this is easily the worst hockey game ever made

I cannot stress enough how much you should avoid this piece of garbage, I don't care how cheap it is. NEVER play this game.

The first shot of Germany vs my Finland team went into my net. The AI goalkeeper always blocks every shots plus my players are missing a lot of shots. This game does not give you any satisfaction only very high level of frustration. I will never thouch this again, or any other game this company develops. Expand

I can see exactly what the developers were trying to accomplish. An NES/SNES era arcade hockey game with an NFL Blitz franchise mode. Problem is that the execution is very poor. Problem is that the execution is very poor. It seems like it has all of the complex statistics and management aspects, but they really don’t make you feel like you’re actually in control of your franchise. I feel that you can skip almost every single management aspect of the franchise mode and just play the games and you’ll have similar results. The gameplay itself is also pretty poorly executed. It suffers from awful AI on offense and defense, and the game really boils down to maybe two different stats, making the rest of them useless. There is very little strategy in the games either, no matter how good of a play you run, it feels like the goal scoring is almost at random - I have run countless 2-on-1 one timer goals that never make it in, but if I just randomly hit the shoot button with a crowd between the shooter and the goalie, and it goes in. It feels like you have very little control over the outcome of the game. The first hour was fun, but anything beyond that makes the score of the game continue to drop. There really aren’t many redeeming factors to the game. Expand

I understand hockey. I get it. it is insane that I constantly get 2v1 breakaways and pull the final defender away from the net only to have their goalie save EVERY. SINGLE. SHOT. they score at least 10 goals on me every game and I'm lucky if I get a single goal. one of the least fun sports games--games in general--I've played in 30+ years.

Super Blood Hockey is an entertaining sports game, but not necessarily one that will hold your attention for very long. Even with the abundance of options and game modes, the actual matches themselves play out rather similarly to one another, and there’s very little strategy at play here. Nevertheless, it’s a fun ride while it lasts, and you’ll undoubtedly blow off a bit of pent-up steam with this one.

If you’re a Switch-owning hockey fan, and you were hoping that this game might fill the puck-shaped hole on Nintendo systems that’s existed ever since NHL 2K11 came out on the Wii…well, keep hoping, because this doesn’t do the trick. As it stands, you’re still better served with a Switch Online subscription and access to a 30-year-old Ice Hockey than by anything you’ll find here.

Super Blood Hockey varies away from traditional hockey games, though, it still is a ton of fun. It manages live up to it’s name as it is super bloody. The bloodiest hockey game I have ever played in fact. Luck for it the game has more to it than that, it is also really fun to play In some ways, the nontraditional gameplay allows for it to be more fun. There is some unexpected twists and turns along the way. Players wanting to get a fairly decent hockey title to play on the Switch should certainly check it out.
