This was my first ever Zelda game and also my first Switch game. After playing over 120hours on Zelda it's proven to be one of the most enjoyable games I've ever played. The graphics, features, and story are just remarkable!

If you really like doing Shrines one after another (which felt repetitive) then go for it, ‘cuz they’re the best ones you’ll ever find in this game. If you really wanted some extra story, some new adventurous quest around the field of Hyrule to uncover some mysterious background then I suggest you to stay away from this downloadable content.

Overhyped, mediocre DLC that shouldn't exist. There were only three good things about the DLC. I hope Aonuma learns not to lie to the Zelda fans ever again.

Overall, The Champions' Ballad was a really disappointing DLC in some factors but delivered in others and shall warrant a 5/10 from me. Hopefully Odyssey gets better DLC if it ever gets some.

Disappointing and uninspired are two adjectives I would use to describe this DLC. Adding more shrines and using a 1-hit kill mechanic for the start of the DLC is terrible. This is hardly a plot driven “Story DLC” that Nintendo was billing it as. If you absolutely loved the shrines in BotW then this is for you. If you were hoping for something different, stay away.

There are a few universally held beliefs in gaming. One of them being; Motion Controls suck. At their best they are functional and at their worst they make the game near unplayable. For Champions Ballad, they tend to skew towards the later, especially in handheld mode. The motion control shrines in the base game were the biggest blight of the overall experience, but for some reason they force motion controls left and right in this DLC.

    Challenges VS New Content
The new dungeon in the game is great. Full of fun new puzzles that culminate in a fun boss fight. Everything else feels like challenges created using existing assets and mechanics. Rehashing previous fights, no new weapons (aside from one you don't get to keep), and playing a cartography version of "Where's Waldo" round out most of the time you'll spend most of your time on during this DLC.

If you have already played through the main game and completed all of the shrines this DLC is not going to supply you with dozens of hours of content. It is a nice supplementary piece for people who have yet to play through the game. It's worth the price but it's not exactly that the truck load of content a lot of us hoping for. If you have already completed the main bulk of the game, then this is only going to take you about 4 to 5 hours to chew through all of the content available in this package. Here is hoping there is a second wave of DLC that will supply us with new lands to explore and new weapons, bows, armor, and enemies. But overall this feels like the rehashing of a lot of things that are already in the game that have been slightly rearranged to make a new challenge.

This DLC offers what is easily the best dungeon in the game and some pretty fun trials to get there. It proves to be more satisfying than the first DLC, but I was left wanting more - especially since I've already beaten the game many times at this rate. The journey is greater than the reward - the prize basically being a cool new gadget and then being told that you're ready to finally face Ganon... which most of us have probably done dozens of times at this rate. I mean, being able to do it with the Master Cycle is pretty cool, but it doesn't add much.

If anything, THE CHAMPIONS' BALLAD makes an already complete game even completer. It's a cherry on top that doesn't add much to the story except more context. Maybe another smaller, yet still massive world was too much to hope for - but that is kind of what I hoped for. The dungeon is the biggest next to Hyrule Castle, which is nice, and the puzzles are cool. Even the new trials are some of the best in the game. The new boss, while fun and awesome, is also pretty easy.

Together, the two DLCs are definitely worth the $20. As a matter of fact, if you haven't played the game yet, I'd recommend buying both DLCs and experiencing them alongside the full game for a more complete experience. Otherwise, you may feel like you're re-treading old territory.

While the Champions Ballad does provide a meaningful reason to revisit the game, it does seem to just be more of the same rather than a meaningful expansion. The developers were keen in implementing various challenge modes rather than expanding on the lore/plot of the game. The DLC starts with you revisiting the Great Plateau. where you are presented with a challenge mode in which you discover 4 new shrines. These shrines are excellent and put the shrines in the base game to shame. After completing these 4 shrines, you're tasked with travelling to the 4 main regions of the game. There you are presented with quest challenges that test your knowledge of the region's topography. This fits the underlying conventions of the base game. Rather than being given quest markers, the gamer is challenged to progress through exploration. I actually found these challenges rewarding but those of you referencing walkthroughs/guides will likely find it boring. Each region has 3 shrines, bringing the total to 16 in the expansion. The best part of the Champions Ballad is what happens next. You start a 5th Divine Beast. This was probably the second most creative Beast (Vah Naboris being first). The boss fight at the end of the Divine Beast is easily the best in the game. You're also rewarded with a cool new device that will change the way you explore the game. Overall, I'd say that the Master Trials and Champions Ballad are worth $20. Overall though, this expansion falls short of striking the same magic that the base game delivered. I enjoyed the two expansions but felt that BOTW deserved better. So much unexplained lore, ruins, etc. I really hope that the Zelda team rethinks their approach on DLC and implements more meaningful expansions in future Zelda games.

