    NO HOT SEAT!
This game is a total scam and disappointment. The only reason why I bought this non-refundable game was to play hot seat, which was the most enjoyable feature in Civ 5
    I want my money back!

    - not all the DLCs are included
    - no online mode
    - NO HOT SEAT LOCAL MULTIPLAYER, it's the only reason I bought this game and it is not included even though it is in all the other platforms...

The switch version of this game is a rip-off, do not buy this game.

I have day one buyers regret for my first Civ game. Civ 1 was great, but I really got into the game when hot seat was introduced in Civ 2 Gold. Playing hot seat with friends and family is an expected feature on Civ games. 2K should have let people know that this game was missing all multi-player, including hot seat. At $60 this game is a rip off. It doesn't have Rise and Fall, it has day one DLC, doesn't include multi-player; I wonder if Nintendo should pull this incomplete game from their store. Even the iPad version of the game has hot seat. Expand

I just threw $60 in the trash on Civilization VI for Switch. No hot seat local multiplayer. A staple of the series. 0/10

Worst game I've ever played, I don't understand a thing. And everyone saying "Go watch 10000 hours of guides", yeah I want to play the game, but first I need to check guides for a month... What a **** game... Games needing games are **** games...

Gathering Storm:The Dealing System is so so flawed - it becomes a game stopper imho

After a year of waiting for the price to drop, I bit the bullet and bought GS. I enjoyed the challenge of maintaining loyalty and governing cities.

On my first game, though, I started to notice some irritants that made dealing very boring.

I might be wanting to sell say a unit of oil, for example, and get offered (say)180 pieces of gold.
The AI nation might have enough to buy more than 50 units of oil BUT when I try to sell them two or more units, they refuse to pay more or very little more.
BUT, in the same turn, they will buy all 50 units, one at a time.
This does not mirror real life. Buying in bulk should lead to a discount I agree but selling/buying units one at a time: I find boring.

    AND it gets worse.....

I'm lateish on in the game. I 'm now finding that AI nations will pay say 200+ for one unit of coal - fair enough BUT they will also pay 330/turn for 30 turns too.
I've just been able to sell Pericles (for example) one unit of Uranium.
In exchange, I've received the Truffles luxury, 367 pieces of gold for 30 turns, 3 units of aluminium, 6 units of coal and 5 units of.... URANIUM!

I can get the same type of deal with all the other nations who consider me as friend.....

I did this a few times and then realised I could bleed all these dry of their money and resources whilst my coffers are filling up at over 4000 pieces of gold a turn; my whole nation id ecstatic because I've cornered all the luxuries, my strategic resource stocks are full to the limit,,, and so on.

It's no longer a game and so I have stopped playing.

This game won't even launch on most systems without going through a huge ordeal. If you have Windows 7 forget about it, it won't launch unless you spend a thousand hours online doing research on how to reprogram garbage that doesn't work.

Garbage game. Plays horribly on console. Don't waste your time or money. That's all I have to say about this.

DONT BUY THE GAME ON SWITCH, it crash alot when on higher turn, i mean i knew something called hardware limitation and i expected to play this game on like 10 fps after like 200 turn but i never expected the constant crash, the only fix i knew and work at my device is save on cloud and put your autosave to all (i own the platinum version)

There is a long tutorial that explains the game, tho i often still have no clue what to do, or if there is anything to do after all, except pointlessly moving units around on the map. Seems like the Civ games are not for me, i stopped playing after about 2 hours.

A wonderful game at launch, the game is now completely unplayable after the launch of its expansion packs (Rise and Fall and Gathering Storm).

With the new content and mechanics added in, the game crashes or hits game breaking bugs in every single session and it is impossible to complete a game, and barely possible to progress to the mid-game experience. Recommend completely avoiding

This game is constantly riddled with game-breaking bugs on the Switch. I love Civ. I bought this game on PC, iPad, and switch. I have all of the expansions. It's a fun game, but it isn't playable. This long after release, these bugs are completely unacceptable.

