Jan 26, 2019I'm not sure to be a big fan of platform games, but I want to try with this one. Ok game. I absolutely hate the lightning / darkness features that make you jump / act blindly : if this is the notion of fun, it bored me to death. But there is more than that, and I can understand the praise, though a bit disappointed. Maybe platform game is simply not for me (but then enjoyed a lot Mario Odyssey).

Sep 28, 2020I do feel the name speaks for itself. This game is truly a treasure trove of content. Fun throughout.
-
Aug 3, 2021this is one of the legendary indie games, and a must buy. my favorite part of these games are how they adds new mechanics constantly throughout the level, usually to combine them all in the final stretch in a very difficult section. King of cards has more simple, shorter levels, similar to mario games.
Shovel of hope:10/10
Plague of shadows:7/10
specter of torment: 10/10
king of cards:11/10 -
May 26, 2022Played the first three and they are brilliant. Actually brilliant. Can be difficult, but the checkpoint system makes the game feel fair, like you’re able to jump straight back into things. Brilliant games.
-
Feb 3, 2023Definitely a highlight in the modern indie game scene. The full package with every story expansions adds so much, so many fresh stories and mechanics to each character. The team did a beautiful job translating a classic genre for new generations looking to dip their toes in the games many inspirations and and references.

Apr 16, 2017What more do you want a game that is the son of megaman, mario 3 and many more, with coperative game, all DLC with game mode very different than the normal and the best you can take with you to wherever you want.

Jun 4, 2017A lot of games are out to emulate the retro-platformer format, but none do it quite like Shovel Knight - a game that take the best elements of mario, megaman and the like, and integrates them into one immensely playable game. Recent DLC is enough to keep players busy for years. Top-notch game design, plenty of fun and a whole lotta value for money.

Nov 15, 2018I give full marks to the Specter of Torment which was by one of the best platformers I've played recently but the original Shovel of Hope and Plague of Shadows handle awfully, I mean worse than the original Super Mario Bros. on the NES, and if you can't out do a games approx. 25 years older then it's not worth my time (and unfortunately I'd like a discount based on what I paid!)

-
Jun 7, 2017Amazing game, looks really nice, music is insane. Platforming might be a bit tricky for some, but never gets boring since every level adds something new. Bosses can be a bit repetative, and after getting used to the controls, they are gonna be very easy.
-
Jul 22, 2017Honestly, I don't get why this game is so popular.
It has its moments, but overall it's just immensely frustrating with a very strange, uneven difficulty curve and poor checkpoint placement. Towards the end it becomes truly unbearable with the forced sidescrolling/topscrolling sections, flying enemies and really sadistic level design. Not fun. -
Dec 26, 2017Not bad for the price. When I first played it I almost deleted it in disgust and anger but I'm pleased I gave it a second chance. It is enjoyable in short bursts.
-
Mar 7, 2017This is a fantastic game. The inclusion of all DLC makes this more than worth every penny.
If you like retro platformers such as Mario 3, Megaman, etc, you NEED to play this game. -

Mar 9, 2017The same game of Ps4 and One but on my point of view a little better since they have fixed the story and the gameplay is still as fresh but with some better and the other content that have added to the game that if it is not much me It looks like I was pretty good at this indie game.
Great game 8/10 -

Jun 15, 2018I never really enjoyed these kinds of games really but Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove became a very adictive and enjoyable experience. Platform games tend to be repetitive and boring after a while but since Shovel Knight has elements of an RPG makes it fresh and a great experience.
-
Dec 1, 2018shovel knight is to indie games what Mario is to Nintendo. this game is delightful from start to finish. an absolute must play
-
Apr 1, 201925 dollars for this hunk of hassid?? i pay for 0.99 dollars for my favorite game angry birds star wars 2 and guess what its my FAVORITE game so..
-
Jun 6, 2017This isnt my type of game. It has NES type gameplay that move from left to right, I like this over turn based game but this isn't good either. Since I wasn't all that interested in the game i'm only about 10 minutes in and can't say much more.

Aug 24, 2020Terrible character controls make the game borderline unplayable, and definitely not enjoyable.
I seriously don't know what yall smoked to give it a 10.
The original Super Mario Brothers controlled much better than this. -

Sep 16, 2020Overrated made videogame; it took all the frustrating **** from old games, made another game in the oversatured artstyle and it is just ****
-
Jan 6, 2021Not fun at all. Feels like an old arcade game where the only goal was to get you to shove more quarters into the machine. Die, go back to the last checkpoint, grind your way back to some unfun boss or “skill” test, die, go back to the last checkpoint, etc., etc. Old graphics, old mechanics ... worth $5 maximum.
-
Jan 7, 2021An expensive trip down memory lane, when games really sucked. Repetitive, frustrating, and ridiculously overpriced at $30.
-
Mar 16, 2017This is to offset that one ignorant person who gave this a 0 because "He played this stuff in the 80's". It's called nostalgia, get a clue, man. This game is great, just like the original shovel knight. Specter of Torment especially is great. the movement feels very fluid.
-
Apr 1, 2019ik jbakes25 already said this but he is absolutely right, this game is RIPPIN OFF every other game. oh and by the way april fools jake you're freaking wrong! 0/10
-
Nov 1, 2017Good game, but not a gem nor a masterpiece. People should control their hype before writing a review. The main adventure is actually good, but too short. The DLCs are not as good.
-
Jan 2, 2018Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove perfectly encapsulates what is so great about playing modern-retro games inspired by the 8-bit era of the 1980s and early 90’s without being derivative or trapped in the past.
-
Nov 1, 2019I was just looking for something to play when i first got my switch, i can tell you that im not the biggest fan of indie games but man did this game blow me away! My god is the soundtrack not absoolutely amazing, and gameplay is just superb! Definetly a must buy.
-
Aug 10, 2017Best version of an amazing game. Shovel Knight and the first expansion are brilliant, however specter of torment is my new favorite. Specter controls and platforming is too much fun.