While I expected post- ganon story, what we got is still amazing. The new shrines are challenging and fun, and I had a lot of fun figuring out where they were and doing the challenges to unlock them. Then final dungeon is great and the boss is simply amazing and took me by surprise! And it is very satisfying to be able to ride the Master Cycle Zero through the world of hyrule, however, there isn't really much to do on it if you've already completed the game like me. The memories it unlocks are easily the best in the game, especially the last one. They add a great sense of depth and emotion to each individual champion. The final cut-scene nearly made me cry. Just the way in which it tops of such a brilliant game is beautiful. It makes you feel proud, happy, and sad all at the same time. Gameplay-wise, it does not disappoint. The shrines are some of the best in the whole game, and the other challenges are quite difficult, which is very welcome, since at this point in the game, not much presents a substantial challenge. The final dungeon is not very long, but fun and challenging. And the boss is likely my favorite in the whole game. The costumes are more fun fan-service. Anyone who is familiar with the rest of the Zelda series will appreciate it. Sure, they don't offer much defense, but I really only dress for style anyway. My personal favorite is the phantom Ganon outfit. The other awesome thing about the review is the reward. And boy, is it a reward. There is so much you must go through to get it, it is justified that it is just an absolutely insane reward. It's not something lame or something that makes everything easy or boring. If you're looking into the expansion pass at all you probably know what it is, not even the store page keeps it a secret, since it's so cool. But it really is nice if you don't know what it is until you get it, so I won't spoil what exactly it is. But trust me, it is so fun, it will make you want to play around with it for hours and hours, even if there's not much left in the world you haven't done, you'll have a blast.

Sure, this is not a massive expansion. Don't confuse this with big expensive expansions like The Witcher III's "Blood and Wine" or Destiny's "The Taken King", which are so big, they almost feel like sequels. The Champion's Ballad (and the expansion pass overall) is a nice afterthought that tops off one of the greatest games ever made. For the amount of money you pay for it, it will not disappoint.

This review is for both DLC as you cannot purchase only one of them.

DLC Pack 1 somehow not worth it as you only get 1 extra save slot but you need to restart the game and with higher difficulty. The only worth content is the trials of master sword and travel medallion. DLC Pack 2 is filled with more content where you can upgrade all champion's power where I think it's way too simple

DLC Pack 2 is filled with more content where you can upgrade all champion's power where I think it's way too simple for an upgrade as you only decrease the recharge time. On top of that, you can enter some kind of "Divine Beast" to get a motorcycle, huh. I prefer my horse as you will also get ancient gear for your horse so you can call your horse wherever you are and my horse doesn't need a fuel to run.

You notice I rate it 6 and its majorly due to the outfits/ armors you get on both DLC which looks cool and awesome but it sucks because you cannot upgrade it, like what the flark? There's no point in choosing the DLC armor (besides korok mask) if you cannot upgrade it, it turns out it just for look. Shame Nintendo.

With this I can conclude that Zelda BOTW is very unrewarding and unfair (not to compare with other open world game). The game can reward you more but they decide not to, and I think with the DLC they will reward you properly but turns out its a bummer. Well, at least you get a lot of hours more in the game with the DLC as I've played it for around 10-15 hours more with it.

This is my favourite DLC of the two by MILES! Yes, the Trial of the Sword is cool, and you can get a double attack Master Sword with stupidly high durability forever, but this one has a MOTORBIKE! A MOTORBIKE!!!!! After getting the motorbike, I never had to walk anywhere ever again! It's got drift physics and it can jump and you can rev it up and... it's perfect. It's a very niche reward for doing all the work you have to do. Man, I love the one-hit obliterator challenge as well. Very fun beginning to the list of enjoyable quests you have to do afterwards. You also get a few exclusive memories which I think give the characters some more personality than in the ones in the base game. It was an incredible addon! 10/10, very much recommend. Expand

The second DLC provides more things to play and experience than the last one, with new combat, new puzzles, new areas to explore, and new story to dig.
