Skyrim’s innovative open-world RPG boasts incredible worldbuilding, music, graphics, and gameplay that was ahead of its time. It still holds up today, despite a buggy experience.

Honestly, if you're a fan of Skyrim, we reckon this is an upgrade that's worth grabbing and it's also worth pointing out that, although the full version is expensive, you can frequently catch the standard version of Skyrim on a deep discount during eShop sales and then upgrade that way. If you've never played the game before — and we 100% refuse to believe there's anyone who hasn't — this really is the best, most feature-rich, content-packed version of an RPG that, no matter how much we make fun of it, always completely sucks us right back into its world every single time we boot it up.

    Breathtaking Open World:
Skyrim's open world is a marvel in itself. The province of Skyrim is beautifully rendered, with its snow-covered mountains, dense forests, and sprawling cities. Each location is unique, filled with rich detail and hidden secrets waiting to be discovered. From the frozen peaks of High Hrothgar to the ancient ruins of Dwemer, the world of Skyrim feels alive and immersive.

    Engaging Storyline:
At the heart of Skyrim lies an epic and engrossing storyline. As the Dragonborn, a prophesized hero with the power to slay dragons, you embark on a quest to save the land from Alduin, the World-Eater. Along the way, you encounter diverse characters, factions with their own agendas, and moral choices that shape the outcome of your adventure. The narrative is filled with memorable moments and surprising twists, keeping players engaged throughout.

    Deep Character Progression:
Skyrim offers a robust character progression system that allows players to customize their playstyle. With a wide range of races, classes, and skills to choose from, players can create unique characters suited to their preferred gameplay style. Whether you prefer wielding a massive battleaxe, casting devastating spells, or sneaking through shadows as an expert thief, Skyrim caters to various playstyles, ensuring endless replayability.

    Immersive Gameplay:
Combat in Skyrim is both satisfying and strategic. Engaging in battles with dragons, bandits, or mythical creatures feels intense and rewarding. The addition of shouts, powerful abilities granted by the Dragonborn's blood, adds an extra layer of tactical depth. Moreover, the inclusion of a dynamic and immersive world means that players can engage in activities beyond the main questline, such as crafting, trading, and joining various guilds.

    Enthralling Soundtrack:
Jeremy Soule's enchanting musical score further elevates the Skyrim experience. From the sweeping orchestral melodies that accompany epic battles to the serene tunes that greet you while exploring the wilderness, the soundtrack perfectly captures the atmosphere of the game. The iconic "Dragonborn" theme song is instantly recognizable and evokes a sense of adventure and heroism.

They keep releasing the same buggy mess again and again. I don't understand this. I gave them another chance after my main save game had a whole area that was broken and crashed the game when I got anywhere near it. I gave them another chance, started a new game, it was going fine, then I bought the anniversary edition thinking it may solve some bugs too. Eventually the game just crashed again in another area, this near the throat of the world so my main questline is blocked. It's my fault for giving them another chance. And there is no way to send them your savegames, so they will never fix these bugs. Expand
