The Definitive Edition is certainly the strongest version of the game out there and offers one more gameplay mode to explore with local co-op, but it isn’t without its problems either. Given the anime and notable JRPG influences of the series, I hope that RWBY fans will one day get a stronger RPG-adjacent outing to play through. As it stands, RWBY: Grimm Eclipse is simply a game for fans to play in short, diversionary bursts. Playing for much longer can diminish the little bit of fun there is to be found.

The Definitive Edition is an attempt at a quick cash grab while there is still some love for the franchise. The limiting two-player couch co-op, the lower resolution visuals and no new features are not something to fault the Switch console for, but at least you get all of the DLCs.

RWBY: Grimm Eclipse Definitive Edition is fun for only a little while before the gameplay becomes too repetitive.

There so many problems with this game... low textures, you cannot choose a host game specific (just random rooms), music bugs, bad camera....There so many problems with this game... low textures, you cannot choose a host game specific (just random rooms), music bugs, bad camera....
"So, why you give a 7?" Because it's a Fun game at all rsrs But you need to consider all the problems and IT'S A ONLINE GAME ! Don't buy if you are planning play it offline.
But it's a coop hack'n Slash with Tower Defense modes... The best bad game of the year.

Games based on existing properties I'm unfamiliar with are always a bit of a challenge to fully appreciate but in the case of Grimm Eclipse IGames based on existing properties I'm unfamiliar with are always a bit of a challenge to fully appreciate but in the case of Grimm Eclipse I think my issues with it are deeper than that. Billed as a co-op friendly beat-em-up it sounded like it could be a good time. There are numerous characters to choose from, and befitting the fact that this edition includes the cosmetic DLC you'll additionally be able to gear your character up in a variety of ways to suit your taste. Now, on its surface this all seems to work well enough, with each character playing a bit differently, and at a high level the 3D environments and action not looking shabby at all. All that said though, there's also something sadly shallow about the experience both in terms of gameplay and story. The play itself struggles more than most in the genre with a feeling of repetition and doesn't tend to be satisfying for long, and then pretty unusually for an existing property it feels like there's no real story to help keep you engaged to see what happens next. Fans who want to beat stuff up as their favorite characters may get a kick out of it but otherwise you'll likely want to move onto something else in the eShop.

This is the purest definition of shovelware. combat is repetitive and boring, story is bland, and overall looks ugly, PS2 games looks betterThis is the purest definition of shovelware. combat is repetitive and boring, story is bland, and overall looks ugly, PS2 games looks better than this. Spending $30 on a game that was abandoned years ago and only gives you costumes and a horrible splitscreen mode is an actual joke. Expand
