If you can get The Game of Life 2 on sale, it may just be worth it. Again, your enjoyment of it will likely be proportional to how many people you have to play the game with, but as board game ports go, this one isn’t too bad.

Had The Game of Life 2 been sub-£20, it’d be easier to recommend. But its asking price of £30 feels far too steep for what’s included here. One game will last only around 30 minutes, and since you’ll see the same random opportunities and job titles come up again and again, you’re probably not likely to want to keep playing. Unless you’re a die-hard fan of the board game, wait until it’s on sale. It’s enjoyable in small doses, but not at RRP.

I find the original board game a bit shallow and this video game version is no different, but it’s a decent enough game to play with younger kids.

Ultimately The Game of Life 2 isn’t a bad game – and should appeal to families looking for the occasional brief piece of entertainment – but doesn’t offer a slick enough package to justify its price-tag.

Even more than Monopoly, The Game of Life is a board game from a bygone era. Once upon a time, the nice, meandering journey through suburban life and expectations thereof that the game depicted was considered a representation of a happy, wholesome life experience, but in 2021 lionising that seems incredibly passe. Sticking a "2" next to the title while not doing much to address this dissonance doesn't paper over the fact that very few people actually want to play The Game of Life these days.

It's fun for a game or two, but when you realise how much less The Game of Life 2 costs on mobile you'll want to spin again.

It feels like The Game of Life 2 is a missed opportunity. Some nice touches and features are included to modernize the gameplay and add some extra depth to a very familiar game, but the overall package is let down by the fact that there’s just not enough variety when it comes to The Game of Life 2 boards, a criticism that has even been thrown at games like Super Mario Party. But this game doesn’t have the excellent mini-games or unpredictability of the latter series to make amends, leaving it at the bottom of the pile when it comes to deciding which party game to break out at the next social gathering.

Wish they would have put a little bit more variety to the maps so it was actually a different course on a different map rather than the same one each time. Loved playing it with my siblings, something happened though so now there is no more private games (we all are adults and live in different states or places) lately the private games have been letting in random people and says the code is invalid when we send someone the code/game invite to them which is some straight up **** It was a rather “cheap” game 20 for the original map then 30 for the whole thing with the multiple maps. Just wish they could fix the bugs in it. Also doesn’t help that people are now getting invalid password reset requests on their switch after playing said game. Really took a great game and some family game night and throw it into the trash. I recommend only playing the game by yourself now. Expand
