This is not trying to counter balance anything. 0/10 is my honest score. I love Nintendo and Zelda. Been playing both since 1986. If you like running around a vast empty space, very slowly, collecting items and doing some beyond basic, boring    **** in the Wild.

This is not trying to counter balance anything. 0/10 is my honest score. I love Nintendo and Zelda. Been playing both since 1986. If you like running around a vast empty space, very slowly, collecting items and doing some beyond basic, boring puzzles with poor graphics and worse music then this is the game for you, that is practically all you do, run around an empty space. If you want the great graphics, music, gameplay, atmosphere, emotion, puzzles, bosses and dungeons synonymous with Zelda then save your money.

    This isn't Zelda branching out and trying new ideas, it is just destroying what was an exceptional gaming franchise. The new ideas were all s**t. ALL. It literally brought nothing good and turned something incredibly engaging and fun that I would skip meals to carry on playing, to something I could have switched off at any time, never played again in my life and not be remotely bothered if I never saw anything BotW related again ever.

    Had this been a bit of a poor game I didn't get much enjoyment out of I would have given a 3/10 but this is a poor game I was annoyed at wasting 6 hours of my life on. Virtually nothing happened other than a few fetch quests and a very annoying stamina gauge. The Skyward Sword stamina got on my nerves sometimes but this was a whole other level of unneccessary annoyance.

    The whole 6 hours I persevered with it was a frustration, the climbing, the empty world that everyone raves on about being so great to explore, the temporary weapons, the lack of music, the fetch quests, the worst voice acting imaginable, the terrible dungeons (if you can call them that). Just utter rubbish. If it wasn't Zelda no-one would have given it a 10, no one would have bought it and certainly not for £50. It is simply no fun to play. Worst Zelda I've played. Do yourself a favour and get a WiiU that you can play about 14 Zelda games on, including all of the best ones made and you can even play this junk on it too should you choose. Yes the loading times and animations on the WiiU will be just as bad as the Switch, so don't worry you'll still get time to make a brew between scenes. If you want to get a Switch for Zelda BotW don't bother. Get the WiiU and proper Zelda's. Switch is great but don't buy it if just for BotW.

    Whilst on the topic of WiiU, Xenoblade Chronicles X on WiiU destroys BotW on anything. The world is so much better designed. If you are going to enjoy running round an open world doing quests then the Xenoblade X world is leagues ahead of this. It is huge and beautiful and alive and has good music too.    … Expand

    The game copied several mechanics from other games like Ark Online, among others, but for an outdated platform that is the Switch, this can be innovative.

    I'm amazed how Nintendo manages to sell the same game for 30 years with the same story (Spoiler: no story) every time. Who knows, maybe next time they'll be able to innovate and make Link not lose his memory again.    … Expand

    I like the combat enough, some great music tracks here and there, and the overall atmosphere itself is definitely where the game shines. The exploration is fun but the world feels pretty empty at times, as well as the Switch's limited graphics can make things look a little lacklustre. The story felt pretty barebones, none of the characters were particularly interesting.     Not my type of game. The building feels very gimmicky. Too cartoonish which is a missed opportunity with today's graphic potential.
    Feels very much like Genshin Impact, though does almost every aspect poorly.

    A poor excuse for a Zelda game. No depth, lackluster characters, and not memorable overall. This and Totk are the Disney star wars movies of Zelda games.

    Esse jogo é incrível, a exploração nele é muito satisfatória, casa cantinho vc pode achar algo.
    Sementes escondidas, armas ponto pra evoluir personagem.
    Modo foto incrível, da vontade de sair tirando foto de tudo.
    Ele pode até não ser o jogo mais bonito de todo século, mas é um dos mais divertidos.
    Mas sem ptbr.

