    A solid if unspectacular entry into the shoot ‘em up stable, Super Hydorah at least provides a decent amount of bang for your buck.

    Super Hydorah is a slick and polished game. The controls are nice and tight, the graphics are atmospheric and suitably varied in style andSuper Hydorah is a slick and polished game. The controls are nice and tight, the graphics are atmospheric and suitably varied in style and palette, and the music is above average. I especially like the way the power up system works. You choose your weapons at the start of each level and collect other items and 'minor' power ups throughout the level. There are lots of regular checkpoints, you don't power down too badly when you die, and you have unlimited continues. Despite all this, the game is no pushover, but you do have the opportunity to learn from your failures to make incremental progress. And by your 3rd play through you will feel like a boss which is super satisfying! If you like this genre you should definitely give this game a try.
