Super Beat Sports succeeds at doing something familiar but fresh with the rhythm genre and is a blast to play with friends.

In spite of its childish appearance and lack of difficulty options, Super Beat Sports is an entertaining rhythm game and satisfying return to form for Harmonix. Its varied game modes offer a wide mix of challenging levels to conquer and master, while its multiplayer capabilities ensures that it earns a place on the couch for your next late-night party. It might not offer the maturity and depth of Harmonix’s previous efforts, but Super Beat Sports is a welcome addition to the Switch lineup that proves that perhaps the music game genre isn’t entirely dead, after all.

At this point in time, Super Beat Sports is definitely one of the best multiplayer experiences available for Switch. Whether you enjoy competing or cooperating with friends, there's enough rhythm-based fun here to liven up your next party.

Super Beat Sports is a fun rhythm game that's one of the better co-op and competitive offerings on the Switch. Some game modes may be hit-and-miss, but this is an above-average title. The Whacky Ball and Rhythm Racket modes were the most fun I've had with a local multiplayer in a long time, and I'd recommend the purchase of Super Beat Sports based on those two modes alone.

It reminds me of a mashup between Wii Sports and Rhythm Heaven. The catchy fun music so the cartoony graphic style, this game just screams entertaining. The different modes all bring something new and its a blast to play alone or with friends. I just cant get enough of this game, character customization and a huge selection of music are also present. Originally released exclusively for the Apple TV in 2015 as just Beat Sports, Super Beat Sports is bigger, better, and cooler than its ever been. There are three campaign modes and two multiplayer modes, and all of them feel great to play, even those weak in design. The reason for this is because Super Beat Sports steps out of the boundary of just being a rhythm game, and chooses to experiment with the formula in the best way possible. Every environment and music track adheres to the child-like whimsicality of the game, and the seamless combination of rhythm and drawing from memory gives it the strong punch that keeps rhythm-game players striving for perfection. I love the music and the sometimes literal curve-balls the game keeps throwing at you. It's a great game for the price considering I have more hours on this than Super Mario Odyssey. Abstract humor, solid, original art style and delicate difficulty curve is what will keep me playing this. Full Review »