    Im returning my switch bc of this garbage of a game. It looks and feels like a hobbyist made it and someone slapped a zelda logo on top. Replace the logo and the chars with no names and you get what this game actually is. A wasteland made of basically nothing

    This game is simply dreadful and encompasses all the things I hate about open world games, while adding a few other game mechanics that only make the game worse. The game started out okay but once I got out of the tutorial area things went downhill quickly. The game started out okay but once I got out of the tutorial area things went downhill quickly. Any attempts to further progress the story was met with a swift end by any number of enemies that will one shot you and you will randomly encounter these enemies just trying to get from point A to point B. Getting more hearts and stamina in this game is a chore. You have to complete a trial which you have to find first just out in the wild with no real easy way to locate them. Then you have to complete 4 of them to get 1 more heart or a minimal increase to links stamina wheel. I lost my patience doing these trials really quickly. Link needs stamina to pretty much do anything running, swimming and climbing all consume stamina and Link has so very little of it that trying to get anywhere takes so long that I would just rather turn the game off. There is cooking in this game because of course. Cooking is also an activity that takes forever. You first have to find a cooking pot and ingredients again randomly out in the wild. You then have to navigate some menus before adding ingredients one at a time to links hands before tossing the ingredients in the cooking pot which the ingredients will dance around for a bit before you get the meal you cooked. The meal you cook typically gives you health or stamina and thats pretty much it. It all just wastes your time everything in this game is just a waste of your time. There is a weapon durability system that is awful makes me not even really want to fight anything. The only thing enemies drop are monster parts that can be used in cooking to make elixirs that give you buffs. No recovery hearts. No rupees. No anything that I play The Legend of Zelda games for. There are certain areas that you cant go to without appropriate clothing or food buffs because the areas are to hot or to cold. Just a very unfun game. I tried doing some sidequests but the only rewards I got were weapons and shields. Since these shatter like glass anytime I try to use them I just didnt bother anymore. Returned the game for a refund after playing for roughly 8 hours and the only reason I'm not giving the game a 0/10 is because the game works and the graphics are actually pretty nice. Everything else about Breath of the Wild is terrible.    … Expand

    I promise I’ve tried and tried because of the great reviews. But not my kind of game. I don’t find it engaging or interesting. The quests and temples were tedious. I wish I could enjoy it as much as most people.

    Really overrated to be honest didn't deserve the GOTY
    2017 was actually a pretty mediocre year for gaming with just a few exceptions and Zelda just wasn't good enough for me and I'm honestly surprised from how much praise it gets and people just don't accept some of it's flaws

    A new evolving formula for the Legend of Zelda franchise! Does it succeed?

    Pros:
    + Visually beautiful.
    + Lots of stuff to do.
    + Combat while simple has its own mechanics.
    + Story seems interesting.

    Cons:
    - The bosses were a letdown.
    - The side quests are not that interesting.
    - Weapon durability system, not a fan of it.

You get most of the items to start and opening chest doesn't feel special anymore. The open world is a blank canvas with not much really to do except collect seeds and basic dialogue between npcs. They tried copying games like the elder scrolls and allComing from someone who's favorite zelda games are OoT, Majora's Mask, and Twilight Princess this game is absolutely a mockery of them.     Like, it's open world is pretty empty and boring to explore, there's a lot of grind (shrines, seeds), combat is meh, just 1 button attack spam, parry & dodge, not to mention constantly breaking weapons & shields, the same recycled enemies everywhere, boring story with cheap voiceovers and undeveloped characters, music is a let down    I don't get the hype this game is still getting.

    One of the most disappointing games of all times for me. I can't understand how people love it so much. Graphics are terrible, gameplay is boring and combat is soulsborne. You die all the time by stupid enemies you should be able to face as part of the story, just because you didn't parry exactly on time or wasn't using the correct potion. It is almost a sin to dislike this game amongst the fanboys, but really one of the worst games I've ever played. And I gave it a second chance.… Expand

    This is not really Zelda.

    Extensive and lifeless map, leaving the game proposal that is good in a boring and monotonous experience after a few hours of play. Meaningless missions that add absolutely nothing. Weak rewards that don't encourage the player to chase missions. No subtitles in other languages, mainly Portuguese (mainly for the price charged in Brazil).

    Where it takes mechanics from others in the industry, it improves upon them; where it introduces new ones, you slap your forehead in amazement that it hasn’t been done before. Breath of the Wild is development done right, and damn near the best game you’ll play all year.
