Battle foes in top-down action using an arsenal of gadgets, guns, and gear. Explore dangerous corners of the procedurally generated world, take down titans of the mining industry, and harness the power of Sparklite. Everything in the world of Geodia is tied together by Sparklite... it's the life force of the planet, and the inhabitants have learned how to channel it safely. The blue, glowing ore can be harnessed providing a low-level, rechargeable power source. Or, for those brave or greedy enough, it can be consumed for a surge of power with grave consequences. Geodia’s self-titled "Baron" has devised a plot to mine the world’s Sparklite core to meet his own ends. Mining Sparklite in large quantities, the Baron repurposes the ore to fuel his powerful war machines, but the pollution from the consumed Sparklite is corrupting the world. Animals have turned into violent monsters, and the environment is rotting away. Expand

In 2019, I thought I’d seen everything that top-down action-rpgs could dish out. Sparklite is nothing short of a happy surprise, offering new spins on a time-honored genre. From its beautiful graphics to its addictive gameplay, giving this fresh entry anything less than a perfect score would be criminal.

Sparklite is an indie roguelite that offers great progression mechanics to a much-loved genre. It has flaws, but fans need not worry.

It’s visuals and core mechanics hark back to classic action-adventure titles. At the same time, cleverly designed and well defined systems provide for something fresh and exciting.

A charming Zelda-esque Roguelike with a compelling assortment of permanent upgrades. A few technical issues do detract from the experience, but the beautiful world of Sparklite is well worth exploring.

With its rich, colourful and varied world, an exquisite soundtrack and a slick gameplay, Sparklite is loaded with charming elements that will keep players exploring its world and its mechanics for long hours.

Sparklite does an exemplary job of taking what works from the 2D Zelda genre but putting their own unique look and feel to the design. Where it falters is that the maps and dungeons that are a joy to explore in the Legend of Zelda have been replaced with dull and monotonous procedural generation. The discovery of new items and the different ways you can defeat enemies are enough to recommend Sparklite to those who are fans of the genre, the lack of meaningful exploration unfortunately prevents it from becoming a must-play title.

Sparklite's loop can be rewarding, but not when it's extended beyond its means.

Good game for people who looking games similar with old Zelda with roguelike elements. For me is much much better than Moonlighter.

    Pros:
Great animation style and controls, the music is fantastic, the patch system is a unique and fresh take on stats upgrades, the gadget builder is a fun idea, and thats where the positives end.

    Cons:
The game is VERY repetitive, the story is weak, character development wasn't really there, the enemies are easy, and the game is shooooooort!

The game's biggest shortfall is the rogue-like elements. Because of how small the map is, the constant reshuffling of the map every time you die or end a run became very mundane and did nothing to excite me. I quickly got bored and just wanted to finish the game so that I could move on. This game had so much potential to be something great and it fell flat in my eyes. It was a huge disappointment after all the waiting that I did.
