Sunsoft fans and those who like digging into the margins of console libraries will get a real kick out of Sunsoft is Back! Retro Game Selection‘s offerings. Each game has been handled with care, and it’s great to see some games that missed their shot at localization back in the day finally get a chance. Hopefully this is just the first of a series of such collections, but even if this is all we get, it’s nice to see another side of this once-mighty publisher’s library of classics.

Sunsoft is Back! Retro Game Selection is more about peculiarity than playability. If you’re into NES-era oddities, all three games will deliver despite their difficulty. Priced to move, it’s a fun collection to experience. Just don’t expect that experience to last.

Sadly, SUNSOFT is Back! Retro Game Selection includes only a single engaging title. The compilation’s other two games are unremarkable curios that might be worth a quick look, but only Firework Thrower Kantaro’s trek through Japan is likely to hold your attention.
