    I have no idea why so many people love this game. It’s so easy I get a moon and wonder what the point of getting it was. I suck at gaming by the way but I played all the old Mario’s. They were a challenge and I was last to finish them out of my friends. I had to ask them how to get to the secret worlds I could never find out. If you like when your platformer games basically play themselves, then this is the game for you. I could beat this in my sleep. Which is useful because with how piss easy this game is, it might end up putting me to sleep. *Yawn*

    The visuals are good, not great. The mechanics haven't changed from Mario 64 which is why it didn't receive a 0 from me. This game is great for children but look elsewhere for any form of a challenge that doesn't involve mindlessly collecting oddly shaped purple coins or moons. Unfortunately, this is simply a paint-by-numbers, unimpressive participation trophy.

I never cared about any of the "story" arcs of the characters in the various worlds, and the "story" overall didn't keep my interest because every world was the same - get moons and beat a boss you don't care about. This game feels like a bunch of little games jammed into one, with highly inconsistent and unsatisfying puzzles. There are some really cool new features and mechanics, but don't we all expect at least that from a triple-A title? The game tries to connect everything together via the main story line, but to me, everything feels so disconnected and it couldn't hold my interest. Expand

    There isn't much fun in walking around the exact same area for hours looking for some moons. The boss fights are just typical boss fights. If you aren't a child or buying this for your child, stay away. Get Super Mario Maker 2.

    Definitely NOT the best Mario game out there. The worlds seemed relatively small and much of the game was boring, a lot of redundant work, and not enjoyable. However… it is the main Mario entry on the Switch. Although it is not enjoyable, I would still recommend this game as there is still some worth to the experience. Just do not expect it to be nearly as enjoyable as Galaxy.

    that game feels like a total knock off of Sonic adventures 1 and 2 cause it is and some of the gameplay feels like it ripped off Sonic adventure as well. I’m surprised that those so called critics have not noticed about it. And a living hat, I’ve never seen anything so dumb in a video game. that game deserves a lower ranking than what it’s received.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is a kids game. I don't say that because it's cartoonish or anything. It rewards you for literally everything you do. I would have accepted the game if the main quest was easy if the post game was easy, but no. The post game is easier than the main quest. That has to be some kind of joke. Not even the final level was that hard. There were only a few times I genuinely had fun which were the 8-bit gravity shrine in the Mushroom Kingdom and when you get to be Bowser. Other than those, the game is just constant rewards. If you're a kid and you have never played a Mario, this game was designed for you, but if you're a hardcore Mario fan like me, this game wasn't made for you. Expand

    As a long time Mario fan I found this game to be extremely disappointing.
    I will not go into details, pretty much 60% of the negative reviews pointed out the flaws of that game and explained in details the problems.
    The problems of that game being that it is: -Easy, but I mean TOO EASY, even a 3 years old would be able to complete it. Mario Galaxy was aimed at a young audience, but

    The problems of that game being that it is:
    -Easy, but I mean TOO EASY, even a 3 years old would be able to complete it. Mario Galaxy was aimed at a young audience, but atleast it was a bit challenging, I don't say no to such easy difficulty, but give us the possibility to choose for a higher difficulty for the a little more "extreme" players;
    -Bland and empty, the level design is so awful and honestly, it hurts me to say that but even another mediocre Sonic game known as Sonic Forces had a better level design. Well, the bad level design is especially in the overworld, when you enter one special stage it gets a little better, but that's not saying much;
    -The story, no comment it's just bad;
    -The music is inexistant;
    -Open World/Collectathon don't mix well with platformers. I think that many can agree that the base idea was bad, Zelda BOTW was a lot less hated because the base idea wasn't awful. Zelda BOTW is using the Dark Souls formula and is beautiful, making up for an excellent open world. Mario Odyssey, looks, feels and pretty is boring, empty and soulless. The team working for Mario Odyssey clearly have never done a single open world/sandbox/collectathon before and this is where comes the incompetency;
    -It is full of nostalgia and that's pretty much why it gets much praise, honestly it doesn't make it bad, but I wanted to point it out;
    -No charm, at all;
    -Overall boring: See points stated before;

    I'm also expecting some sort of censorship on Metacritic, especially considering that there are 223 negative ratings for 16 negative reviews, while there are 89 mixed ratings for 49 mixed reviews. I might be paranoid, but if my review happen to disappear, hopefully you will remember it.
    And please guys, understand that this game is not as good as you make it look like, again I didn't go in dept with my review, but many other people did successfully tell you what was wrong with it.
    Honestly this game is not a proper sequel to SM64, the DS version of the game was more of a sequel to be entirely honest.

    Gameplay:
    The puzzles on each level are very easy. You don't feel smart for solving them and there is little to no feeling of joy after completing them. However the game is still a "challenge" due to the controls being so badly designed in this game. More often than not Mario runs in the wrong direction, jumps late, or falls off edges. The way he moves have an acceleration that is way off for a feeling of controll and arcade. The camera makes you loose depth and often take control and force you to look in a direction where it's not really necessary and is in sabotages more than it helps.

    Graphics and visuals:
    The graphics is the best thing about this game. They are very nice and good looking. Every level looked unique and has many characters. Animations are nothing short of perfect. Vfx is awesome and 3D models are of quality. Simply very well done and beautiful.

    Conclusion:
    Over all this is a game worth playing if you don't have anything else to play. But it's a backwards designed game, where it's being more frustrating to play than it is challenging your intellect as a player. The hard part is not marios mission, it's to make him do what you want. But while struggling you'll see very polished visuals.

    O jogo é bom, mas cheio de falhas e não faz nada de tão especial quanto esperávamos, as roupas são só cosmético, tempo de desenvolvimento pra nada, os mundos tem tamanho de fases, não tem nada de mundos neles e o exagero da comunidade nintendista piora ainda mais a experiencia com o jogo, pois, não conseguem perceber os pontos onde o jogo, que é bom, pode ser melhorado.

    While it was difficult to imagine how Nintendo could top previous 3D Mario adventures, Super Mario Odyssey is nigh-on perfect in almost every way. With the help of Cappy, Mario has never been as fun to control, reaching new heights and, in the hands of a skilled player, accomplishing impossible skips. You need only pick up a controller to see why this is the best modern Mario game ever.

    The best entry to the best platforming series is so ridiculously huge it’s like a theme park made of theme parks. It’s a wonderful tribute to Super Mario 64, but it’s not a lazy homage. Super Mario Odyssey draws inspiration from the superb classic to top it and everything that came after it. [13/2017, p.38]
