Game has a nice idea with interesting controls but can also get frustrating at times when the snake just does not do what you want. :) Still i gave it 8 points for the great idea, nice visuals and overall good level design.

A great game, gave me several hours of fun but I took a little getting used to the gameplay.

The soundtrack reminds me of banjo kazooie and the HD rumble I found a great addition.

    A great puzzle game.

The visuals are charming, and surprisingly good on Switch even in portable mode. The music is perfectly fitting and relaxing, despite being there only 4 tracks in the game. The aquatic melody is amazing (not surprising since it was made by the composer of DK's aquatic ambience).

For its modest price, this game was a very pleasant surprise and I totally recommend it if you like platformers and challenging controls.

This game is so unique. It is honestly one of the most creative platformers that I have ever seen. The visuals remind me of both Disney and Rare. The music was composed by David Wise of all people!

You play as noodle accompanied by a bird companion
Your only task is to collect the 3 gems spread across the different levels…
only problem is it’s a level of posts.. and you gotta get your snake on to climb them…
This game doesn’t seem to challenging at first…
It isn’t until the 2nd world out of 4 that your realize this games gonna have you throwing things…
There are 15 levels total that will all take a variety of different times depending on luck and how quickly you adapt to being a snake…
    I ultimately never did adapt…
Your main mechanics are move forward... go side to side for speed, lift your head up to climb, and grip.. that’s it…
The rest Is up to you and physics…
The game took me a little less than 4 and a half hours to get through…
Each of the worlds are themed after the different elements…
    earth, which is the intro…
here you’ll just be climbing posts.. collecting the blue orbs and gold coins around…
Water, which I felts was the hardest of the elements…
will introduce the ability to swim under water, this is also where switches are introduced…
you’ll be over the collectibles by then because of how frustrating climbing the poles that are now moving becomes with hazards such as spikes underneath… and the punishment of going over the same obstacles when you fall…
Fire which is where you have to deal with lava.. A decently quick chapter…
And finally air... youre dealing with the wind blowing, ultra frustrating, and this is when your bird friend comes in handy flying you across the different sections…
An after you complete all of the levels for a section you unlock a time trial mode for the levels…
I personally have no interest in the time trial mode, but the actual campaign is a great challenge that tested my patience for sure…
Ultimately I did feel like most deaths were my fault…
The camera doesn’t follow you automatically though…
So most is the keyword here..
The camera is an issue at times when you can’t see where you snake is pointed
thankfully there’s a decent amount of checkpoints around to make it less painful…
    and you’ll need them.
    I give Snake Pass

Snake Pass exceeded my expectations. It can be very difficult, but never did it feel unfair. Every I failed to platform it was my fault, the level design is brilliant and the music is fantastic! They really payed close attention to detail. Water droplets smack drums in time and tune to the music. A cheerful slithery platformer.

This is a 'budget' game that surprised me. I am so happy they could port it to the Switch in such a short time. It's a great platformer and also a puzzle how to reach things. To be fair, i will reward this with a 9 out of 10, by comparing in to other games that release in this medium price range (€19,99).

I personally love that you have to pretend you're a snake yourself it's exactly like being a snake you'll need to be slithering around like one to gain more speed. The visuals are pretty good except some aspects which could be improved on however you will still have a blast with this uniquely fun 3D adventure.

Not to mention, if you die without touching one of the checkpoints after getting a collectible, you have to go back an get all **** over again! And every world has the SAME **** ANNOYING MUSIC in the background of every level. David Wise's music doesn't fit as well in this because this looks like a crappy kickstarter game, even though Yooka-Laylee, which is crowd-funded, looks better than this plastic-ass piece of **** art style. Other people may like this game more for it's "unique" take on platforming, by wish I could get my money back. Also, the camera **** sucks. It zooms in and out when it feels like it, and it can **** up your climb half way through and lead to falls and even death. The only reason I bought this game was because it looked interesting and the Switch has no decent games other than Zelda. Looking forward to Mario Kart this month though. Anyway, **** this game.

Boring and uninspired. Cashed on the fact that there is a serious drought of games for the Switch, hence it got more sales than it should.
Mechanics are boring and the control scheme is so bad it's unnerving. Add to the fact that you can't leave a level mid-game unless you decide to start it over again.

Do not spend $20 on this game unless:
    - You have a high frustration tolerance
    - You love doing the same thing over and over and failing a lot.

I think I know why I have such a problem with the game's controls.
The game's concept is fine, but the actual control scheme is terrible.

There's some sort of constraint system here where it auto tries to place the snake head in a valid state, but the problem is that the input is only a "suggestion" of sorts. For example, if you do some stuff and then suddenly let go of all controls, depending on what the environment is the snake head can go forwards, backwards, down, down and swing around, down and not swing around, up and swing clockwise, up and swing counter clockwise. Basically ANYTHING can happen depending on context.

This means 95% of the game is about learning how the auto-constraint system will solve for the snake's animation at any given environment state and relative camera position, rather than actually learning how the snake moves. This is a boring thing to learn, very un-fun. Learning how to move a snake is fun, learning how to work around a COMPLETELY broken and buggy mess of a rope constraint animation system is not. This game is 5% former, 95% latter.

The controls aren't just frustrating to learn, they never cease to be frustrating, with Noodle never responding in the way you expect. Snake Pass is colorful, and the main character Noodle is absolutely adorable, but all of the cute aesthetic choices just clash with how mindbogglingly difficult this game is. It's also not a good difficulty like Hyper Light Drifter or Dark Souls, it's an unfair and frustrating difficulty without a true learning curve.

The game starts off frustrating, and later levels have very little in terms of additional challenges to overcome, in many ways the opposite of a good difficulty curve.

After 5 or 6 hours with this game, as you finally learn to play around the anything but tight control scheme, and a PS1 era camera that fights you the whole game (and with an abysmally slow swivel speed and no camera acceleration options) this game does become fun, and it's uniqueness does set it apart from other platformers.

In terms of fidelity and performance. Snake Pass maintains a solid 30 FPS when docked on the Switch (same as PS4 and XBox One) and renders at a 675p resolution (lower than the PS4's 860p). Undocked it may drop a frame or two but it's rarely if ever noticeable and it still maintains 30 frames the vast majority of the time. In handheld mode it renders at around 480p resolution. The only way to play this game in an HD resolution or with 60 frames per second is on the PC or PS4 Pro. Evidence of lazy console ports across the board. The Switch is also missing a few shaders and effects (most notably depth of field) compared to PS4, but nothing that detracts from the experience in a meaningful way.

Overall there is a fun game here, but it's hidden behind a horrid control scheme and some strange technical limitations.

Another complaint people seem to have is the controls, or the mechanics of the character, the snake, of course they're going to be weird, I thought I was going to hate the game at first, but trust me, it takes practice, and as soon as you get the hang of it, it's pretty thorough with what it set out to be, You're not a human playing a human, you're a human playing a snake.

For those who persevere and manage to find themselves one with the controls – those that embody the life of a snake – you’ll likely look back on this as a hidden gem that was glossed over by far too many. Personally it’s a game that I enjoy; one that I want to finish but never will. The pain of dropping to my death and losing minutes of progress for the eighth time, because my fingers just couldn’t keep up, outweighs the immense joy I got from succeeding on the ninth attempt.
