Sir Lovalot is a simple platformer that packs a lot into its less than 2 hour runtime, but struggles with water levels.

There’s a certain spice missing that keeps this from being genuinely great, but it’s an enjoyable enough romp for fans of challenging platformers.

Sir Lovelot looks great but doesn't feel so great. It fails to leave an impression due to the plain level design and the absence of challenge.

Sir Lovelot is a refreshingly simplistic platformer that focuses on delivering a tight gameplay experience and not much else. There’s no story to bog things down, no abilities to upgrade or stats to improve – there’s just a neat visual aaesthetic and some exceptionally smooth running and jumping, which feels great and is satisfying to pull off. Fans of ultra-hard platformers may find Sir Lovelot to be a little on the easy side, but for the rest of us, the game does a nice job of offering a challenging experience without being too punishing.

It’s like an entry level Super Meat Boy but slower paced. It’s generally ok, but after the fluidity of SMB it feels a bit sluggish. I alsoIt’s like an entry level Super Meat Boy but slower paced. It’s generally ok, but after the fluidity of SMB it feels a bit sluggish. I also found some of the level design questionable, like putting a collectible beyond the goal (the damsel’s hair) so that it’s hard not to accidentally hit the goal before clearing the level 100%. A final death trap is one thing, but tricking you into clearing a level and having to start over is just silly. Tbh I’m probably less impressed with it because I’m fresh from playing Slime San, which is a spectacular addition to the genre. Expand
