Strange Horticulture’s biggest struggle is shoehorning itself into the Switch’s little screen and thumbstick controls. It does that well enough to preserve its wonder, but if you have a PC to play it on, that might be preferable. It comes from a very simple place: a one-screen playfield with basic, heavily scripted interactions. But that is the perfect backdrop to throw the player’s new discoveries into sharp relief and bring an eerie world and gripping mystery to life. This irresistible immersion stems eventually from a quiet and unassuming start, so stick with it – it’ll grow on you.

Much of the game’s thickly melancholic atmosphere comes from the shadier, quasi-mystical side of the business. A unique proposition, with its own rhythm and character, that may just inspire a keen interest in botany.

I didn't think I would love this as much as I did. Yes, the interface is not perfect for consoles, but it's not game breaking at all for me.I didn't think I would love this as much as I did. Yes, the interface is not perfect for consoles, but it's not game breaking at all for me.

The act of identifying plants is really fun, I also like the melancholy and witchy vibes. If you want an immersive experience and something that's not cookie cutter, try this out!

I didn't like it. The text is too small and unreadable. They tried to fix it with a zoom system but ended up being frustrating to use. MaybeI didn't like it. The text is too small and unreadable. Unplayable on Switch - the text is unreadable - there's a terrible zoom system - avoid. Should not have been released on the system in this state.
