't the shoulder buttons, which are double-used with protection and race, used for this? Likewise, the directional pad on the left remains completely unused.
I found the graphics very cute, but got on my nerves somehow after an hour. I don't necessarily want to criticize that now, it's a matter of taste.

Honestly, the game did not age well at all. Too much backtracking, bland combat, uninspiring puzzles (I mean, how many times did it boil down to "kill everything in this room?) - the game is essentially one big fetch quest. If you look at it this way, all Zelda games are fetch quest - but the 3rd person titles are much more complex in their systems and you get to explore cool, atmospheric places.
