    Sadly, I found later levels lost a lot of the game's early steam, as too much of the old "pixel perfect" platforming starts to creep in.

    I always liked Shovel Knight, but I never loved it. Not until it came to Switch.

    It has its moments, but overall it's just immensely frustrating with a very strange, uneven difficulty curve and poor checkpoint placement. Towards the end it becomes truly unbearable with the forced sidescrolling/topscrolling sections, flying enemies and really sadistic level design. Not fun.
