Very nice aesthetic graphics and music

It is hard to guess the function of the items in the game, and the physics, there is no explanation for how the items work (curtain, hole, etc)

The MC Escher-esque artwork in The Bridge is very pretty, and the idea of setting a puzzle game inside his drawings is awesome, so it's a shame that playing The Bridge can be so soporific and unrewarding. The game suffers from absurdly long loading screens, the protagonist ambles everywhere at an infuriatingly leisurely pace, and the screen rotation mechanic is incredibly slow. There is a time-reversal mechanic that you use to fix death like in Braid, but it also feels slow.

Puzzles start out promising, but get confusing once the game starts introducing complicated new mechanics without sufficiently explaining them (e.g. getting behind a curtain allows you to alter the direction of gravity for certain objects in the level or... something?). Puzzles are made very hard and frustrating by the slowness of everything. There is possibly some sort of story going on, but it's not clear what it is. I gave up on what I think was the last level, because I couldn't figure out what I was supposed to do, and it was taking forever to try out new solutions. I've gone back and tried again once or twice since then, but it's just too frustrating and I have no investment in the story.

The Bridge feels right on the Switch hardware, specifically in handheld mode. The atmospheric music, mind-boggling physics mechanics and abstract visual style all amalgamate together to produce one of the best Puzzle games currently available on the platform. With the games' improbable extra challenges and post-game levels, It's sure to keep you going back for quite some time. Providing you don't go insane first.

The Bridge is a solid puzzle game that encourages you to look at the world from a new perspective. Though the game was easily completed in a couple of sittings, the difficulty increase and length felt right. A sequel would be welcome.

If you’re looking for a thought provoking experience, whether it’s to enjoy the artistic level design or to deduce the lore that's presented in the story, then you will enjoy The Bridge. It will take a couple of hours to complete the initial 24 puzzles of the main story and, not surprisingly, the final 24 puzzles are a more challenging mirror copy with an alternate ending. My brain got a workout plotting courses on 2-dimensional paths that don’t exist in the 3-dimensional world but the reality warping experience was worth it.
