The game is too boring and repetitive to justify its starting price, let alone other toys. Once you've visited the first planet, you've been to them all. The inclusion of Star Fox characters feels like Ubisoft making a desperate attempt at capturing the attention of Nintendo fans who would've rightfully ignored this game's release. The overall concept and execution of building physical ships atop a controller is undeniably interesting and is executed well, but that alone cannot justify this game's hefty price. Expand

It's about on par with a mobile game, wasting your time to do task that are not fun and repetitive. Everyone saying this is the best Starfox game is an insult Starfox. Leveling up is pointless since the game is so easy, leveling just makes it easier, and since its open world there is not way to structure difficulty. My advice is if you have to buy this game go physical so you can at least get some money back. Do not buy the digital deluxe. Expand

Starlink is a very repetetive and expensive game. The story is just blant and the gameplay isn't great. Its just another 'saving the galaxy tale'. The starfox story does make it up a bit, but its only 1.5 hours long. The soundtrack is alright at least for the starfox tracks, which are remix tracks from the orginal games. The voiceactors for Fox and his friends also do great jobs. HoweverStarlink is a very repetetive and expensive game. The story is just blant and the gameplay isn't great. However none of this make up for its flaws. Its great that you can design your own ships but the components are just to expensive. One ship costs about 30 euro's. It is possible to also own the ships digital, but that takes all the special out of the game. That's its biggest flaw. It doesn't anything new or outstanding for that matter. Asside from the graphics it feels like I am playing a 15 years old game. It just doesn't justify its pricetag. Its also a shame that ubisoft didn't advertise this game enough. Yes, ofcourse there were a few gameplay video's on youtube, but where are the demo's or the commercials? It feels like ubisoft just doesn't care and that is to bad. Expand

It's just another repetitious grinder with a cash shop taking center stage. It's more like a mobile game designed for whales than a game meant to entertain. The praise i see this game getting is typical of shiny new releases, but if the reviewers bothered to put in any time into the game, they would realize they are hampered unless they dole out more cash for more ships. Of all the games Ubisoft has released in the last several years, this one is the most cash-grabbing piece of crap I've seen yet. Expand

300 dollars for essentially a no mans sky clone, you have got to be kidding me...

Cringe inducing characters and dialogue. Repetitive gameplay. Completing the storyline objectives will leave you wanting more. Pay to unlock ship and weapon upgrades. Not a whole lot to love about this game.

    Starlink as a new franchise isn't perfect, but it's still a whole lot of fun. [Issue #37 – January/February 2019, p. 71]

It's a shame that, for all those nifty custom USB sockets, there's no real connection to be found here. [Christmas 2018, p.112]

Starlink: Battle for Atlas is a surprise hit for Nintendo Switch. Furthermore, embedding Star Fox in was a masterstroke. From a surprisingly good score and audio cues from characters, to stunning vistas and scenery, there are many positives to be had. There will be many who appreciate the large number of tasks to do, but others will be deterred by the repetitiveness of them, although these are largely optional. The main issue is essentially asking what point of sale is the best value for money as no option is cheap.
