Overall, between the microtransactions and graphics balanced with the gameplay and storyline – I would argue that the game is pretty decent. I don’t get to have my own Pegasus or be trained by Phil the Centaur, but being a Paladin God who saves people is a pretty decent experience, even without the Muses to sing about my experiences.

Skyforge is a solid MMO that is committed to a free business model with lots of content and a solid proposition. Unfortunately, the virtues of this game are blurred in a sea of technical problems that weigh down the gaming experience.

Overall, I had a good time with Skyforge. The combat and the missions were enough to make me want to return to it, and the story was passably entertaining, if not exactly riveting. While it’s got some issues, I think that if it gets a little polish, it’ll be a pretty solid game. Pending the necessary currency clarity and a bit of cleaning up, it could fill an enormous void on the Switch and give us an MMO we need.

A decent multiplayer time-waster hamstrung by technical issues, Skyforge's Switch port is simply not fit for purpose.

One plus side of this release is that Skyforge is free to play! If you own a Nintendo Switch, there is absolutely no risk at all involved for you to jump in the game and try it out for yourself. I always highly encourage anyone who has even the slightest bit of interest to try it out for themselves. I will definitely be keeping my eye on Skyforge for the next few weeks to see whether or not they pull through on their end with fixes. If that happens, I would be more than happy to update this review with a newer article, score, and impressions. For now, I’ll just have to say goodbye to my beautiful wings and halo, and hang them up for a day when they can be utilized to their fullest without the constant crashing.

Skyforge is a properly mediocre MMORPG that could, perhaps, have been a reasonable enough little timesink for a bunch of friends or solo players who just want to mindlessly blow through its content without thinking too much. There's no shortage of content here, and the idea of having eighteen different classes to master is an attractive one. However, this Switch port is such a huge disappointment on a technical level; it's such a lazy, janky, stuttery, buggy, low-resolution mess that it's hard to see how anyone could be bothered to stick with it for long enough to properly engage with anything it's got to offer. If you're in need of an MMORPG to play on your Switch right now, we recommend you download and play just about anything else that's available because seriously, this ain't it.

It has all the promise of being a great 'witcher, /elders scrolls or breath of the wild. On the other platforms, it was even better. But not for Switch. To me, it seems like a lazy port riddled with technical issues. I had stuttering, bad image rendering, freezing in the middle of battles and even an issue when my camera would spin and drag me back to my starting point. And what is with the 30 sec load times pretty much every step of the way. The visuals and story seem like they could be great, but after arguing and fighting with my console, I'm ready to delete the game altogether and give it a miss. Ports can always be a challenge for developers, but you know the switch as a number or really good ports that prove that it can be done. So shame on you developers. Full Review »

Nobody tried this out on handheld mode before shipping this thing out. Graphics are better on a mobile phone or tablet than this blurry garbage. Load times are atrocious, I barely want to play your game, and you’re going to make me wait so long that I realize this isn’t worth my time? Really smart stuff. Uninstalled before I even completed the tutorial. Full Review »