This is the a buggy, terrible, not well tested port of civilization VI. Please do yourself a favor by not spending your money on this junk. That means you need to save the game every turn manually to make sure you don't lose any progress. I am not talking about big maps or 400+ rounds. I have a small map and it crash on me in less than 20 turns! I did everything, move it to the console memory from SD card, re-download everything to make sure there is no data corruption. Not helping at all. Build a new game with small map and it crashes again after a few turns. What are you guys thinking 2K Games? Is this a new way to rob money from your fans? Expand

This game might be great if you've played it before.
But if you have not, there is no tutorial, it's very confusing, nothing in explained properly, even if you mark yourself as never played. You are expected to just dive in with no knowledge of how things work.
    It's stupid, it's a waste of money.

This version of Civilization really ruins the experience for me by focusing heavily on competitive gameplay over the sandbox aspects of the game. It will give you suboptimal start positions. The AI can definitely see what you are doing without regards to the fog of war. They will get extra resources, research and culture.

Even on relatively easy settings, it feels very much like the game

Even on relatively easy settings, it feels very much like the game is trying to railroading the player into competitive play. And that's okay, if you're training for competitive play. But part of the fun of the older Civ games was that you didn't need to "Get Gud".
You could just mess around in the sandbox and relax.

Can't really do that any more.

    Kinda ruins the fun.

I don't want to be continually optimizing the stats in order to basically function. I'd really rather just putz around and have fun with crazy scenarios and oddball approaches.

I’ve been playing these games since the 90s. Alpha Centauri was one of my favorites. There are two problems with this game:

Towards 500? The game starts crashing incessantly. I couldn’t even finish it one time because of the software defects

    2) woke stupidity. The content creators for the game have become miseducated and foolish. Older games such as Alpha Centauri were intelligent. They called upon classical wisdom. There were great quotes and sensible game mechanics. Now they quote mindless entertainers, actors, and ironic amusements. Because being “clever” is superior to these people rather than being intelligent. They dredge up mediocre people from history now just to impose “equity,” women and non-western “Great People” who are not really “great people” in the history books, but selected with bias in order to pretend as though women, Asians, and Africans contributed as much to these industries as white males. Some less subtle items: Saladin talks about “peaceful” cooperation and friendship being the way to victory when you defeat him by the sword. Yes. That Saladin. Islamic warlord Saladin. Besides the moronic leftwing revisionist history, the environmental mechanics was a great addition. It reminded me a bit of how Aloha Centauri’s fungal environment could pose a danger. The woke stupidity and historical butchery would have tanked the game to a 5/10, but the software defects are simply inexcusable for such a large studio. Do not buy this game if you value your time. Sitting through 3-minute turns at the end is about the worst experience you can imagine, and the persistent crashing makes it virtually unplayable after turn 470.

City building is so simple (Kindergartener level) that its mindnumpingly boring (being relegated to clicking a production option, placing a tile, and then wasting your life waiting), yet the game still somehow manages to have a ton of ridiculously convoluted mechanics at the same time. Science, culture, faith, domination, and victory are basically totally separate boring minigames that overlap very little with each other and the game forces you to play exactly how it wants you to play with little freedom for deviation, otherwise you have zero chance of any victory even on prince difficulty. AI is incredibly unbalanced being either too aggressive and overpowered or completely incompetent. Did you build more wonders that Qin Shi Huang or have a different system of government than Victoria? Better start pumping out those units to defend yourself or get completley F-ed. Worst feature in this title by far is the completely wack pacing of the game. Late game is so agonizingly slow (taking literally hundreds of turns to get through the 21st century) that finishing a game feels more like a punishing chore than a rewarding experience. Rising Fall and Gathering Storm only make the base game ever worse with cool concepts (ie. climate change, future tech) that are completely botched and wasted and only punish the player with shallow stupid mechanics like unpreventable coastal city flooding. This all isn't even mentioning the tons of crashes on the Switch that make the game borderline unplayable. Overall, this feels less like an actual game and more like an unfinished demo. Expand

It’s the sort of game that, at least to me, feels tailor-made for playing on a handheld, and once you get past the loading screens, it runs pretty smoothly (a stark contrast to Civilization Revolution on the Vita, which chugged as you got closer to the endgame). If you’re a Civilization veteran wondering whether you invest in the Switch version, I obviously can’t help you, but everyone else should find plenty here to like.

Lack of several DLCs can be overlooked, impossibility to buy the big Rise & Fall expansion less so, and the butchered multiplayer options are downright annoying. Still, this is a good port of a brilliant game which is a perfect fit for Nintendo Switch.
