Apr 10, 2021Awful port, not worth buying. I was so excited for the game that I pre-ordered it ... Who would've guessed that 16 years old game that ran on original Xbox would be dropping below 15fps.... also really disappointed with Nintendos refund policy, they release broken, almost unplayable game and then don't even offer refunds. This feels like stealing from them...

May 9, 2021Never played this before wish I'd not bothered. Aside from performance issues it controls like a gba game.
This is garbage wish I could get my money back. There's no redeemable feature..
There's no run, no crouch toggle...
I can't say anything else without expletives -

May 5, 2022Here's hoping this prevents someone else from making the same mistake I did.
I loved this game when it originally came out, so I picked up the port to play it again but this port is broken. Your aiming locks up or suddenly skyrockets to the ground or sky for no reason and the frame rate drops to sub 15 fps. Nintendo won't offer your a refund for their unfished port so just don't buy it. -
Aug 10, 2022When it came out it was borderline unplayable, as is usually the case with Aspyr's Star Wars Switch Ports. But now the framerate is finally acceptable to look at, and I love the game. It's very fun and the tactical mechanics are pretty entertaining. A bit short and it ends on a cliffhanger that was never continued, but meh what can you do

Nintendo Force MagazineOct 6, 2021The Jedi Knight games remain the best Star Wars games on the Nintendo Switch, but if you keep your expectations low and take Republic Commando for what it is, you can certainly have fun with this imperfect sci-fi shooter. [Issue #53 – July/August 2021, p. 21]

Jul 26, 2021Obviously, given my lack of familiarity with Star Wars, you may want to take my words with a grain or two of salt. (For all I know, this could be a total affront to the Star Wars canon that still has people mad a decade and a half later.) But as a first-person shooter, it works. It may feel like a time capsule from the mid ‘00s at times, but it’s a solid enough game that it’s pretty fun to play.

Apr 29, 2021I walked away from Star Wars: Republic Commando glad that I had played it, but wishing that I’d done so on another console. This Nintendo Switch port simply doesn’t feel finished, which is a big shame considering how well Aspyr has done on pretty much every other Star Wars port. If you’re willing to look past that then there’s a fun, if dated, game here that shows a side of Star Wars that’s rarely focused on in games.
