As you interact with cards the dungeon dynamically adjusts based on what you're doing. Ring of Pain blends elements of modern roguelike/roguelite dungeon crawlers (Binding of Isaac, Enter the Gungeon etc) with a turn-based card game, set in a world distorted by your mind. It’s weird to say that all of these usually negative qualities are actually positives for Ring of Pain. Who ever really wants to be disturbed? I don’t. However, I can’t help but admire how efficiently Simon Boxer and Twice Different can disturb. This is a game designed with a vision which was successfully executed. Playing Ring of Pain to see that execution alone would be worth it. Fortunately, there also happens to be a decently compelling dungeon crawler in there despite some pain points.

Ring of Pain is noteworthy in that it brings a genuinely new flavor to the roguelike genre – I’ve played almost all of them, and this one stands out. That in itself is worthy of praise, and genre devotees will want to give it a try. On the other hand, it’s a brutal ride that seems in need of a rebalance. With no reliable permanence to boost a player’s odds of success over time, winning a run seems like one big dice roll that will remind players that it this clever indie is an aptly-named experience.

Most people would call it just a rogue like game, but it has too much of an RNG to be a pure rogue like game...
It's a unique game with a ton of replay value. It's well build with some unbeatable challenges xD Nonetheless, it gives me a lot of satisfaction, so far I've reached as far as level 13 is and I wonder how far it might go till I reach the end. Name "Ring of Pain" gives player the perfect idea of how hard of a repeat cycle it may be sometimes XD Music here is dark and kind of spooky, it makes the game even better and more climatic. There are quality graphics on items and monsters and overall, it's a pleasant treat for eyes and a soul. Great game, which will be appreciated by people, who adore not only rogue-like games but other game types as well.
BTW, controls are really comfortable and easy to get used to!

Basically this game is a ton of fun and has a great theme/look to it. The biggest issue is that the a lot more rides on RNG in this game than other roguelikes. The idea of a roguelikes is that you eventually master the game so you can beat it virtually no matter the layout but with this game I've been dealt plenty of hands where I literally couldn't have survived early encounters because what I was given wasn't good enough. I don't have a problem with a difficult game but a game that is difficult because of RNG is not super enjoyable. That being said, I really do enjoy this game and think it is worth a play I just hope they rebalance the RNG Expand