Nov 8, 2017Shovel Knight is one of my favourite indie, great gameplay styles, nice visuals, music and fantastic level design. If you like 2d platformer Shovel Knight is a must-have,
-
Dec 28, 2017This game is great. It give a Mario like feel, but harder. If you enjoy Mario, you will love this game. It is very good, has nice retro graphics, and is a great fit for the switch. It is three games in one, for less than half the price of AAA games. Great overall, Must BUY!
-
Feb 8, 2018Old platformer were great shovel night is amizeing great great levels greats bosses just buy it. Its so good
-
Aug 1, 2018I had played the Nintendo Wii U version of this game. But it is the same game. Shovel Knight has beautiful retro styled art and soundtrack, with cleverly designed levels and bosses. You can put MANY hours into this game, like I did. So play this game. You have to.

Jun 26, 2018It's crazy fun. Even a two-player play is fun.
The dot graphics and level design are very impressive and this has a gameplay that fits the name 'Shovel Knight'. -
Aug 5, 2018I don't hand out 9/10 ratings often. There's not much I can write that hasn't been said already. For people who are into good ol' 2d platforming (fans of Mega Man) you wont be disappointed. The Treasure Trove offers lots of gameplay and secrets, plus when the King of Cards expansion is released it comes with it free. Damn!

Apr 16, 2019A lot of content and a lot of fun content with this game. For a 2d game with this graphic style, Shovel Knight is the way to go.
-
Apr 3, 2020What a legendary experience this game is. All 4 DLC bring so much to the table, and really mix it up every-time.
-
Sep 19, 2019Shovel Knight is a great platformer game that is challenging yet rewarding. The music really fits and is great, and the boss battles, though frustrating at times is very rewarding. If you crew up with retro games, give Shovel Knight a shot, and I don't think you'll be disappointed.
-
Sep 28, 2019Tres juego a 30 dolares ademas que si lo compras te vendra con el showdow y el king of cards y ademas que son muy disfutables todos. Callense y tomen mi dinero

Nov 21, 2019Really amazing old school retro styled action platformer. Games like this, the messenger and haunted halloween 86 are great reminders of why we play games...to have fun!

Dec 4, 2020Nice graphics, excellent gameplay and an amazing soundtrack. This game understood the greatness of retro 2D-Platormers and took it to the sky and beyond! I enjoyed every bit of the four campaigns, it's worth every penny!

Feb 9, 2021A very good indie game and 2D Platformer. I had many fun with that game. The graphic is also cool.
-
Jun 29, 2022this game is not good. i really dislike all the content from here. the gameplay is so... lazy?
-
Sep 12, 2020Not a bad game, but certainly does not live up its name and all the ridiculous praise.
Very generic plattformer at best -

Jan 11, 2022Soo much passion was put into this game. Amazing soundtrack and combat. Amazing content and replayability. Such a good game, although quite diffucult.
-
Apr 22, 2021Not too difficult. Always fair. 100s of mechanics. The difficult is not felt as a chore. Can be played as bite sized chunch. The 4 characters play very differently and the makes to game looks like new every time. The fact that the story is coherent and interesting all along is remarkable. The only other game that goes that far is Hollow Knight.
-
Aug 23, 2023Auf und ab, Buddel für die wahre Liebe. Bring die Schaufel mit, mein Herz ist aus Gold. Treasure Trove müsst ihr um jeden Preis physisch erstehen.

Mar 17, 2022I know this gets a lot of love, but I just cant get into it. I am relatively new to video games and this felt so dated to me. I assume many people feel nostalgia while playing this, but I just felt frustration at the artificial limits placed on the player due to trying to achieve that "older" feel.

Apr 21, 2017Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove is practically a must-own for anyone who has just picked up a Nintendo Switch. The expected excellent platforming fun, enjoyable storytelling, and impressive art and sound of all three campaigns not only comes all packed together in one title, but also includes better accessibility than ever before on a platform the title feels made for.
-
Apr 6, 2017Treasure Trove is packed to the brim with content and the different ways you can play through these games is wonderfully broad. Whether its co-op or solo, handheld or docked – it’s up to you. I don’t care. Just go play Shovel Knight.
-
Mar 22, 2017Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove is a compilation of the previous Shovel Knight adventures that gets everything right. Its long lifespan, very detailed and quality level design, as well as its challenges and plot make the Shovel Knight series one of the best contemporary platformers designed in the 8-bit retro style. With Treasure Trove, fans of old school sidescrollers will find everything they could want.
