Nice setting but the level design combined with the un precise controls can be really frustrating. Doing the same section again and again and again because your snake is just somehow deciding to fall off is just stupid. Additionally the camera movement could be done a lot better and the music is just boring.

I bought it to have a relaxing game which I could also play with my kids but

While the movement physics are being praised as original the learning curve is steep and young players and beginners alike will find themselves needlessly frustrated as you attempt to bob and weave through the relatively short 19 levels. The poor camera system is ultimately the death nail for Snake Pass. Far too often I found myself fighting the camera to gain preservative of where I was in space relative to the object I was attempting to slither myself around to gain access to higher areas. The camera would either to exceeding far away from the character or so close the camera would actually clip into the level geometry. While the visuals are bright and colorful, control and camera make the game. In these all important aspects this title fails. Expand

Not my cup of tea. i actually wrote to nintendo about a refund for this game, it feels empty, you just crawl around collecting worthless collectables and there is no story.

You might like it, i don't.

This game wont give you more than a few hours worth of fun before you start thinking of deleting it to conserve space. It is yet another game I wouldn't have bought if there were more decent games available on the switch.

    I **** hate this game.
For twenty dollars, I was expecting more. Maybe I just suck at it, but this game is **** cruel. The "grip" function doesn't work and the controls are ass all around. {Default and Easy options} And also, the bird holding your tail does nothing to help you either, it just hinders your grip. And slithering around, no matter how hard I tried, doesn't make you go any

And slithering around, no matter how hard I tried, doesn't make you go any faster. This leads to monotonous inching your way through each level. Not to mention, if you die without touching one of the checkpoints after getting a collectible, you have to go back an get all **** over again! And every world has the SAME **** ANNOYING MUSIC in the background of every level. David Wise's music doesn't fit as well in this because this looks like a crappy kickstarter game, even though Yooka-Laylee, which is crowd-funded, looks better than this plastic-ass piece of **** art style. Other people may like this game more for it's "unique" take on platforming, by wish I could get my money back. Also, the camera **** sucks. It zooms in and out when it feels like it, and it can **** up your climb half way through and lead to falls and even death. The only reason I bought this game was because it looked interesting and the Switch has no decent games other than Zelda. Looking forward to Mario Kart this month though. Anyway, **** this game.

Boring and uninspired. Cashed on the fact that there is a serious drought of games for the Switch, hence it got more sales than it should.
Mechanics are boring and the control scheme is so bad it's unnerving. Add to the fact that you can't leave a level mid-game unless you decide to start it over again.

Never listen to the hype! I made this mistake, don't do it too!

Do not spend $20 on this game unless:
    - You have a high frustration tolerance
    - You love doing the same thing over and over and failing a lot.
    - You enjoy activities like the game of Operation, or tight rope walking.
    - You're not expecting Banjo Kazooie 3.

The characters are fun, and the settings and music are nice. But my frustration with the gameplay cannot be overstated.

This is by far the worst Switch game out right now. I would love to like it, the idea is great, the music is great, but the camera and controls are so badly programmed that it is just an endless frustration. I think I know why I have such a problem with the game's controls.
The game's concept is fine, but the actual control scheme is terrible.
There's some sort of constraint system here where it auto tries to place the snake head in a valid state, but the problem is that the input is only a "suggestion" of sorts. For example, if you do some stuff and then suddenly let go of all controls,

There's some sort of constraint system here where it auto tries to place the snake head in a valid state, but the problem is that the input is only a "suggestion" of sorts. For example, if you do some stuff and then suddenly let go of all controls, depending on what the environment is the snake head can go forwards, backwards, down, down and swing around, down and not swing around, up and swing clockwise, up and swing counter clockwise. Basically ANYTHING can happen depending on context.

This means 95% of the game is about learning how the auto-constraint system will solve for the snake's animation at any given environment state and relative camera position, rather than actually learning how the snake moves. This is a boring thing to learn, very un-fun. Learning how to move a snake is fun, learning how to work around a COMPLETELY broken and buggy mess of a rope constraint animation system is not. This game is 5% former, 95% latter.

The difficulty of a single passage on level 6 completely spoils the entire game. It is almost impossible move forward, very frustrating and totally unpaired with the rest of the game playability.

I listened to reviews on you tube during this spring sale and this title cam up a lot, so I gave it a try. It was a waste of money and of space on switch (4 gb). The graphics are lagging, there are similar games that perform extremely well on switch, but this was definitely not well ported. And the mechanics - oh boy, confusing as hell, annoying and unnatural. I may be one of the few not enjoying this at all, but I recommend checking out other games that will perform better on Switch, because while this idea is original, it just doesn't hit the right spots on this platform. For those who persevere and manage to find themselves one with the controls – those that embody the life of a snake – you’ll likely look back on this as a hidden gem that was glossed over by far too many. Personally it’s a game that I enjoy; one that I want to finish but never will. The pain of dropping to my death and losing minutes of progress for the eighth time, because my fingers just couldn’t keep up, outweighs the immense joy I got from succeeding on the ninth attempt.

A charming design that puts an inventive twist on puzzle platformers. If you can stomach some moments of frustration, Snake Pass is certainly worth a look. [Issue #27 – May/June 2017, p. 25]

It may look childish, but it's a challenging and tough platformer. Put the blame on its tricky control scheme.
